It was first reported on November 21 that the Hornets were going to waive Batum, but nothing had been done due to hopes that the team would be able to move him in a deal involving the Celtics. With Charlotte waiving Batum the Hornets and Celtics can complete a sign-and-trade for Gordon Hayward without needing a third team to complete the deal. Look for Batum to land with a contending team, which could result in him having some (but not too much) value in deeper leagues.

Cavaliers GM Koby Altman told Andre Drummond that his role in the rotation won't change following the acquisition of Jarrett Allen.

Allen and Taurean Prince were acquired from the Nets as part of the four-team deal headlined by James Harden, giving Cleveland two (relatively) young but experienced players to help with the team's rebuild. How does the addition of Allen change things in the middle? Not at all, as far as Drummond is concerned. "We value what he brings to the table," Altman said according to The Athletic. "We value his force, energy, work ethic and his availability, to be quite frank with you. I think he’s going to be a huge help. His role doesn’t change. Be the same enthusiastic starting center for us that you’ve been and help our guys continue to grow." The center who will take a hit is JaVale McGee, who is playing just under 17 minutes per game. Look for Allen to ultimately take over as the backup center.

The Cavaliers believe that recent acquisition Taurean Prince will given them another capable 3-and-D wing, along with Isaac Okoro and Cedi Osman.

While Cleveland has a surplus of big men, the team was a bit lacking on the wings before getting involved in the four-team trade centered around James Harden. GM Koby Altman was able to add Prince and Jarrett Allen to the roster, and in the case of the former the Cavaliers believe that he can help at both the three and the four. "He’s 6-7, he’s tough, can switch multiple positions," Altman said of Prince. "But I think he’s gonna be able to be multidimensional for us on the defensive end and fit right in as a spacer on the offensive end." Prince's numbers in Brooklyn this season weren't great, but the move to Cleveland gives him a better shot at becoming a relevant fantasy option.
