In the wake of the Raisel Iglesias trade, Reds president of baseball operations Nick Krall named Lucas Sims and Amir Garrett among the candidates for late-inning duty in 2021.
Krall also named Michael Lorenzen and Tejay Antone, though they are expected to get a look in the rotation. This makes Sims and Garrett the likely frontrunners. Sims, a former starting pitcher prospect for the Braves, posted a strong 2.45 ERA and 34/11 K/BB ratio over 25 2/3 innings in the Reds' bullpen this past season. - Sims covered 1.1 innings in relief Friday in the Reds' 7-5 loss to the Diamondbacks, giving up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out three.
