Joel Embiid (right knee pain) will not travel with the Sixers on their two-game trip vs. Memphis on Saturday and OKC on Sunday.
There are no more details about the injury, but according to beat writer Derek Bodner, the move to keep Embiid in Philly is "precautionary." That's cold comfort for fantasy managers without their star center in both sides of a back-to-back set, but for now we'll assume he could return vs. the Celtics on Wednesday, Jan. 20. Mike Scott is also out with knee pain, which means Dwight Howard needs to avoid foul trouble and Tony Bradley could see minutes at the backup-five spot. Jan 15 5:34 pm (EST)
- Joel Embiid (back tightness) had a night to forget vs. the Heat on Thursday, shooting 3-of-8 from the field and 2-of-4 from the line with five rebounds, one assist, one steal, one triple and three turnovers in 24 minutes.
- Joel Embiid (back) is good to go against the Heat on Thursday.
- Joel Embiid (back tightness), Ben Simmons (knee swelling) and Tobias Harris (medical protocols) are probable for Thursday vs. Miami. All Joel Embiid News
