Top-Tier

Vladimir Guerrero Jr, TOR – Vladdy is having a monster season, hitting .337 with an MLB-leading 23 home runs and 59 RBI while also scoring 53 runs and leading the MLB in OBP, SLG, OPS, and TB. You could say he’s been good. He homered in yesterday’s contest…. giving him seven for the month of June to go along with a .381 batting average and 17 RBI across 17 games this month. He has reverse splits as he has bashed right-handed pitchers to the tune of a .355/.430/.745 slash line with 21 of his 23 home runs, ALL 13 of his doubles, and 53 of his 59 RBI. And righty would you rather face than Harvey?? Harvey has a 7.76 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, and no pitcher has given up more earned runs than the 50 that Harvey has given up this year. He also has reverse splits as righties have slaughtered him with a .362/4.03/.572 slash line, compared to the .259/.326/.457 line lefties have produced. Stack Jays and use cheap pitching.

J.D. Martinez, BOS – Martinez is having a great year, hitting .307 with 14 home runs, 17 doubles, and 44 RBI. He is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak with two home runs and seven runs scored in that span. He has crushed lefties in his career, slashing .309/.377/.585 against them, compared to .285/.347/.512 against righties. Minor has not been great this season with a 4.63 ERA. Righties have accounted for 12 of the 13 home runs that Minor has given up this season and he has been abysmal at home with a 5.98 ERA across eight starts, compared to a 2.73 ERA across six road starts. On top of all that, Martinez is 7-12 with a home run against Minor in his career.

Mid-Tier

Byron Buxton, MIN – Buxton is a tad bit more than the players I would normally consider in the Mid-tier, but he’s underpriced and a great play. He singled and scored in his return to action yesterday, but I expect more than that today. No hitter on this slate is averaging more DK points per game this season than the 12.0 points that Buxton has averaged across his 25 games of action as he has hit .365 with nine home runs, five steals, and 10 doubles. He has reverse splits as he has done major damage against righties, slashing .356/.415/.797 against them with seven of his nine home runs, four of his five steals, and 15 of his 17 RBI. He has been a road warrior too, slashing .436/.463/1.026 in 11 games away from Minnesota. Yes, a small sample size, but certainly not a bad thing. He is also 2-5 with a home run against Dunning in a handful of at-bats.

Jonathan Villar, NYM – Since moving into the Mets (near everyday) leadoff spot on May 18, Villar is hitting .258 with four home runs, five steals, and 17 runs scored across 26 games. He is hitting .260 against lefties this season, compared to .234 against righties. Corbin is a pretty low-tier lefty at this point as his ERA currently stands at 5.60 with a 5.05 FIP and 1.46 WHIP. Righties have absolutely hammered Corbin this season, slashing .303/.369/.521 with ALL 12 home runs that he has given up, compared to the .200/.269/.267 line that lefties have produced. On top of all that, Villar is 10-23 (.435) against Corbin in his career. The Mets are stackable today with Alonso, Lindor, Villar, and McCann or Pillar.

Bargain Bin

Jazz Chisholm Jr, MIA – Much like Buxton, Chisholm may be a on the pricier side of this category, but I do like him. He is having a great season, hitting .264 with eight home runs and 10 stolen bases (reaching double digits in yesterday’s game). His average is slightly worse against righties this year so far but both his OBP and SLG are slightly higher against righties. He has the platoon advantage against Mills, who has a 6.11 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 28 innings this season. Lefties are slashing .347/.448/.531 against him, compared to the .230/.309/.393 line that righties have produced. The Marlins should do plenty of damage against Mills today and I expect Chisholm to be in the spotlight of it.

Jesus Sanchez, MIA – Sanchez has monster upside at the minimum price. He swatted his first career home run in yesterday’s game, finishing 2-5 with two RBI as well and that was his third straight game with a hit. As mentioned in Chisholm’s section, Mills has been a dumpster fire and lefties have done major damage against him thus far, so it’s really easy to like both Chisholm and Sanchez at cheap prices. Sanchez hasn’t hit lower than sixth in the lineup, so even if he hits there it’s not the worst of spots for DFS purposes. It also doesn’t hurt that the wind is blowing out today, so we could see some fireworks at Wrigley Field this afternoon.
