NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said the Lions and Matthew Stafford have agreed to part ways this offseason. 
It appears the team won't fight to keep Stafford aboard for a full rebuild. Pelissero reports Stafford and the team made a mutual decision that the Lions would trade away their franchise QB this offseason after 12 seasons. QB-needy teams like the 49ers, Washington, Panthers, Colts, Jets, and Broncos will probably show interest in acquiring Stafford, though the Lions' price isn't known. Stafford has two years and $43 million left on his contract, "a bargain price for a quarterback who is still playing at a high level," Pelissero said. Stafford will be a marked upgrade for the pass catchers on whichever team he lands on this offseason. Detroit is (very) likely to use their No. 7 NFL draft pick to select Stafford's successor, and perhaps move up even further to secure one of the draft's top signal callers. The trade would likely happen before the fifth day of the 2021 league year in March, when Stafford is due a $10 million roster bonus.

The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reports the Bills are "intent" on adding a tight end in free agency. 
Dawson Knox last season, struggling through multiple injuries, saw a meager 3.75 targets per game in 11 contests, though a more dynamic tight end could command a larger target share in Buffalo's wildly pass-heavy offense. The team will have a range of free agent tight end options from which to choose, including Jonnu Smith, Cameron Brate, Hunter Henry, Kyle Rudolph, Gerald Everett, and possibly Zach Ertz. “At the end of the year, I thought we did a little bit, Dawson started to get his groove. But it was never where the opposing defense was like, ‘Man, we’ve got to stop their tight ends from going off,'" Bills general manager Brandon Beane said. "So we’ll look into that group.” Buscaglia said Smith "would immediately be the top tight end on the roster and has enough blocking abilities to stay on the field for all three downs," but mentioned his route running as a weak point that could make Henry the superior option for Buffalo. Everett, Buscaglia said, could be the best financial fit for the team.

Steelers.com's Bob Labriola reported Chase Claypool's "diva quotient increased consistently over the course of his rookie season."
It's an odd inclusion in a write up about how the team's wide receiver group projects for 2021. "Claypool didn't need very long to establish himself as a difference-maker, as a receiver capable of making plays down the field, and he was the offense's primary deep threat throughout the season," Labriola wrote. "If there was a negative, it was that it seemed as though Claypool's diva quotient increased consistently over the course of his rookie season. Whether that turns into a problem or comes to be viewed in the future as growing pains will develop over time." Claypool, 22, got into spats with opponents -- conflicts that didn't seem out of the ordinary. He wasn't an apparent distraction for the team in 2020. The touchdown machine should see a boost in playing time and targets in 2021 with JuJu Smith-Schuster likely signing elsewhere.

NFL reporter Chris Mortensen reports Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie "has instructed his group to prioritize making [Jalen] Hurts successful in 2021 as opposed to creating a true competition."
Mortensen reports there isn't "internal unanimity" about Hurts as the starting QB in 2021, but Lurie has been clear that the second-year QB should be given a real shot. Mortensen replied to a tweet from the Philadelphia Inquirer's Les Bowen questioning Mort's report that the team is sure about Hurts as its starter in 2021. But Lurie's support would presumably carry significant weight with the team's new coaching staff. Mortensen said in February -- after the team traded Carson Wentz to the Colts -- that the Eagles "intend to bring in competition" for Hurts. Apparently that calculus could change with Lurie's input. The dual-threat Hurts could be a standout late-round QB pick in fantasy leagues if he wins the starting gig.

NBC Sports' Peter King said Seattle trading Russell Wilson to the Bears is a "futile pipe dream."
King rightfully questions what Chicago could offer that would entice the Seahawks to trade away their franchise player. Even if the Bears offer Khalil Mack, Nick Foles, the 20th pick in the NFL Draft, and their 2022 first rounder, King said the Seahawks would be unlikely to make the deal and incur at $39 million cap hit in 2021. Seattle's draft position -- the team has a single selection in the first 125 picks -- makes it nearly impossible to find a quarterback of the future if they deal Wilson to Chicago. The Bears are reportedly "prioritizing" acquiring Wilson, but the team would have to blow away the Seahawks with an offer in the coming weeks.
