The WNBA season ends on Sunday, and all eight teams in Friday’s WNBA DFS Slate are playing their penultimate game of the season. The eight teams playoff teams are set, and some of the seeds are as well. That being said, there are some teams with things to play for Friday, and while it’s won’t be possible to use players exclusively from those teams for DFS, I’m going to try to get more exposure to them if possible.
Washington has a one-game lead over the Sun, but Connecticut holds the tiebreaker. Connecticut is a league-best 15-1 at home, so it is crucial for Washington to win out and secure the number one seed. The Mystics have huge blowout potential at home against Dallas, but at least we know their starters will play so long as the game is close.
Connecticut is locked into a double-bye, so they probably have less incentive to rest their starters than the teams below them in the standings. On top of that, they probably need homecourt advantage to have any shot of beating Washington in a series. You could argue Washington is going to win out anyway, so the Sun can afford to rest some players, but that seems unlikely.
Chicago still has a chance at a first-round bye if they win out, and they could fall to the sixth seed if they lose out, so their rotation will likely be the same as it has been. Minnesota has a chance to pass the Sky for fifth, but they could also fall down to seventh, which would mean they’d have to go on the road in the first round. Minnesota is 6-9 on the road this season, and they should do everything they can to secure home court in the first round.
Phoenix is locked into the eighth seed, so it would probably makes sense to at least rest Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner in one of the last two games. Diana Taurasi is questionable, and while there is no reason to risk it if there’s any chance of re-injury, you could argue she needs to play and actually make a couple of shots if Phoenix is going to have a chance in the first round.
Finally, we have Indiana and New York. If New York loses, they clinch the best lottery odds for the upcoming draft. If Indiana loses, they’ll enter into a tie. Indiana keeps playing Candice Dupree 37+ minutes per game, so they don’t appear concerned about their lottery odds. The Liberty are giving heavy minutes to Marine Johannes and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe while barely playing Tina Charles 20 minutes per game, and I don’t see any reason why that would change Friday.
Player | FanDuel | DraftKings | Comments |
Napheesa Collier, F, MIN | $7,600 | $10,300 | Collier has scored at least 28 fantasy points in five straight games, and only the Dream have allowed more opponents' rebounds than the Mercury. |
Teaira McCowan, F, IND | $7,200 | $10,100 | Four straight double-doubles; averaging 43.5 fantasy points in those games. |
Emma Meesseman, F, WAS | $6,900 | $9,900 | Meesseman has played at least 33 minutes in each of her last two games, and she's averaging 40.8 fantasy points in those two games. She's a borderline must-play if Aerial Powers is out again. |
Courtney Williams, G, CON | $7,100 | $9,400 | The Sky are 11th in fantasy points allowed to guards. Williams has at least 29 fantasy points in nine straight games, and she had at least 40 fantasy points in three of those games. She is a great play in both formats. |
Jasmine Thomas, G, CON | $6,500 | $8,300 | Thomas is averaging 29.5 fantasy points against the Sky, and she and Courtney Williams are just too fast for Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley to guard. Thomas has been better all season at home, and she should be a strong cash play. |
Isabelle Harrison, F, DAL | $7,000 | $8,200 | Harrison has played at least 28 minutes in three straight games, and she has topped 33 fantasy points in two of her last four games. I wish she was more consistent, but we know the minutes and potential are there. |
Allie Quigley, G, CHI | $6,100 | $7,700 | The Sun rank 10th in opponent's three point attempts, and Allie Quigley is averaging 28.4 fantasy points in two games against Connecticut this season. |
Candice Dupree, F, IND | $5,800 | $7,600 | Dupree has played at least 37 minutes in both games Natalie Achonwa has missed, and she has scored at least 23 fantasy points in four straight games. I love her for cash, but she is a must-play if Achonwa is out again. |
Glory Johnson, F, DAL | $5,600 | $7,600 | Johnson had 49.7 fantasy points against Washington a week ago, and while I don't expect a repeat, I like knowing she has that upside at her price. The minutes should be there with Imani McGee-Stafford and Kayla Thornton out, but I'd be lying if I said I trust her for cash games. |
Damiris Dantas, F, MIN | $5,900 | $7,300 | Dantas is averaging 29.6 fantasy points over her last four games, and she should be able to take advantage of Phoenix's rebounding woes. |
LaToya Sanders, F, WAS | $5,400 | $7,300 | Sanders has at least 20 fantasy points in six straight games, and at least 30 minutes in two straight. |
Leilani Mitchell, G, PHO | $6,300 | $7,100 | Diana Taurasi is questionable, and Mitchell should see a nice bump in minutes and usage if Tauarasi sits. |
Marine Johannes, G, NY | $5,400 | $6,100 | I'm reluctant to trust her because she's shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 53.3 percent on threes over her last two games, and that's obviously unsustainable. That being said, she has played at least 24 minutes and taken at least 12 shots in both of those games, and if that continues at her price, I'm fine with her missing a few more shots. |
Kennedy Burke, G, IND | $5,000 | $5,700 | She might be the least exciting fantasy player in the entire WNBA, but she is averaging 25.5 minutes and 21.0 fantasy points over her last six games. She is the cheapest guard I trust Friday. |
Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe | $4,800 | $5,100 | Raincock-Ekunwe has played at least 19 minutes and scored at least 20 fantasy points in two straight games. As the Liberty limit Tina Charles's minutes down the stretch, Raincock-Ekunwe should be safe for DFS. |
Kristine Anigwe, F, DAL | $3,600 | $4,400 | Anigwe is averaging 19.8 minutes and 14.8 fantasy points over her last five games. With Imani McGee-Stafford and Kayla Thornton out, I think we can expect similar numbers Friday. |
