Cam Talbot may not be back with the Calgary Flames next season.

Talbot can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2019-20 campaign. "I obviously wouldn’t mind coming back here either. I loved it here," said Talbot referring to Calgary. "It’s a great situation, a great locker room and, obviously, I have a really good relationship with Ritter [David Rittich] and Siggy (goalie coach Jordan Sigalet). So I mean, I wouldn’t rule out coming back, but, obviously, my goal coming here was to show the rest of the league that I still have it in me to be a starting goalie and I think I accomplished that.”

Austin Watson is looking forward to getting a fresh start with the Ottawa Senators.

"Last season was a tough one for Nashville Predators period and individually for me," Watson said. "There were some good spots early on but with the coaching change and then around the trade deadline last year I was definitely more prepared then to be moved than I was in the summer. I figured after the Return to Play, and getting the opportunity to play throughout the playoffs (in Edmonton), I thought the ship had been kind of righted a little bit. I was a little bit caught off guard but just super-excited for a new opportunity as well." He generated six goals, 14 points, 65 penalty minutes and 131 hits in 53 games last season. Watson is expected to add some physicality and help out the penalty kill as a member of the Senators.

Liam O'Brien has signed an AHL deal with the Colorado Eagles for the 2020-21 season.

O'Brien played the last six seasons with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, while amassing 63 goals, 74 assists and 638 penalty minutes in 370 games. That includes 10 goals and 29 points over 59 matches last campaign. The 26-year-old forward also has one goal and one helper in 17 career NHL outings, which all came with the Washington Capitals.

Cody Glass feels confident going into his sophomore NHL season.

Glass logged some time between Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty last year, while posting six points in his first nine games. He is projected to get a shot in the top-six forward group again this campaign after Paul Stastny was traded to Winnipeg during the offseason. "They haven’t made their expectations of me clear, but I put high expectations on myself," Glass said. "I really want to be a dominant centerman." He has gotten bigger and stronger since last season. Glass is an intriguing fantasy option going into 2020-21.

Otto Koivula has three goals and eight assists in 12 games with HIFK of Finland's Liiga this campaign.

"When I left the Islanders, they told me the way to get more games, more minutes was to improve my skating," Koivula said. "Playing center in a European rink is a lot harder than in a North American rink, to be honest. A lot more skating, more defense. So I think it’s really good for me to do this and I’m playing pretty well." He notched nine goals and 22 points in 36 matches with Bridgeport of the AHL last season. Koivula didn't have a point in 12 outings with the Islanders in 2019-20, but he hopes playing in Europe before training camp will put him in a better position to try to earn an NHL roster spot.

Maxence Guenette has been productive in the QMJHL this season with two goals and 11 assists through 13 games.

It's been different playing during the COVID-19 pandemic, but Guenette is glad to be on the ice. "It's pretty amazing that we can play," he said. "We're really fortunate to be able to play. Here in Val d'Or, there's not many cases so we're able to just play against teams in our division. There's many rules that we have to follow but if it's the price we pay to be able to play, it's worth it." Half of the team's gams have come against Rouyn-Noranda or Baie-Comeau, which has been "a bit repetitive" but Guenette reiterated that it's worth it to be able to play hockey right now. The Ottawa Senators selected the 19-year-old blueliner in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft.

Mikhail Sergachev is happy he was able to work things out with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Sergachev agreed to a three-year deal with an AAV of $4.8 million. That's a pretty fair cap hit after recording over 30 points in each of his first three seasons. “I’ve had the best memories in my hockey career here in Tampa, the first goal and the Stanley Cup and many, many more things,” Sergachev said. “I miss the boys on our team and want to get back to Tampa as soon as possible and that means a lot to me. I wouldn’t want to change the team for money.” Tampa Bay's work isn't done yet. The Lightning still need to re-sign RFAs Anthony Cirelli and Erik Cernak and find a way to get under the cap ceiling.

Erik Brannstrom has done well in the Swiss National League while waiting for the NHL campaign to begin.

Brannstrom has two goals and seven points in nine games with the Langnau Tigers. More importantly, it's been getting an opportunity to get work in while North American hockey hasn't gotten underway. “It’s been good. We’ve played a lot of games. We have a good team with a great bunch of guys here and I’m enjoying my time here,” said Brannstrom. “I had my wrist injury last year and it was good for me to go somewhere and play. It feels good out there. I feel better, with my wrist and everything, so I feel good and confident out there. I feel like it was a good decision to come and play here.”

Jaromir Jagr plans on continuing to play for HC Kladno in 2020-21.

Jagr is 48-years-old, but he's still capable of contributing for Kladno in the Czech league. He scored 15 goals and 29 points in 38 games with Kladno last season. He isn't sure how much longer he can keep going, but he isn't willing to retire just yet. “I can’t say how long I want to keep playing," Jagr said. "The game is getting more difficult. I think I kind of lost the drive when I wanted to prove that I’m still capable of getting better. I feel a lack of motivation to keep playing, though this year is definitely not the last in my career.” He last played in the NHL back in the 2017-18 campaign.
