Willie Cauley-Stein started on Saturday vs the Rockets but didn't do much, finishing with a light six points, three rebounds and a block in 18 minutes.

Kristaps Porzingis (knee; rest) was out for the Mavs on Saturday leading to a WCS spot start but Cauley-Stein was super quiet in the loss. He's only scored in double figures three times this year and has just one double-double in 16 games. And even in a starting role, WCS was outplayed by Boban Marjanovic who dropped 15 and 12 off the bench in 19 minutes.

Paul George (dizziness) explained his absence prior to the All-Star break and returned on Sunday night to score 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

George explained that caffeine was the reason he missed Thursday's game. "A lesson learned," George said, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk. "I had too much caffeine. I think it was too much caffeine at that time. It made me real jittery and sped me up. A lesson learned on that situation, never have too much caffeine too close on back to back (games)." George played 26 minutes in the All-Star Game and added two assists, two rebounds, and one steal to his 17 points. It looks like he'll be just fine after the break.

Curry lost out on MVP to his teammate, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who scored 35 points on perfect 16-of-16 shooting, but Curry was still tremendous. He made 10-of-19 shots from the field including eight 3-pointers and added four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. The rest day was surely precautionary, and managers can expect him in full form after the break.

After criticizing the league for its handling of the All-Star Game and resting the Lakers’ final game before the break, James sat for the entire second half of Sunday’s event. Simons' portfolio included paying tribute to Tracy McGrady's 360-degree dunk from 2000, grabbing the ball from 12-feet up to dunk it, and attempting to kiss the rim on his final one. He beat out Toppin by voters' choice, 3-2. Toppin's best dunk was a leap over Julius Randle and his father before throwing the ball through the rim.

After finishing runner-up in 2020, Domantas Sabonis won the 2021 NBA Skills Challenge. He knocked off Vucevic in the final round despite both shooting poorly on rushed 3-point tries. Vucevic advanced to the Finals after wins over Robert Covington and Chris Paul, and Sabonis advanced with wins over Julius Randle and Luka Doncic.

Curry was on fire in the 3-point contest, which was held prior to the All-Star Game due to the pandemic. Curry won the first round by scoring 31 points (Zach LaVine, Donovan Mitchell, and Jaylen Brown were eliminated), and won the second round by scoring 28 points. Mike Conley finished in second place with 27 points in the final round, and Jayon Tatum finished third with 17 points. Blake Griffin has officially signed with Brooklyn, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Griffin has agreed to a deal with the Nets for the remainder of the season, per Woj. The forward signed a veteran's minimum contract with the team after signing a five-year, $171 million max deal with the Los Angeles Clippers and arriving in Detroit in late January of 2018, less than one season into that contract.

Blake Griffin has cleared waivers and is expected to sign with the Brooklyn Nets, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The former Pistons forward is officially a free agent and per Shams, he will be teaming up with Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving in pursuit of a championship. Griffin recently agreed to a buyout with Detroit and was sought after by multiple teams. The soon-to-be 32-year-old is averaging 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season but is only shooting 37% from the floor and will presumably serve as a small-ball center for Steve Nash's group the rest of the way.

Kawhi Leonard said on Sunday that, as of right now, his plan is to participate in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Due to the changes to the NBA calendar brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the end of the season will run up against the start of the Olympics (the Opening Ceremony is scheduled for July 23). But that hasn't stopped Leonard from announcing that he's all-in to represent the United States if selected. "Right now, my plan is to go," Leonard said. "It doesn't really matter about the success that we have [in the playoffs]." The NBA Playoffs will begin on May 22, and if the NBA Finals go the distance Game 7 would be played on July 22.
