Andreas Athanasiou scored his third goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

Athanasiou has scored a goal in each of his three games with the Kings, as he has really fit in well in his new surroundings. The amazing thing about his three-game goal-scoring streak is that he has taken only three shots on goal all season. That's pinpoint accuracy. He also sports a stellar plus-3 rating heading into Thursday's rematch against the Avs at Staples.

Cal Petersen allowed three goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 home loss against the Colorado Avalanche.

It wasn't a bad start for Petersen. He allowed a first-period, even-strength goal to Brandon Saad, then a couple of power-play markers to Devon Toews and Mikko Rantanen which were not his fault. He then buckled down for the third period, and his offense pulled back to within 3-2. Petersen didn't win, but he gave his team a chance.

Devon Toews scored his second goal of the season in Tuesday's 3-2 win on the road against the Los Angeles Kings.

The marker for Toews came on the power play, with assists to Samuel Girard and Joonas Donskoi. He has scored twice in his first three games in Denver, as he has jelled instantly with his new club. He is already endearing himself to his teammates for his selflessness, too, blocking six shots. The rest of his team had a total of eight BS.

Mikko Rantanen registered a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings.

Rantanen lit the lamp late in the second period on the man advantage, making it 3-0 at the time. The Kings scratched back for two goals in the third, but Philipp Grubauer bowed his back and help the Avs hang on for the win. As such, Rantanen's power-play marker stood up as the game-winning tally, too.

Philipp Grubauer stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced in Tuesday's 3-2 victory on the road against the Los Angeles Kings.

Grubauer improved to 2-0-1 with a 2.01 goals-against average and .923 save percentage across his three starts so far. The 29-year-old is healthy again, and he is backed by a powerful offense which is considered one of the favorites to win Lord Stanley's Cup in 2021. Mika Zibanejad suffered an undisclosed injury in Tuesday's game against the New Jersey Devils.

Zibanejad appeared to hurt himself on an innocent looking play late in the third period, as he was skating in Devils territory when he lost an edge and fell into the boards awkwardly. The Rangers didn't provide much of an update on Zibanejad's status after the game. He managed to score a goal before exiting the game, but his team still lost by a score of 4-3. Zibanejad is considered day-to-day for now, but losing him for an extended period of time would be a tough blow for the Rangers.

Juuso Riikola suffered an upper-body injury in Tuesday's game against the Washington Capitals.

The Penguins also lost Marcus Pettersson in this one. Riikola had just over eight minutes of ice time before exiting the game for good. Head coach Mike Sullivan didn't provide an update on either defenseman after the game. They're both considered day-to-day for now.
