The phrase “no news is good news” is certainly appropriate for the running back position this week as pecking order in every backfield stayed the same. Well, technically. Thankfully, the injury bug failed to take a significant bite out of anyone and those who have been on the sidelines continue to heal. So there’s not much to change on the actual Handcuff Grid and that’s a good thing. Of course, there’s always still a little bit of news worthy of your attention.
Green Bay Packers – While head coach Mike McCarthy said Aaron Jones was third on his depth chart and would have to earn his carries, clearly that was nothing more than lip service. Jones is the best back the Packers have and we saw that already in Week 3 when he out-carried both Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery . It was only by one carry that he out-touchEd Williams, but it’s also about the results as Jones averaged 7.0 yards per carry and simply looked better behind the line. Nothing has technically changed on the depth chart, but you can probably expect Jones to take the lead moving forward, beginning this week against the Bills.
Indianapolis Colts – We’re all starting to lose patience with Marlon Mack and this hamstring issue that continues to sideline him. He still remains the Colts top guy according to the depth chart, but you have to keep your eyes on Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines still. Wilkins still hasn’t done much to separate himself from the pack, but Hines has actually looked good as the third-down back. Overall, the ground game for the Colts stinks for fantasy owners, but we have to monitor it nonetheless. What you should also take note of is that this will be the last game Robert Turbin misses due to suspension. If none of these other guys step forward, Turbin could suddenly be in line for some nice touches come Week 5.
