Mike Williams caught 6-of-7 targets for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' Week 17 win over the Chiefs.
Williams' second 100-yard game of the season was his first since Week 5. Williams' 756 receiving yards were the second most of his career, though 245 off last year's total. That's despite Justin Herbert being an immediate upgrade on Philip Rivers in the deep passing game. The 26-year-old is due a guaranteed-for-injury-only $15.68 million in 2021. That's an extremely steep total for a valuable but one-dimensional player. The Chargers are amongst the 2021 leaders in cap space, so they may be willing to keep Williams at that hefty price in the interest of furthering Justin Herbert's development. Williams could also sign a new multi-year deal that lowers that out-of-whack number. Jan 03 8:37 pm (EST)
