Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes

Today’s the day we see all the series shift venues to the underdog and the Hurricanes are down 0-2, hosting their first playoff game in a decade.

This is setting up to be the pivotal game of the series since the Caps are up and likely won’t be losing a 3-0 lead if they win tonight. Not much is going to change game to game in a series, we see a bit of line changing going on. Andrei Svechnikov is now on the second forward line, which is where he should be. Love him in this spot tonight and the price on him is super affordable. What you might want to consider doing is taking a stand with the Hurricanes tonight and fading the Capitals. I know that sounds like a risky thing to do, but some of the Capitals players struggle while on the road this season. Center Evgeny Kuznetsov has only four of 21 goals on the road this season, while Nicklas Backstrom has nine of 25 goals on the road. Pretty clear splits for those guys and paying somewhat expensive prices isn’t the best thing to do on a small slate. You can always be confident with Alex Ovechkin since his shot volume is consistent if he’s at home, on the road, early in the season, late in the season, etc.

The Canes have an implied team total sitting at 2.87, which is actually the highest on the slate and are -127 home favorites, which is also the highest on the slate. Sebastian Aho, Justin Williams, and Nino Niederreiter comprise the first forward line which should be a top stacking option tonight. Really no one on the Hurricanes is expensive, with Aho at 5.8K on DK and 6.4K on FD as their most expensive option. Dougie Hamilton, Jaccob Slavin, and Justin Faulk are the options on defense for the Canes, who all see power-play time.

Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs

This series is tied going into Game 3 and is looking to go the distance based on what we saw in Game 2. Very physical play is here to stay between them and few notes to take account for.

Nazem Kadri is having a player safety hearing this afternoon based on the cross-check in Game 2 and will almost certainly be suspended a few games. This has William Nylander as the center on the third forward line and Andres Johnsson now on the first power-play unit in Kadri’s spot. The Bruins will have Jake DeBrusk and Torey Krug in the lineup, who were both questionable after suffering big hits in Game 2.

It's the usual cast of characters for both teams, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand, and David Pastrnak will always be the highest projected players for the Bruins due to their time on the ice, shots totals, and power-play correlation. The third forward line of Charlie Coyle, David Backes, and Danton Heinen make a very interesting GPP stack tonight.

Auston Matthews has eight shots in the first two games but yet to record a point. Hopefully, he gets on the board tonight in their first home game. Mitch Marner has two goals and eight shots in the first two games and should always be in your lineups. John Tavares will likely draw an easier matchup based on line matching and should be one of the top overall players on the slate. Add Morgan Rielly into the mix for an expensive power-play stack with plenty of upside. Kasperi Kapanen, Zach Hyman, Patrick Marleau, and Jake Muzzin are all viable tournaments options at their given salaries.

Nashville Predators at Dallas Stars

The Predators announced today that Wayne Simmonds and Brian Boyle will both be out for this game due to various injuries. Regardless if they were in or not, certainly not seeing a whole lot of fantasy value for either team. The first two games in this series have combined for eight goals, which is barely enough for some of these players to reach fantasy value.

Tyler Seguin, Jamie Benn, Mats Zuccarello, Alexander Radulov, John Klingberg, and Miro Heiskanen lead the way for Dallas. The first five in that last make up the entire first power-play unit, which brings fantasy potential if they are able to find the back of the net. Do I like them as fantasy options tonight? Yes. Do I like this game overall? Not really. This has been a classic Central Division matchup, which plays slower and lacks offensive upside.

I will say that the Nashville options tonight are rather cheap on DraftKings, which makes them a viable stacking option. You can always look towards Roman Josi, P.K. Subban, Ryan Ellis, and Mattias Ekholm on defense to provide value since blocking shots and a bit of power-play upside is what they’re known for.

Calgary Flames at Colorado Avalanche

This game has the Flames coming in with an implied team total at 2.87 with the Avalanche at 2.63. We have seen both games hit the “under” in the first two games, where Game 1 was a shutout for Flames goalie Mike Smith.

The only news we should consider in this game is on the Colorado side, who will have recently signed prospect from UMass Cale Makar, make his NHL debut and should be on the second power-play unit according to reports this morning. He is the absolute minimum salary on both sites and why not take a GPP shot with him? Other than that, no real line changes to take note of and we should see much of the same from the first two games. If I had to pick any game on the slate to have the most scoring it would be this one and the Bruins vs Maple Leafs game, so think about a potential game stack here. The secondary options for the Flames are a bit better compared to the Avs, so you can spend up on Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen if you want to go for that stack.
