I have been playing on PrizePicks for a little over a week, and I have to say I love it so far. If you are already playing NBA DFS, I think it would be silly not to play on PrizePicks, because it is so easy. In the course of my normal NBA DFS research, I just take note of the players I feel very strongly about, either as must-plays or guys I absolutely will not play. Then I go to myprizepicks.com to see their projected point totals. Becaues PrizePicks allows you to play 2-pick, 3-pick or 4-pick entries, you only have to make the picks you really feel strongly about. If there are two players you think will definitely go under but you are on the fence about everyone else, simply play the 2-pick entry, and win 2.5x your entry if you are correct.

Every week in this article I will make four picks, and every week I will play at least one entry on PrizePicks. I feel like making four picks provides the most value for FANation, but I’m only going to play three or four picks if I feel real strongly about them. I will always list my picks in order or preference, so you know if I am playing a 2-pick entry, it is the first two picks listed. I like all four picks this week, and it helps that three of my picks appear in Jon Impemba’s DFS NBA Playbook. That being said, my last two picks make me somewhat nervous, so I’m going with a 2-pick entry. Good Luck, and be sure to let us know in the subscriber chat which picks you’re making.

Steve’s Picks for January 21, 2019:

Blake Griffin vs. Washington Wizards

Projected Fantasy Points: 52.2

OVER

Blake Griffin has at least 32 points, six rebounds and three assists in each of his last two games, and his usage should be through the roof again Monday with Andre Drummond out. Washington ranks 29th in points allowed, 28th in rebounds allowed and 24th in assists allowed. They don’t have anyone to guard Blake Griffin , though it will be fun to watch Jeff Green try.

Kris Dunn vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Projected Fantasy Points: 32.7

OVER

Kris Dunn benefits in this scoring system because he gets a lot of steals, which are worth three points, and he doesn’t turn the ball over much. The Cavaliers have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing point guards, and Dunn had 17 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and one turnover in his only game against Cleveland this season.

Lauri Markkanen vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

Projected Fantasy Points: 32.3

OVER

Markkanen has at least nine rebounds in each of this last two games, and if he continues to rebound at the same rate with Wendell Carter Jr. out, it’s going to be awfully difficult to keep him below 32.3 fantasy points. Cleveland ranks 22nd in rebounding rate, and Markkanen had 31 points, four rebounds and three assists in his only game against Cleveland this season.

Trevor Ariza vs. Detroit Pistons

Projected Fantasy Points: 33.3

OVER

I’m usually far more negative than this, but I feel like all of the players in the early slate who I don’t like have low projections that make it difficult to go under. Trevor Ariza has easily gone over his projection in three consecutive games, due in part to increased rebounding and assist rates. Ariza is averaging 1.6 steals per game, and Detroit ranks 23rd in turnover percentage. Mostly, though, this call is about Ariza emerging as Washington’s secondary playmaker, and my belief that will continue for at least one more game.
