Updated with the Early Game Starters
One thing that became apparent early on in my EPL DFS research for Tuesday was just how many strong midfield options are in this slate. That isn’t a problem on FanDuel, where all of the midfielders and forwards are lumped together, but it does present some challenging decisions on DraftKings. In DFS slates where one position is stacked, I usually like to fill the rest of my lineup first, since I can be confident that I can round out my lineup with players I like no matter how much money I have remaining. That is a good strategy for this slate as well, though there are enough players at the other positions that you will be fine if you discover there are a couple of midfielders you just have to have.
Goal Keepers | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Karl Darlow | NEW | LEE | 4200 | 6.78 | 7 | 10.74
Ederson | MCI | WBA | 5900 | 8.45 | 14 | 13.53
Sam Johnstone | WBA | MCI | 3600 | 5.45 | 6 | 8.81
As I mentioned above, I don't think Johnstone is as safe as Karl Darlow, but he could be a better value. City has struggled at center forward all season with Sergio Aguero out, and their offense should take a hit with Kevin De Bruyne out. Johnstone's ceiling is limited, but he could rack up saves and allow you to spend up elsewhere. |
Forwards | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Callum Wilson | NEW | LEE | 5800 | 10.65 | 18 | 16.13
Newcastle have struggled to score lately, but when you watch them play, Wilson is the lone bright spot. He can't do it all on his own, but he won't have to if Allan Saint-Maximin gets the start. Leeds have conceded 1.89 goals per game this season, second only to West Brom. Wilson is far too cheap on DK for someone who is +155 to score a goal in this game.
Raphinha | LEE | NEW | 8000 | 11.43 | 14 | 14.39
Only three teams have conceded more goals than Newcastle this season, and Raphinha is the player for Leeds I trust the most, especially on DK. Raphinha is averaging 7.3 crosses in his last seven games.
Michail Antonio | WHU | CRY | 8200 | 11.56 | 19 | 16.60
Antonio has scored in both games since returning from a hamstring injury. Only Leeds and West Brom have conceded more goals than Crystal Palace this season, and Antonio is by far the most likely player to take advantage of that fact. |
Midfielders | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Ilkay Gundogan | MCI | WBA | 7100 | 10.99 | 15 | 16.08
Bukayo Saka | ARS | SOU | 9400 | 13.85 | 16 | 15.19
Bernardo Silva | MCI | WBA | 6100 | 6.31 | 13 | 8.94
Its a shame he scored against Villa because I suspect it raised his price quite a bit. Silva was barely heard from in that game but was in the right place at the right time (and had a very nice finish) to score his first goal of the season. He was miscast as a false nine in that game, but I think he is ideally suited to taking on some of the playmaking responsibilities vacated by Kevin De Bruyne. So long as Jesus, Mahrez or Torres are starting up front, Silva should be a very nice value.
Phil Foden | MCI | WBA | 8800 | 10.55 | 17 | 13.67
Emile Smith Rowe | ARS | SOU | 5800 | 9.55 | 14 | 13.54
He has been inconsistent, but he has double-digit DK fantasy points in three of his five games, with at least two chances created in four of those games. Smith Rowe is a GPP play on both sites.
Midfielders | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Eberechi Eze | CRY | WHU | 6200 | 9.44 | 12 | 10.78
Jack Harrison | LEE | NEW | 7700 | 13.04 | 16 | 16.06
Ryan Fraser | NEW | LEE | 5300 | 4.98 | 9 | 4.11
The biggest knock against Fraser is that he is unlikely to play 90 minutes, but he has been good in limited time, with at least four crosses in each of his last four starts. He should split set pieces with Jonjo Shelvey, but unlike Shelvey, Fraser is actually dangerous in open play. |
Defenders | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Joao Cancelo | MCI | WBA | 5300 | 9.86 | 15 | 17.35
Liam Cooper | LEE | NEW | 3700 | 7.02 | 13 | 15.88
Hector Bellerin | ARS | SOU | 3900 | 5.99 | 8 | 11.40
He has at least three crosses in each of his last three games, and including four crosses in 71 minutes against Southampton on Saturday. I see no reason to believe Tuesday will be any different.
Jake Vokins | SOU | ARS | 2800 | 0 | 5 | 6.90
It sounds like he is the favorite to replace Ryan Bertrand, though Jack Stephens could get moved to left back as well. I don't necessarily expect Vokins to get forward as much as Bertrand does, but there's at least a chance we're getting solid production at a big discount.
Jack Stephens | SOU | ARS | 3500 | 5.67 | 13 | 15.35
Only Liverpool and Sheffield have allowed more clearances to opponents than Arsenal this season. Jan Bednarek has more clearances than Stephens but Stephens is slightly cheaper and has a higher floor. Stephens is a great play for FD at center back but I would like him for DK if he moves to left back with Ryan Bertrand out. |
Example Lineups
As always, the lineups below are examples of lineups you can make using the players in the Playbook and are not for plug and play.
