In Sunday’s WNBA Playbook, I wrote about the difficulty of finding GPP plays in a slate that was full of cash plays. Tuesday’s four-game WNBA slate is the opposite. With the worst defensive teams in the WNBA getting the night off, we are left with a lot of players, especially the cheaper ones, who have a high ceiling and a low floor.
The biggest exception to this trend is the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx appear to have righted the ship of late, as they are currently on a four-game winning streak after beginning the season 2-6. During their four-game winning streak, their veteran starting lineup of Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson has played like a defending champion. So long as their minutes and usage remain the same, I’m going to ride with them in cash games.
The other exception is the Phoenix Mercury. I don’t trust the Mercury quite as much as I trust the Lynx, but Phoenix probably has the better matchup. We know Brittney Griner, Diana Taurasi and DeWanna Bonner are going to get their points most nights, and if Phoenix does have a big game, Sancho Lyttle will probably be involved as well. There aren’t any other teams in Tuesday's slate who I really feel comfortable with.
Player | FanDuel Price | DraftKings Price | Comments |
Brittney Griner, F, PHO | $ 8,700 | $ 12,800 | Griner is averaging 20.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 4.0 blocks over her last three games. |
Sylvia Fowles, F, MIN | $ 8,500 | $ 12,500 | Fowles has scored at least 36.25 fantasy points on DraftKings in six consecutive games. |
Jewell Loyd, G, SEA | $ 7,800 | $ 10,100 | The Lynx have allowed the second most three-point attempts in the WNBA this season, and only three players have attempted more threes than Jewell Loyd. Loyd is faster than any of Minnesota's guards, and hopefully, she will be able to take advantage of that fact. |
Diana Taurasi, G, PHO | $ 7,700 | $ 11,600 | No one has attempted as many threes (or made as many) as Diana Taurasi, and the Liberty have allowed the third most three-point attempts this season. |
Maya Moore, F, MIN | $ 7,500 | $ 10,900 | Moore has at least 20 points, four rebounds and one steal in each of her last four games. |
Chiney Ogwumike, F, CON | $ 6,800 | $ 10,600 | She is the only Sun player I feel comfortable playing in a cash lineup. She is averaging 16.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game in June. |
DeWanna Bonner, G, PHO | $ 6,600 | $ 9,400 | She doesn't feel quite as safe after two consecutive bad games, but she is a likely bounce back candidate against New York. |
Jasmine Thomas, G, CON | $ 6,100 | $ 8,800 | I probably need to give up on Jasmine Thomas, but she still has a low price and an enormous ceiling. The Mystics have the worst defensive rating of any team in Tuesday's slate, and Thomas could be positioned to take advantage. |
LaToya Sanders, F, WAS | $ 5,100 | $ 6,500 | Sanders is averaging 25.9 fantasy points on FanDuel over her last four games, but of course, she only scored 14.3 points when I recommended her a week ago. That being said, 25.9 points is plenty for her price. |
Rebekkah Brunson, F, MIN | $ 4,800 | $ 6,200 | Brunson is averaging 30 minutes and 22.5 fantasy points per game on Fan Duel over her last four games. Her ceiling may not be particularly high, but she should be safe. |
Azura Stevens, F, DAL | $ 4,600 | $ 4,400 | In her first start of the season on Friday, Azura Stevens had 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal against Los Angeles. She is pretty cheap for a starter with that kind of upside. |
Natasha Cloud, G, WAS | $ 4,500 | $ 7,300 | Cloud has played at least 23 minutes in each of her last nine games. Her production has varied wildly at times, but at least we know she will have an opportunity to put up fantasy numbers. |
Sancho Lyttle, F, PHO | $ 4,500 | $ 6,300 | Only two teams have allowed more rebounds than the Liberty this season, and while Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner are the most obvious picks to take advantage, Sancho Lyttle is averaging 5.3 rebounds per game. |
Seimone Augustus, G, MIN | $ 4,400 | $ 5,900 | In each of her three games since returning from a hamstring injury, Augustus has had at least 11 points, one rebound, three assists and one steal. |
Lindsay Whalen, G, MIN | $ 4,400 | $ 4,300 | Lindsay Whalen 24+ minutes for the second consecutive game Sunday. Whalen had four points, four rebounds and nine assists in that game. Her playing time and production have been inconsistent all season, but she certainly appears to be trending up. |
Alex Bentley, G, CON | $ 4,100 | $ 4,900 | Alex Bentley has played at least 21 minutes in each of her last two games, scoring 18 points on 7-12 shooting Friday before scoring five points on 1-8 shooting Sunday. If she gets similar minutes and shots in this game, she could put up big fantasy points. |
Epiphanny Prince, G, NY | $ 3,400 | $ 5,000 | I recommended Ephiphanny Prince last week and she didn't play a single minute. She played a season-high 24 minutes against the Sparks, and while she didn't do much with that playing time, she has proven in the past she can score points in bunches when she gets hot. He is a worthy GPP play. |
Brionna Jones, F, CON | $ 3,400 | $ 4,500 | Brionna Jones has played at least 23 minutes in three consecutive games and scored at least 17 points in two of those games. I love her upside and price for a GPP. |
