Los Angeles Dodgers

This late in the season it can be tough to find teams who NEED to be winning, as they are either eliminated from the playoffs or have already clinched their spot. The Dodgers are one of the teams we’ll be looking at today who are in a spot where they have to win. This means no resting starters and they will be rolling out their best lineup. Tonight, they will be up against Madison Bumgarner , who has given up three or more earned runs in three of his last four starts, with two of those starts being at five and six earned runs. Bumgarner is giving up 1.16 HR/9 to righties along with a 44% hard contact rate this season. Now, this isn’t the best hitter’s park, so the Dodgers only come in with an implied run total set at 4.03, but still some upside in a spot where they have to pick up the win. Matt Kemp .242 ISO. Manny Machado .242 ISO. Justin Turner .224 ISO. Chris Taylor .198 ISO. Yasmani Grandal .182 ISO.

Oakland Athletics

If they Athletics are able to take care of business this weekend versus a bad Angels team and the Yankees lose against the Red Sox, Oakland can actually grab the first wild card seed. So they have something to play for, which again, is tough to find at this part of the season, so why not target a team who has some home run upside tonight? They are up against Jaime Barria , who is giving up a .364 wOBA to righties along with 1.65 HR/9. The Athletics come in with an implied run total set at 4.72, which is the fifth highest on the slate, so we are expecting a good amount of runs from them. Plenty of power hitter from them, some of which aren’t too expensive. Khris Davis .315 ISO. Matt Chapman .265 ISO. Matt Olson .254 ISO. Stephen Piscotty .219 ISO. Jed Lowrie .187 ISO.

Colorado Rockies

Anytime you can get exposure to the hitters at Coors Field you should be doing so due to their high ceiling and tonight is no different. The Rockies are yet another team who can lock up a playoff spot with a few more wins, so we want to be targeting them tonight. Have a very clear theme going on with these teams, they all NEED to win. The Rockies are always very expensive at home, so you will need to either spend down at pitching or find some serious value out there to fit them into your lineup. They are up against Joe Ross tonight, who is giving up a .328 wOBA to lefties and a .355 wOBA to righties, but it comes from a very small sample size. Colorado has an implied run total set at 5.90, which is highest on the slate. David Dahl .299 ISO. Trevor Story .234 ISO. Charlie Blackmon .219 ISO. Carlos González .194 ISO. Nolan Arenado .189 ISO.
