PHI @ CLS

The Flyers are looking good right now, and have won four of their last five games, along with scoring four or more goals in four straight. We only have a four game slate, so you have to pick and choose your spots, and the Flyers are looking to be a good one. They have an expected corsi for of 46, so a good amount of shot attempts to go around.

The top power-play of Sean Couturier, Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, and Shayne Gostisbehere is where I would focus your salary if you are going to roster any Philadelphia players tonight. Couturier and Giroux are on the first forward line together, so a nice bit of correlation there. It will also help that they are up against the Blue Jackets, who have a 52 corsi against for the past month. They are giving up a ton of shots, which ultimately could lead to several goals for the Flyers. Going to the second forward line would be the only other stack I would suggest, the second power-play unit really isn’t worth rostering, even on a smaller slate.

For the Blue Jackets, they are in a good spot. They are 28th in the league when it comes to goals per game, so not the best team to target on most nights. There is a bit of upside, since they will be up against the backup goalie for the Flyers, combined with the fact, they have a corsi for sitting at 56 for the past month. They are taking a ton of shots, just never truly converting them into scoring chances. If you choose to play the GPP side of things, go with the first stack of Panarin, Atkinson, Jones, and Foligno. On a slate like this, they are clearly one of the teams near the bottom of my list, and would rather go elsewhere for some offense. With that said, they should be one of the lower owned teams on the slate.

Both teams in the game played last night, so could be a bit of a messy one, which has the potential for plenty of goals. As we know, the Islanders are one of the best scoring teams in the league, combined with the fact, they have given up the most goals in the league this season. An interesting combination, which makes it easy to attack their games from either side.

For the Islanders, they are coming off a 3-0 win last night, where their best player and captain, John Tavares, scored no points, and only had one shot. Very slow night for him, and we should be looking for a bit of a correction tonight. He is on the first forward line and the first power-play line, so given the amount of ice time he sees, he won’t be held for that few points every game. If you want to ride him in cash solo, that is fine, but if you want to stack him up, go with the first forward line with Lee and Bailey. I also like the idea of going to the second forward line of Barzal, Eberle, and Beauvillier. A bit cheaper, and they all see time on the power-play, just not the same one.

The Canes are in a great spot tonight, since the Islanders are not only giving up plenty of goals, but have a 58 corsi against for the last month. That means they are giving up a ton of shots, and yes shots don’t equal goals, but the constant pressure on offense is never a bad thing. I really like the Canes top power-play tonight, who also make up the first forward line. Staal, Teravainen, and Aho are all solid options, who aren’t too expensive. If you are looking to have multiple line stacks in your lineup, they make a great addition, since the savings are there.

COL @ WPG

The Jets are a -205 favorite in this game, which is the largest favorite on the slate. They are at home, where they have been very strong this season, and come into this game with and implied goal total of 3.28, which is second highest on the slate. The lines for the Jets can be a bit top heavy, meaning most of their scoring comes from their top units, making them a bit more expensive. Mark Scheifele is back from his injury, and in these three games, he has put up four points. Jumping in right where he left off, on the top forward line and first power-play, making him a great cash game option for tonight. Speaking of their top power-play, yes it’s very expensive, but love the multi-point upside from them, and should be high on your list tonight. Wheeler, Connor, Laine and Byfuglien are also on the first power-play, which is where you want to target your exposure for the Jets.

The Avalanche were super-hot in January with their 10 game win streak, but have since fallen back down to earth. They have an implied goal total of 2.22, which is the lowest for any team on the slate. Clearly not a cash game option tonight, and you should be looking at them for GPPs only. They will likely be facing off against Hellebuyck, who has 20 wins in 25 home starts. Truly a GPP option only for Colorado, and if you choose to go that route, stay with Landeskog, Rantanen and Compher on the top power-play.

STL @ DAL

This has the makings to be the best game of the night, and it could be without a ton of fantasy value. We have two division rivals facing off, who are separated by just two points in the standings. We also have two of the better defensive teams in the league, so despite some pricey options up top, the defense could shine through. Part of the problem here is that both of these offenses can put up goals in a hurry, but simply not the best spot. If one of these offenses does put up several goals tonight, I won’t be surprised.

For the Blues, you want exposure to Tarasenko anytime you have the salary, since he is a hat trick waiting to happen. But he makes more of a GPP option tonight compared to cash games. Really anyone on the top two power-play units are good for GPPs, but not so much cash. So stick with, Steen, Stastny, Schenn, Schwartz, and Pietrangelo.

The same thing applies to the Stars tonight, good offensive team, but simply not the best spot going against the Blues. From a real hockey fan perspective, this could be a great game, so still fun to watch. I like John Klingberg as a cash game option tonight, since he plays a ton of minutes, and can add points in multiple ways. For the forwards, Benn, Seguin, and Radulov are players I always like to have exposure to when they play, but same with the Blues, they will be GPP only tonight, since there are other teams in better spots for cash games.
