Malcolm Subban is gearing up for his shot to be a starting goaltender.

Subban is set to enter next season with a real chance of establishing himself as the Blackhawks next number one goaltender, but he'll face competition from Collin Delia and Kevin Lankinen. The Blackhawks might begin the season with all three goaltenders on the roster and all three of them are expected to get a fair chance to prove their worth. Eventually though, the Blackhawks are hoping that one will rise above the rest. “I’ve been preparing for it for a long time now,” Subban said. “You’ve just got to keep working hard, you put the work in to get the opportunity. It’s three great goaltenders with Deels and Lanks. It’s good competition. We got to know each other in the (Edmonton) bubble. They’re great guys. Our one goal is whatever opportunity we get, it’s to help the team win, and that’s the most important thing.” All three goaltenders are close to the same age, but Subban has the most NHL experience at 66 games. He was originally taken with the 24th overall pick by the Boston Bruins in 2012, but has yet to be more than a backup goaltender. This coming season will be a pivotal one in his career.
