James Karinchak gave up a go-ahead grand slam and failed to retire any of the three batters he faced in an appearance versus the Yankees on Wednesday.

After Carlos Carrasco walked back-to-back hitters to load the bases with no outs in the fourth inning, interim manager Sandy Alomar decided it was time to hand the ball over to Karinchak. The reliever ran the count full to Gio Urshela and then threw a fastball down and in which Urshela pummeled into the left field seats. Karinchak then walked the next two batters and was pulled. We don’t fault Alomar’s decision in going to his dominant reliever, but Karinchak can lose his command and control at times and, unfortunately, it happened in this one. Oct 01 1:32 am (EST)
