Toronto Maple Leafs at Buffalo Sabres

The Maple Leafs are on the second night of a back to back and on the road in Buffalo, which means they will have Garrett Sparks in net going up against Carter Hutton, both are confirmed.

The Leafs got shutout last night, but fully expect them to bounce back with a 3.50 implied goal total, which is the highest on the slate, along with having the highest expected Corsi For sitting at 50.2 tonight. They appear to be the chalk team of the night since they have one of the better matchups on paper but as we know, their top options are expensive but have multi-point upside. Auston Matthew, John Tavares, Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly, and William Nylander is where you want to be spending if you can afford them.

On the other side, the Sabres are in a decent spot on paper but have been struggling as of late. They are only scoring 2.31 goals per game over the past month, which is the third lowest of any team on the slate. The matchup is solid since the Maple Leafs have a 52 Corsi Against over the past month while allowing 3.71 goals per game, both of which are the worst on the slate. The Sabres really do make a solid GPP team tonight and you should be looking at Jack Eichel, Jeff Skinner, Sam Reinhart, and Rasmus Dahlin for a stack. After that, their forward lines are kinda garbage and don’t bring a ton of upside.

Tampa Bay Lightning at Washington Capitals

We have a fantastic matchup tonight between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and what could be a preview for a playoff matchup.

The Capitals are on the second night of a back to back and coming off an easy win against the Devils, but a very different game tonight against the Lightning who are allowing just 2.42 goals per game over the past month, which is the best of any team in action tonight. These teams played just five days ago where the Lightning won 6-3, but we shouldn’t be in for that type of game tonight. I’m feeling a 4-3 type game, much closer, but still a game with plenty of scoring to go around.

Oddly enough, both of these teams really haven’t changed too much since the beginning of the season and we know what we are getting from each side. Expensive options you want to be stacking up and ideally, you would set this up to be a game stack for GPPs tonight. Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Tom Wilson, Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, Jakub Vrana, and John Carlson have the most upside for the Capitals. But cheaper options like Lars Eller, Brett Connolly, Dmitri Orlov, and Michal Kempny shouldn’t be overlooked.

For the Lightning, we have the same situation with many expensive options to pay up for and a few cheaper ones along the way. Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, Tyler Johnson, and Victor Hedman are the expensive choices. While Ondrej Palat, Yanni Gourde, J.T. Miller, Alex Killorn, and Mikhail Sergachev are the cheaper ones.

Ottawa Senators at Vancouver Canucks

Despite this game having two teams, not in the playoffs, we can look to a few DFS options here and there.

The Canucks come in with the second highest expected Corsi For set at 49.9 tonight since they are up against the Senators, who are simply rolling out a minor league team to end the season. We’ve been targeting the Senators all season and we won’t be stopping now. The Senators are allowing 3.38 goals per game over the past month, which is actually an improvement for them, but still a spot we want to be attacking. Brock Boeser, Bo Horvat, Elias Pettersson, Josh Leivo, and Alexander Edler offer the highest raw projections for the Canucks and should the top targets.

Over the past month, the Canucks are giving up a ton of shots, which is nice for cash games, but they are only allowing 2.85 goals per game, which his actually pretty solid. That should put Jacob Markstrom for the Canucks in play as a goalie. Don’t really like too many of the Senators options for DFS, but if you want to go there, look at Brady Tkachuk, Bobby Ryan, Cody Ceci, and Anthony Duclair for some potential leverage in tournaments.

Winnipeg Jets at Anaheim Ducks

The Ducks have been a team we’ve been targeting all season, but they’ve been improving ever so slightly over the past month on defense, so this is a GPP spot only to attack them. The Jets are on the road and come in with an implied team total sitting at 3.23, which is the fourth highest on the slate, so there is certainly some merit to going to them tonight. They are scoring 3.38 goals per game over the past month, but come in with a 40.31 Corsi For over the past month, which his actually worst on the slate. They don’t offer the same floor of points they had earlier in the season. I still think the Ducks are a bad team and the Jets are fine to stack, just don’t be going all in on them tonight. Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler, Patrik Laine, Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers, Kevin Hayes, and Jacob Trouba are the ones to be targeting in this game. The Ducks aren’t really taking too many shots or scoring too many goals and for their modest prices, you could shift that to the Canucks who are in a much better spot.
