DFS WNBA Playbook & Optimal Lineups: July 1
Steve Pimental provides the best DFS plays and optimal lineups for Sunday's five-game WNBA slate.
Back-to-backs were the story of last week, but Sunday marks the start of a new month, and rest will not be an issue for at least the next week. Only two teams are off Sunday, and those happen to be the teams who played Saturday. Unless Sue Bird gets a surprise day off to rest, we should be good to go.
While rest shouldn’t be an issue, injuries could be. Moriah Jefferson and Nneka Ogwumike are both questionable, and since their teams play at 4:00, we may not know their statuses until after lineups lock. The smart play is probably to just fade Jefferson, but she is so cheap and so good when healthy that I will have to roll the dice if I know she’s healthy. If she can’t go, I will replace her in my DraftKings lineup with Sugar Rodgers or Jantel Lavender.
|Player||FanDuel Price||DraftKings Price||Comments|
|Sylvia Fowles, F, MIN||$ 8,600||$ 13,100||Sylvia Fowles is averaging 21.0 points, 18.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 5.0 steals against Dallas this season.|
|Candace Parker, F, LA||$ 8,200||$ 12,400||Parker struggled against the Aces on Friday, but it seems highly unlikely that would happen again considering the Aces are allowing the second most points in the league.|
|Courtney Vandersloot, G, CHI||$ 7,300||$ 10,100||Like most of her teammates, Courtney Vandersloot has played better with Stefanie Dolson back, recording at least 11 assists in each of her last three games. Slooty has double-doubles in two of those games.|
|Chelsea Gray, G, LA||$ 7,100||$ 9,700||Chelsea Gray has scored at least 28.25 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of her last four games, including three straight with Nneka Ogwumike out. Gray should be safe for as long as Ogwumike is out.|
|Tiffany Hayes, G, ATL||$ 6,700||$ 9,900||Her price is down because she has played just 31 minutes combined over her last two games, but that should change in her second game back from injury. There is some risk she still doesn't reach the 30+ minutes she was getting before her injury, but she may never be this cheap again all season.|
|Candice Dupree, F, IND||$ 6,400||$ 8,400||Dupree is shooting 50 percent from the field on the season but she shot 3-9 in her last game. Atlanta is allowing the most rebounds in the league this season and Candice Dupree is the only Indiana player I even kind of trust.|
|Stefanie Dolson, F, CHI||$ 5,900||$ 8,800||Stefanie Dolson has had at least 13 points, five rebounds, five assists and one block in each of her two games since returning to the starting lineup.|
|Elizabeth Williams, F, ATL||$ 5,600||$ 6,100||Williams sat out Friday but she is not listed as injured for Sunday's game. She has at least 20.5 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of her last four games.|
|Alysha Clark, F, SEA||$ 5,000||$ 4,700||In her second game back from her ankle injury, Alysha Clark had eight points, eight rebounds and four assists against the Sparks Thursday. I think we can expect similar production going forward, and I don't know why she is so cheap on DraftKings.|
|Diamond DeShields, G, CHI||$ 4,700||$ 7,700||Diamond DeShields is averaging 20.3 points and 6.0 rebounds over her last three games. Stefanie Dolson's return has opened up driving lanes for the Sky rookie.|
|Alex Bentley, G, CON||$ 4,300||$ 6,000||Alex Bentley has played at least 20 minutes and scored at least 19.2 fantasy points on FanDuel in each of her last four games.|
|Jantel Lavender, F, LA||$ 3,600||$ 4,000||Lavender has played exactly 27 minutes in each of the last two games with Nneka Ogwumike out. She is averaging 8.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks over those two games, and she is a solid cash play if Ogwumike is out again.|
|Moriah Jefferson, G, LAV||$ 3,500||$ 3,500||Moriah Jefferson has been targeting this game for her return for some time, and she is now considered a game-time decision. Hopefully, we get definitive word before lineups lock, but if she is coming off the bench, we may not know ahead of time. On top of that, we have no idea how many minutes she will play or how explosive she will be coming off the injury. That being said, she is way, way too good for her price, and she should be in a better situation than last season since she now has a competent head coach.|
