Larkin, the team's new captain, did a much better job in his second game wearing the C. After Vincent Trocheck's power-play goal just 28 seconds into the third period to tie it 1-1, Larkin bagged a big goal just 18 seconds later on helpers to Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi. Larkin's second of the game was of the empty-net variety, putting a bow on the scoring as the underdogs doubled up the Canes after getting blanked by Carolina in the opener. He'll look to build upon the momentum Monday night against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.

Heiskanen also contributed to the fantasy bottom line with a plus-1 rating, two shots on goal, a blocked shot and a hit in his 32:30 of ice time across 30 shifts. The 21-year-old rearguard from Espoo, FIN is starting to awaken from his slumber, posting two goals, four points and a plus-2 rating during his season-high three-game point streak. Oettinger was unable to follow up his surprise shutout against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday with another win. The offense almost bailed him out, as he fell behind 3-0 after allowing two first-period goals to Mikael Granlund and Calle Jarnkrok, while Eeli Tolvanen scored on the power play midway through the second. The Stars rattled off three unanswered goals from 12:30 to 19:03 of the third to force overtime, but Oettinger couldn't solve Filip Forsberg or Roman Josi in the shootout.

Tolvanen ended up with three shots on goal while dishing out two hits in his 15:10 of ice time across 20 shifts, and his helper was the primary assist on Mikael Granlund's power-play marker in the first. He is getting plenty of time on the man advantage, and he picked up two power-play points in this one. The 21-year-old Finn, who was the team's first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft at 30th overall, has power-play goals in back-to-back games.

It was a strange game for the veteran netminder, as he was staked to a 3-0 lead through the first two and a half periods. But the Stars mounted a feverish comeback, registering goals from Radek Faksa, Joe Pavelski on the power play and Jason Robertson with an extra attacker, forcing overtime. Rinne settled down in the extra session and stopped two of the three shots he faced in the shootout to bounce back for the win, improving to 6-9-0 through 13 starts and 16 appearances.

Evgeni Malkin posted a goal with an assist in Sunday's 5-1 home victory against the New York Rangers.

Malkin also finished with a plus-1 rating, a shot on goal and a hit in his 16:49 of ice time while winning just two of his six faceoff attempts (33.3 percent). The latter was about the only thing which wasn't up to snuff with Geno's play this weekend. In back-to-back games he two goals and four points with a plus-2 rating. He enter the weekend with just one multi-point performance in his first 22 outings, so his fantasy managers are finally feeling some relief. Kapanen scored the team's second goal of the game, giving them a 2-1 lead, and he was therefore credited with the game-winning tally. He also had primary helper on John Marino's first goal of the season, and primary apple on Evgeni Malkin's marker midway through the third while finishing with a plus-2 rating. After just five points each in both January and February, the former Leafs sniper has three goals and six points with a plus-4 rating in only four March outings. Ride him while he is red-hot in weekly fantasy pools and DFS play.

DeSmith was dinged for a goal just 78 seconds into the game by Mika Zibanejad, and it looked like he might be in for an uneven outing. He pulled it together nicely, and the Penguins rattled off five unanswered goals to help him to the easy win. DeSmith improved to 5-2-0 with a 2.52 goals-against average and .901 save percentage, and he is 2-1-0 with a 2.33 GAA and .914 SV% in three assignments against the Blueshirts.

Mika Zibanejad scored his third goal of the season in Sunday's 5-1 road loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Zibanejad helped the Rangers jump on Casey DeSmith early with a goal just 1:18 into the game, with assists to Pavel Buchnevich and Jacob Trouba. It looked like New York might be ready for a strong road game, but they did nothing offensively after that initial score. Zibanejad ended up with three shots on goal, a blocked shot and a minor penalty in his 19:18 of ice time across 24 shifts while splitting his 12 faceoff attempts.

Georgiev just didn't have it. After a 1-0 lead thanks to a Mike Zibanejad goal just 78 seconds into the game, the Penguins struck for goals from John Marino, Kasperi Kapanen and Sidney Crosby in a 61-second span from 16:13 to 17:14 of the first period.
