2023 Player Outlook

2023 Recap: Davis' 144 games last year were the most he's played in a season, and he hit .248 for the second straight season, while posting a .738 OPS, 18 home runs, and 69 RBI. However, it was really a tale of two seasons from Davis, as his .277/.350/.450 slash line before the All-Star Break was significantly better than his .207/.290/.359 mark after it. Despite a significant drop from the past two years in terms of his barrel rate, his 9.6 percent mark was still serviceable, and he still made a lot of hard contact. Regression in terms of his hard contact metrics were to be expected, as his 2022 numbers seemed like a considerable outlier.

2024 Outlook: He hits too many ground balls to expect much more power production than what he showed last season, and particularly over the last two seasons, there's much more swing-and-miss in his game. His path to regular playing time was seriously impacted once the Giants signed Matt Chapman to man the hot corner on an everyday basis. He'll get ABs in this lineup, and there's some cheap power appeal with Davis, but the path to regular ABs, especially at third base, is now blocked.
