The Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL have signed goaltender Garret Sparks to a one-year deal.

It's a homecoming of sorts for Sparks who played for Orlando from 2013-16 when it was the Maple Leafs ECHL farm team. Sparks was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 Draft and has played 38 games at the NHL level, 37 with Toronto and one last season with Vegas. He is 14-18-2 with a 3.11 GAA and a .897 save percentage in his NHL career and likely will be the starter for Orlando when play begins on December 11.

Anze Kopitar posted a pair of assists in Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

Kopitar was all over the board for his fantasy owners on Tuesday, also chipping in with a plus-1 rating, a blocked shot, a minor penalty and a pair of hits while also winning 14 of his 25 faceoff attempts (56.0 percent). The Slovenian superstar has posted four helpers across the past two outings. He just keeps going and going.

Andreas Athanasiou scored his third goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

Athanasiou has scored a goal in each of his three games with the Kings, as he has really fit in well in his new surroundings. The amazing thing about his three-game goal-scoring streak is that he has taken only three shots on goal all season. That's pinpoint accuracy. He also sports a stellar plus-3 rating heading into Thursday's rematch against the Avs at Staples.

Cal Petersen allowed three goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 home loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

It wasn't a bad start for Petersen. He allowed a first-period, even-strength goal to Brandon Saad, then a couple of power-play markers to Devon Toews and Mikko Rantanen which were not his fault. He then buckled down for the third period, and his offense pulled back to within 3-2. Petersen didn't win, but he gave his team a chance.

Devon Toews scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 win on the road against the Los Angeles Kings.

The marker for Toews came on the power play, with assists to Samuel Girard and Joonas Donskoi. He has scored twice in his first three games in Denver, as he has jelled instantly with his new club. He is already endearing himself to his teammates for his selflessness, too, blocking six shots. The rest of his team had a total of eight BS.

Mikko Rantanen registered a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings.

Rantanen lit the lamp late in the second period on the man advantage, making it 3-0 at the time. The Kings scratched back for two goals in the third, but Philipp Grubauer bowed his back and help the Avs hang on for the win. As such, Rantanen's power-play marker stood up as the game-winning tally, too.

Philipp Grubauer stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in Tuesday's 3-2 victory on the road against the Los Angeles Kings.

Grubauer improved to 2-0-1 with a 2.01 goals-against average and .923 save percentage across his three starts so far. The 29-year-old is healthy again, and he is backed by a powerful offense which is considered one of the favorites to win Lord Stanley's Cup in 2021. It's going to be a great fantasy season for Grubauer's owners.

Mika Zibanejad suffered an undisclosed injury in Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

Zibanejad appeared to hurt himself on an innocent looking play late in the third period, as he was skating in Devils territory when he lost an edge and fell into the boards awkwardly. The Rangers didn't provide much of an update on Zibanejad's status after the game. He managed to score a goal before exiting the game, but his team still lost by a score of 4-3. Zibanejad is considered day-to-day for now, but losing him for an extended period of time would be a tough blow for the Rangers.

Juuso Riikola suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's game against the Washington Capitals.

The Penguins also lost Marcus Pettersson in this one. Riikola had just over eight minutes of ice time before exiting the game for good. Head coach Mike Sullivan didn't provide an update on either defenseman after the game. They're both considered day-to-day for now.

Pettersson went straight to the locker room after taking a blindside hit from Caps forward T.J. Oshie. Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan didn't provide much of an update after the game. Pettersson is considered day-to-day for now. The Penguins also lost Juuso Riikola to injury on Tuesday.

Elvis Merzlikins allowed three goals on 27 shots in Tuesday’s 3-2 OT loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Merzlikins was a bit unlucky on the overtime goal, as he made the initial save on a shot by Dylan Larkin, but the rebound bounced off Tyler Bertuzzi before going right into the net. The 26-year-old has dropped each of his first two starts of 2021 and he’s allowed eight goals combined in both outings. He has an 0-1-1 record with a 4.01 goals-against-average and a .867 save percentage this season. His numbers should get better soon.

Jonathan Bernier turned aside 22 of 24 shots in Tuesday’s 3-2 OT win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Bernier gave up the first goal of the game to Boone Jenner, who scored with a nice wrist shot glove side, but one that Bernier should have probably stopped. The Red Wings responded by scoring back-to-back goals thanks to Anthony Mantha and Bobby Ryan, but Alexandre Texier beat a screened Bernier to force overtime. In the extra frame, Tyler Bertuzzi managed to give the Red Wings the victory. Bernier is off to a nice start in 2021. He has a 2-0-0 record with a 2.00 goals-against-average and a .927 save percentage this season.

Alexandar Georgiev was pulled in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils.

Georgiev played the first two periods of the game, but he didn’t come out for the start of the third frame. He allowed four goals on 20 shots through 40 minutes and he was clearly outplayed by Devils goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood in this one. The 24-year-old now owns a 1-1-0 record with a 2.40 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage this season. Igor Shesterkin, who entered the game in relief of Georgiev, stopped all eight shots he faced.
