For all of the headlines this week, there aren’t a whole lot of noteworthy late-week waiver adds. Most of the trade deadline deals were addressed in Tuesday’s waiver report, and while the Deshaun Watson injury is devastating, you almost certainly aren’t rushing out to add Tom Savage to your roster. While this list may not be very long, there are some important situations to monitor, especially at tight end.

The players below are listed roughly in the order I would seek to add them, though things could change based on injury reports. Each player is listed along with his ownership percentage in Yahoo! leagues.

Marquise Goodwin (8%), Trent Taylor (0%) and Aldrick Robinson, WR, SF (0%) – With Pierre Garcon on IR, there should be a lot more targets to go around to the 49ers’ ancillary weapons. Trent Taylor appears most likely to slide into Garcon’s role as a possession receiver, but Goodwin has had more targets and yards so far this season. Even if one of these receivers emerges in the next week or two, things could change if/when Jimmy Garoppolo becomes the starting quarterback.

Curtis Samuel (4%) and Russell Shepard, WR, CAR (1%) – One of the reasons Carolina traded Kelvin Benjamin away was reportedly to get more touches for Shepard and Samuel. Shepard seems more likely to be fantasy relevant right away, but Samuel was a second-round pick who probably has more upside if things break right. Neither has more than two receptions in any game this season, and even if one emerges, it may take a few weeks.

Jay Cutler, QB, MIA (13%) – If you are scrambling to replace Deshaun Watson, especially in deeper leagues, Cutler is your best bet. He and DeVante Parker are both healthy, and there is a decent chance they air it out more with Jay Ajayi gone. Oakland’s defense has not been scary this season, especially against the pass, and Miami’s schedule is pretty decent after that.

Chicago Bears DEF (10%) – The Bears held the Saints to 20 points on the road and recovered two fumbles. They host Brett Hundley next week following their bye, and at the very least, they should be safe. The Packers (with Aaron Rodgers) are the only team to score more than 24 points against the Bears this season.

Jonnu Smith, TE, TEN (1%) – Delanie Walker still hasn’t practiced this week, and at the very least, Smith is worth grabbing if you own Walker in a deep league. Smith still hasn’t topped 30 receiving yards in a game but he does have two touchdowns. The rookie third round pick could be productive filling in for Walker, but there is plenty of risk there.

Ryan Griffin, TE, HOU (4%) – Houston targeted their tight ends a ton last season, and while that was most likely due to Brock Osweiler, there is a decent chance they revert to form with Tom Savage filling in for Deshaun Watson. Griffin gets a great matchup against Indianapolis’s terrible defense this week, and he could be a fantasy starter the rest of the way.

Richard Rodgers, TE, GB (0%) – Martellus Bennett did not practice Thursday, and if he cannot go Monday night, Rodgers and Lance Kendrick would likely get the Packers’ tight end snaps. Bennett has only topped three receptions twice this season and is still looking for his first touchdown, so Rodgers’s ceiling isn’t particularly high even if Bennett is out.

Phillip Dorsett, WR, NE (1%) – Chris Hogan is reportedly expected to miss a few weeks, and Phillip Dorsett should see a lot more snaps as a result. Dorsett caught three passes for 68 yards in Week 2 when Danny Amendola was out, so he definitely has some upside. The only issue is New England faces Denver following their Week 9 bye, and it will be difficult to trust Dorsett in that game.

Josh Gordon, WR, CLE (0%) – This is only an add for super deep leagues, and even then I would prefer the Carolina receivers or Phillip Dorsett. That being said, Gordon has been a game-changing player for fantasy in the past, even when his quarterbacks have been terrible. He should immediately be Cleveland’s number one receiver when he returns, which could be as early as Week 13.
