QUARTERBACKS

Quarterbacks

Carson StrongNEVSJSU840025.24
On a slate without any stud QBs, it’s Strong as the highest priced option and he’ll probably end up being popular in all formats. He’s coming off an impressive performance last week that included 350+ passing yards and five TDs for 33 DK points. It was a bounceback game for a guy who struggled in the previous two outings. The decision here is simple, though. Strong is the best QB in a game that’s projected to be a high-scoring, back-and-forth affair - and his clear upside of 300-400 passing yards and multiple scores will garner high ownership on a slate without anyone better.
Jayden DanielsASUARIZ750021.03
After Strong, it’s Daniels who’s the next-best QB option on this slate with a better floor-ceiling combo than some options above or around this price range. North Texas’ Jason Bean is risky because he isn't the full time starter, Marshall’s Grant Wells had his game postponed and Colorado’s Sam Noyer is now playing on Saturday. That brings us to Daniels, who should be in for a big bounceback game after a less-than-ideal start to the season. The future NFL Draft pick was solid in the opener vs. USC but struggled at times last week after having multiple games cancelled due to COVID. He’s only played twice this season and this will be the first time Arizona State plays in consecutive weeks. As a dual-threat and legit pro prospect, Daniels should find success on the ground and through the air against a subpar Arizona defense.
Gavin HardisonUTEPUNT530010.11
The Super-Flex price range at QB is pretty much a dart board on this slate. Hardison is the cheapest starting quarterback in action, though, and he actually has some upside in both a favorable matchup and game script. First off, he’ll face a North Texas defense that allows 41 PPG (the most on this slate) and is bad against the pass - allowing 275 yards and multiple TDs through the air per game. So the matchup is definitely there for Hardison to put up stats. Plus, he’ll likely be throwing more often than normal with UTEP being double-digit underdogs in the highest total of the night. For this price, Hardison doesn’t have to do much to return value and he’s a better Super-Flex option than others more expensive than him.

Also Consider:

Jason Bean - North Texas ($8,100) - GPP

Nick Starkel - San Jose State ($6,500) - GPP/Cash

Will Plummer - Arizona ($5,800) - GPP/Cash

RUNNING BACKS

Running Backs
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Deion HankinsUTEPUNT670016.77
We mentioned above how bad North Texas’ defense is this season - and they are equally as bad at defending the run as the pass. Hankins will face a UNT defense that ranks 120th out of 127 FBS teams in terms of rush defense - allowing a comical 236 rushing yards and nearly three rush TDs per game through eight outings. This game is projected to be the highest-scoring on the slate and both offenses should be a focus without many games to choose from. As a freshman, Hankins has been very solid this season with 100+ rushing yards in three of six games and seven rushing TDs so far. He’s a potential bargain on this slate and is a solid option for both cash and GPP.
DeaMonte TrayanumASUARIZ550017.85
Although Rachaad White ($6100) is priced above Trayanum, it’s the latter ASU RB that we want for both the savings and the more guaranteed role. Both backs entered the season in a committee situation, but Trayanum may have taken over the lead role for good last week with his 108 rushing yards on 15 carries. The freshman split carries with White in the opener, but it was Trayanum who saw the bulk of work in Arizona State’s second game - with White only getting seven carries and fumbling twice. Both have a very good matchup against an Arizona rush defense that’s the worst on the slate - allowing a whopping 273 rushing yards three rushing scores per game through three outings. Lock Trayanum into cash lineups with White being a GPP option.
Oscar Adaway IIIUNTUTEP450012.96
As much as we’d like to trust a North Texas running back in cash, it’s just not there right now. For GPP’s, though, Adaway is very attractive for this cheap price tag and upside to get the bulk of carries this week in the Mean Green backfield. While DeAndre Torrey has mostly been the starter this season, it’s Adaway who’s had big games when healthy. The freshman has rushed for 100+ yards in three of his five games so far and has been able to have good performances even if Torrey also does. The savings in Adaway compared to Torrey is notable and makes him the better per-dollar option on this slate.

Also Consider:

Tyler Nevens - San Jose State ($6,400) - GPP

Rachaad White - Arizona State ($6,100) - GPP

Gary Brightwell - Arizona ($5,900) - GPP/Cash

Toa Taua - Nevada ($5,700) - GPP

Michael Wiley - Arizona ($4,700) - GPP

WIDE RECEIVERS

Wide Receivers

Jaelon DardenUNTUTEP920029.15
Before you ignore Darden because of his DeVonta Smith-level pricing, just consider how good his DFS floor and ceiling both are right now. He’s the best player on a North Texas offense that’s projected to be the slate’s highest-scoring - so that should mean something. But Darden’s value to the Mean Green attack is even better than Smith to Alabama. His 1,017 receiving yards and 15 TDs through eight games are miles ahead of the next-best pass-catcher on the team as he’s a weekly threat to put up 30+ DK points with multiple TDs and 100+ yards. His per-game numbers this season come out to at least eight receptions, 127 yards and nearly two TDs. It’s insane production and Darden’s definitely in play for cash games as he’s in a tier of his own on this short slate.
Romeo DoubsNEVSJSU730028.47
Nevada has multiple WR’s to target as either one-offs or in a mini stack with QB Carson Strong. Cole Turner ($6500), Tory Horton ($6000), Justin Lockhart ($4300) and Melquan Stovall are all viable on this slate depending on if you want a low-owned, high-upside GPP option (Turner, Horton) or a cheap cash play (Lockhart, Stovall). The best Wolfpack receiver is Doubs, though, and he’s firmly in play for all formats with a solid floor and big ceiling. The junior began the year with 100+ yards and at least one TD in five straight - with production usually eclipsing those numbers - and he should bounce back to that level after a couple quieter weeks. He’s a stud and could easily be the highest-scoring individual player on this slate - that’s including Darden above.
Frank DarbyASUARIZ56008.3
After a rib injury knocked Darby out early of Arizona State’s opener, he bounced back for five grabs, 44 yards and a score to lead all Sun Devil wide receivers last week. With QB Jayden Daniels getting more comfortable - and in a good matchup vs. Arizona’s poor defense - we should expect bigger numbers for Darby as the #1 wideout on this offense. With Brandon Aiyuk off to the NFL, Darby was expected to take a step forward this season - but the late start and some cancelled games have likely played a role in this ASU attack (and Darby) playing below the potential. Darby is talented enough to be priced $1000 higher - and could be next week after a big game. Great GPP option in the mid-range of WR.
Stanley Berryhill IIIARIZASU490014.9
With so many WRs in the mid-range now off the slate, Berryhill stands out as a great cash or GPP option at below 5k with the next highest option being $600 cheaper. He’s Arizona’s top wideout and had caught at least five passes in each of the first three games before a dud outing last time out. He should bounce back against an Arizona State defense that’s allowing a slate-high 286 passing yards per game. This could end up in an offensive shootout and Berryhill could end up being popular as the best option in a WR mid-range without many alternatives.
PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Justin LockhartNEVSJSU430010.94
We mentioned how multiple Nevada receivers are in play on this slate - and Lockhart can be used in all formats. He’s a cheap way to get exposure to a high-scoring game and makes for a very affordable pairing with Carson Strong. With only three games on the slate now, you can play a couple Nevada WRs and Lockhart can provide a strong floor with his PPR upside. With two games being moved off the slate, the mid-to-low price range of receiver is ugly and Lockart presents the best DFS floor and ceiling combo.

Also Consider:

Cole Turner - Nevada ($6,500) - GPP

Bailey Gaither - San Jose State ($6,200) - GPP/Cash

Tory Horton - Nevada ($6,000) - GPP

Jacob Cowing - UTEP ($5,500) - Cash

Tre Walker - San Jose State ($5,000) - Cash/GPP

Deonte Simpson - North Texas ($4,100) - Cash/GPP

Melquan Stovall - Nevada ($3,600) - GPP

Johnny Wilson - Arizona State ($3,300) - GPP/Cash
