Playing out of the third-to-last threesome, World No. 136 Andrew Landry twirled a bogey-free 6-under-par 32-32=64 in the final round of The RSM Classic to reach 17-under 265, up four places to T4, two shy of a two-man playoff involving past champ Kevin Kisner (63) and past champ and eventual winner Robert Streb (68).

After kicking off with 68-68 and bogey-free 65, the 33-year-old began T8 on 11-under, six short of leader Streb. He hit 10 (of 14) fairways and pelted 17 greens in regulation, gaining 0.201 strokes off-the-tee, 1.303 approaching and 0.930 around-the-green. The Arkansas alum carded a hole-out eagle-3 at 15 (from 22'11" away) and four birdie-3s at 2, 4, 9 and 16, posting 1.647 putts per GIR and 0.612 SG: Putting. This was his fifth RSM and second top 25, joining a T4 three tries ago in 2018, and improves to 4-for-6 on the season with one top 25, bettering a previous-best T27 at the Shriners five starts ago in his season-opener. The Texan records his ninth career top-10 finish in 98 events, first since his second TOUR victory at last season's multi-course American Express 18 starts ago. For the week, he totaled one eagle and 18 birdies versus three bogeys, and played his final 40 holes bogey-free.

D.J. Trahan has withdrawn from the field prior to the start of this week's American Express, citing a positive COVID-19 test result. He will be replaced by the next alternate, Michael Gellerman.

Trahan was arriving with a 7-for-15 record at The American Express including a 2008 victory as the clear highlight. He has finished outside of the top 50 in each of his last 10 appearances at PGA WEST. For the season, the 40-year-old is 4-for-7 with a T14 at the Safeway Open the event he'd write home about. Gamers should remove him from all weekly lineups and hope he has a speedy recovery.

Prior to the start of the event, Ryan Brehm has backed out of the field for this week's American Express. The next alternate, John Senden, will take his spot in the field.

Brehm has not kicked off his 2021 schedule yet but he did finish 2020 with cuts made in seven of his last eight starts (6 PGA TOUR; 2 Korn Ferry). That might of had gamers giving him a look as a potential DFS punt but they should reserve those thoughts for the next time he tees it up. Taking his place will be Senden who is 12-for-17 at the American Express but has missed the cut in each of his last four visits.

Branden Grace has removed his name from the field prior to the start of this week's American Express at PGA WEST. The next alternate, Rafael Campos, will take his seat.

Grace would have been making his tournament debut this week but it's not to be. He was arriving off an early trunk slam at the Sony Open, losing 2.3 strokes tee-to-green and 4.8 strokes putting over two days at Waialae Country Club. Grace ended his year strong with a T8 in Dubai at the DP World Tour Championship but he hasn't posted a top 25 on the PGA TOUR since the Charles Schwab Challenge, 17 starts ago. Gamers should wait for his form to ramp up before reinvesting.

Tiger Woods announced that he recently had another microdiscectomy procedure for a pinched nerve, deemed to be a successful operation, but has no timetable for his return to action.

Woods issued a statement via social media, "I look forward to training and am focused on getting back out on Tour." He added that the discomfort was felt during the PNC Championship in December but did not give an exact date for when the operation occurred. His typical schedule would have included stops at the Farmers Insurance Open and the Genesis Invitational (which he hosts). He will not be playing either of those events this year but does plan to fulfill his duties as the tournament host for the Genesis. The next events on the schedule that might receive a Woods return would be the WGC at The Concession, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, or THE PLAYERS. There is no guarantee that his body will be ready by then either.

Andrew Landry lifted the hardware last year at The American Express and he returns to PGA WEST this week for a chance to defend his crown.

Landry had a close call at this event back in 2018 when he lost out to Jon Rahm in a playoff. He returned the next year to post a T28 finish and then last year he finished the job. The Texan posted four rounds of 67 or better to reach 26-under for the week and win by two shots. Overall, Landry has posted a score that was better than the field average in 12-of-15 rounds played at the AmEx so these courses appear to fit his eye. It was tough for anyone to see last year's win coming as he arrived with missed cuts in seven of his eight lead-up starts. This time around he has five paychecks in his last eight starts including a T4 at The RSM Classic to end his fall schedule. Landry cracked the top 100 in the OWGR after his 2018 Valero Texas Open win and he has a chance to reenter the single digits as he currently sits at 111th in the rankings. Gamers should give Landry a look in weekly leagues if they want to lean on course history but his week-to-week results are still rather volatile.

Ryan Moore has been missing in action this fall but he returns to competition this week at The American Express.

Moore ended his 2020 season with a missed cut at the Wyndham Championship and then a WD during round one the first Playoff event. He cited a back injury for that mid-tourney WD and then went into hibernation for the fall. He has a lot of work to do in terms of making up for lost FedExCup Points but the hope is that he's fully healthy heading into the new year. Moore's record in the Coachella Valley is hit or miss as he owns three top 10s in eight starts at the AmEx but he's also missed the cut or WD'd in four of those appearances. Gamers should treat him as a high-risk fantasy option until he pens a few rounds on his form log.

Playing out of the seventh-to-last threesome and with preferred lies in effect, World No. 5 Collin Morikawa hung up a day- and career-tying-low 6-under-par 33-31=64 in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii to wrap on 18-under 262, up 10 spots to a season-tying-best T7, three in arrears of champion Kevin Na (65).

After kicking off with 66-65-67, the top-ranked OWGRer in the field began T17 on 12-under, two shy of the overnight top 10 and six adrift of leader Brendan Steele (69). He found 10 (of 14) fairways and 15 greens in regulation, losing 0.629 strokes around-the-green but gaining 1.036 off-the-tee and 2.882 on approach. The 23-year-old squared a lone bogey-4 at hole 7 (failed sand save), smothered by seven circles at 2, 5, 7, 9. 10, 12, 15 and 17, each from inside of 12 feet. He recorded 1.600 putts per GIR and 0.177 SG: Putting, concluding the week with 25 birdies versus three bogeys and two doubles. Today's 64 matches his career low in 142 rounds (x7), most recently in the final round at last season's PGA Championship en route to a 2-shot victory 10 starts ago, and improves to 5-for-7 on the season with two top 10s, two straight after T7 last week on Maui. This was the Las Vegas resident's second Sony after T21 last year as the 18-hole leader by two, and is not in the published field at this coming week's American Express.

After opening with 66-65-65, Rounds 2 and 3 bogey-free, the 37-year-old began T9, four short of leader Brendan Steele (69). On seven (of 14) fairways and 12 greens in regulation, he lost 1.595 strokes off-the-tee but gained 1.658 approaching and 2.215 around-the-green. The Virginia Beach resident squared two bogey-5s at holes 5 and 8, outpaced by seven birdies at 6, 9, 10, 12 (hole-out from 30'9"), 13, 16 and 18, each of his conventional ones from inside of nine feet. He registered 1.583 putts per GIR and 0.188 SG: Putting, wrapping the week with 23 birdies against four bogeys. This was the Aussie's 12th Sony, seventh top 25 and fourth top 10, three of those doubling as top 5s, including a best of T3 two tries ago in 2019. He improves to 5-for-7 on the season with one top 10, replacing a previous-best T13 at the Masters three starts ago, and records his first top 10 since solo 2nd at last season's Arnold Palmer Invitational 16 starts and 10 months ago. Playing out of the sixth-to-last threesome and with preferred lies in effect, World No. 8 Webb Simpson tossed up a day-tying-low 6-under-par 31-33=64 in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii for a 72-hole total of 19-under 261, up nine places to a season-best T4, two short of champion Kevin Na, who carded a 65 out of the final threesome.

The 35-year-old, a pre-tourney 12/1 fave outright, bags his eighth top 25 at the Sony in 11 tries, seventh straight, and fourth top 10, third consecutive with each doubling as top 5s. He improves to 7-for-7 on the season with six top 25s and three top 10s, bettering a T8 at the U.S. Open in his season-opener, and records his first top 5 since T3 at last season's Wyndham nine starts ago. For the week, the Wake Forest alum carded rounds of 65-65-67-64, and totaled one eagle and 22 birdies versus five bogeys. On Sunday, he began T13, five back of pace-setter Brendan Steele (69), and found eight (of 14) fairways and 14 greens in regulation. The North Carolinian lost strokes approaching (-0.002) and around-the-green (-0.788), but gained 0.291 off-the-tee and a sterling 3.965 on-the-green. He squared two bogey-4s at holes 4 and 11 (penalty drop), camouflaged by an eagle-3 at 9 from 23'9", and six circles at 2, 3, 5, 13, 16 and 17, three from between 12 and 45 feet, and two from greater than 31 feet. Playing out of the final threesome and with preferred lies in effect, overnight leader and World No. 114 Brendan Steele stalled out to a 1-under-par 32-37=69 in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii to post 19-under 261, falling three spots to T4, two in arrears of playing competitor and champion Kevin Na (65).

The 37-year-old falls to 1-for-6 as a 54-hole leader/co-leader, zero for his last five. His most recent before today was here last year, where he led by three, shot 1-over 71 and lost in extra time. This week, after kicking off with 65-66 and career-low 61, the UC-Riverside alum led by two over two players, including Na. On nine (of 14) fairways and 14 greens in regulation, he gained 0.429 strokes off-the-tee but lost 1.236 approaching and 0.440 around-the-green. The Californian went out in bogey-free 3-under, carding birdie at hole 7 from 12'5" and eagle at 9 from 20'11", and now led by three over Billy Horschel and Na. He stumbled from there, however, coming home in birdie-less 2-over after bogey-5s at 10 (3-putt from 77'11") and 14 (failed scramble). Steele missed birdie at 17 from 9'6", and again at the last from 8'3", posting a pedestrian 1.929 putts per GIR and -0.287 SG: Putting. Overall, this was his third Sony and second cash, improves to 4-for-7 on the season with one top 25, and records his first top 10 since T6 at last season's Travelers 13 starts ago. Steele, who is in the published field at this coming week's American Express, totaled one eagle and 23 birdies against six bogeys.

Playing out of the third-to-last threesome and in his final start on a Major Medical Extension, World No. 263 Chris Kirk rallied for a 5-under-par 34-31=65 in the final round of the Sony Open in Hawaii to finish up on 20-under 260, up two places into a two-way T2, one adrift of champion Kevin Na, who also shot 65 (out of the final threesome).

The 35-year-old needed a two-way T3 to meet the terms of his medical and carded four 65s to seal the deal. It's his ninth career top-3 finish and fifth runner-up in 256 events, and first podium since T2 at the 2016-17 opposite-field Sanderson Farms 89 starts ago as a 54-hole co-leader. This was the Georgia alum's 11th consecutive Sony and third top 10, joining a T10 in 2018 and solo 2nd in 2014 as the 54-hole leader by one. He improves to 5-for-6 on the season with two top 25s and one top 10, bettering a prior-best T18 at the RSM two starts ago, and records his first top 10 since T6 at the 2018 FedEx St. Jude. For the week, the Georgian tallied two eagles and 24 birdies versus five bogeys and one triple, and is in the published field at this coming week's American Express. In the finale, he was 2-over thru five holes, squaring bogey-5s at 1 and 3 (watered tee ball), but righted the ship with seven circles at 6, 8, 9, 12-14 and 18, losing 0.496 strokes with the flat stick but gaining 1.974 approaching and 0.652 around-the-green.
