In retrospect, Noah Dobson can appreciate the benefit of having a limited role in 2019-20.
Dobson had a goal and seven points in 34 contests while averaging 13:17 minutes as a rookie last season. He spent a fair amount of time as a healthy scratch, which wasn't easy for him, but the limited role might have been to his benefit in the long run. "Last year, just being honest, not playing isn’t fun, you always want to be playing," Dobson said. "But I think the amount of time we had off in the offseason, I had time to reflect on just the year itself. Looking back, I feel like it’s probably going to be the best thing for me moving forward." This season has been significantly different so far. He has played in the Islanders' first three games while averaging 17:25 minutes. He's still not logging big minutes, but he's becoming a mainstay on the Islanders' defense. Jan 20 7:03 am (EST)
