Today’s EPL DFS slate feels completely different from Saturday’s. Saturday’s slate had a ton of great defending options, while quality defenders are much harder to find Sunday. There are still a lot of attackers worth paying up for, which makes finding cheap defenders even more important. Be sure to check the starting lineups before each game for any surprise starters we can use in our lineups.
Goal Keepers |
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Hugo Lloris | TOT | CHE | 4600 | 8.45 | 9 | 12.83 |
No team has scored more goals than Chelsea this season, which is probably why Lloris is so cheap. Of course, only Liverpool have more shots on target than Chelsea, so Lloris could have some opportunities to rack up saves. Spurs have conceded the fewest goals in the league this season, and I think they'll succeed in keeping this game low-scoring as well. |
Rui Patricio | WOL | ARS | | | 8 | 11.78 |
It was pretty much a guarantee that I would play whichever keeper was cheapest from this game. Only Spurs have conceded fewer goals than Arsenal and Wolves, and only West Brom, Sheffield and Burnley have scored fewer. I don't see any reason to pay up for Leno, so give me Patricio. |
Alex McCarthy | SOU | MUN | 4400 | 9.05 | 7 | 14.39 |
If you cannot afford Lloris, or you are afraid of Chelsea's attack, I think McCarthy is a fine alternative. United have only scored 13 goals in eight games this season, while Southampton have conceded 13 in nine games. This matchup isn't nearly as scary as we are used to. |
Forwards |
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Harry Kane | TOT | CHE | 8900 | 24.55 | 22 | 37.09 |
One of the nice things about playing Spurs in DFS is that so much of their attack goes through Kane and Son. You don't really have to mess around with anyone else, unless you're desperate for a cheap option. Kane has double-digit fantasy points in eight straight games, and this is as cheap as he has been in some time. |
Eddie Nketiah | ARS | WOL | | | 14 | 4.36 |
I'm not expecting a lot of goals, but Nketiah is cheap and he could get his second start of the season with Pepe out and Willian questionable. Riess Nelson would be an even more attractive play if he starts instead. |
Che Adams | SOU | MUN | 7100 | 11.14 | 19 | 18.80 |
He has a goal or an assist in four of his last five games. He is Southampton's best attacker with Danny Ings out. |
Marcus Rashford | MUN | SOU | 6900 | 12.22 | 19 | 18.48 |
I don't understand why he is so cheap on DraftKings. He is averaging more fantasy points than several players priced above him, including Che Adams, Tammy Abraham and Timow Werner. He is a GPP play on both sites. |
Midfielders |
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Son Heung-Min | TOT | CHE | 8100 | 21.7 | 20 | 30.81 |
Last week we talked about the idea Tottenham's attack would actually be better against tougher teams because they would be able to counter-attack rather than trying to break down a team that is sitting back defensively, and that certainly appeared to be the case against Manchester City. Chelsea have only conceded one goal in their last four games, but I think they'll be vulnerable not that they're playing a good team again. Harry Kane is safer, but Son may be the better value, as he was last week. |
Bruno Fernandes | MUN | SOU | 9800 | 25.05 | 23 | 36.33 |
United still aren't scoring goals the way we expected at the start of the season, but Fernandes has been involved in most of the goals they have scored. He has at least four crosses in seven of his eight games, including five straight, and he leads the league in chances created. Southampton have been solid defensively this season, but Fernandes remains one of the safest plays in DFS. |
James Ward-Prowse | SOU | MUN | 7500 | 13.94 | 16 | 18.79 |
His 7.5 DK fantasy points last week against Wolves were his fewest since mid October. The assists may be harder to come by with Danny Ings out, but he is as consistent as they come for cash games. |
Theo Walcott | SOU | MUN | 6500 | 11.27 | 13 | 13.74 |
He has a goal and an assist in the two games Danny Ings has missed, with at least two shots in every start this season. The only thing Walcott is missing is forward eligibility on DK. |
Moussa Djenepo | SOU | MUN | 3600 | 5.33 | 11 | 8.08 |
He has at least 7 DK fantasy points in three straight games, and he is the best bargain midfielder on the slate. |
Defenders |
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG |
Ryan Bertrand | SOU | MUN | 4200 | 7.04 | 10 | 10.70 |
Bertrand is the cheapest defender I trust on DraftKings. He has at least 6.6 DK fantasy points in five of his eight games this season. |
Alex Telles | MUN | SOU | 5500 | 14.6 | 13 | 11.50 |
He had seven crosses and two shots in his Premier League debut, and his salary dropped $1,600 on DK. He appears to have the best matchup of any of the top defenders, and he is significantly cheaper than Ben Chilwell or Reece James. He is a GPP play on FanDuel, just in case all those crosses lead to chances created or attacking returns. |
Timothy Fosu-Mensah | MUN | SOU | 3300 | 6.5 | 7 | 13.80 |
He started at right back in the season-opener, hitting four crosses and creating two chances against Crystal Palace. Fosu-Mensah could be the bargin defender we're looking for on DraftKings, if he starts in place of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Of course, Wan-Bissaka hasn't been getting forward much these days, so there is no guarantee Fosu-Mensah would, either. |
Rob Holding | ARS | WOL | | | 9 | 13.55 |
Holding has scored at least 15.4 FD fantasy points in four of his six games this season. Gabriel Magalhaes may have a higher ceiling, but HOlding has been just as good this season and is much safer. |
Jannik Vestergaard | SOU | MUN | 3500 | 6.98 | 14 | 19.76 |
No player in the Premier League has more clearances per start, minimum two starts. He should be the safest defender on FanDuel by far. |
The EXAMPLE lineups are meant to show different roster constructions that are made with drivers from the Playbook. These are not meant to be plugged and played.
