Although Max Domi sees himself as a pass-first player, he wants to shoot more going forward.
“You can’t change too much of who you are as a player,” said Domi. “I’ve been like that since I was a little kid. (But) if you can establish that shot mentality, and all of a sudden other stuff opens up, that’s how you can grow your game. So that’s where I’m at personally, for trying to understand there’s a right time to shoot — and a shot is definitely not a bad play ever.” Domi has only fired over 200 shots once and that was in 2018-19 when he scored 28 goals on 203 shots. He fell last season to 17 goals on 179 shots, which was still his second-highest shot total in the NHL. It would probably do him some good if he does manage to shoot more. Jan 13 8:59 am (EST)
