As with most small slates, the challenge Sunday will be to find enough value plays to get to the guys you really want to play. Jimmy Butler and a couple other noteworthy players are questionable, and if they play, finding cheap options could be extremely tough. As it stands right now, you will probably have to pay up at least a little bit at point guard, while center may be the best place to find some value.

Point Guard

Darren Collison is averaging 19.8 points and 3.6 assists in 37.8 minutes over his last five games. Collison played 44 minutes Friday, and he remains a modest value if Ty Lawson is still out. Even if Lawson returns, Collison is the best of a pretty poor point guard middle-class Sunday.

Kyle Lowry has scored fewer than 30 points in four consecutive games, but I doubt the streak gets to five. Even if Lowry struggles from the floor again Sunday, he could post a double-double against a Pistons team that is allowing 23.1 assists per game this season.

Jrue Holiday is probably the safest point guard on the slate, especially if E’Twaun Moore is out again. Holiday had 25 points, 12 assists, six rebounds and five steals in 38 minutes Friday.

Shooting Guard

Denzel Valentine has played at least 15 minutes in each of his last two games, and he will likely play at least 20 if Jimmy Butler is out Sunday. Valentine hasn’t done much with his playing time to this point, but somebody has to score for the Bulls, so why can’t it be Valentine?

Dwayne Wade is averaging 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 33.0 minutes in games Jimmy Butler has missed this season. Wade should be a safe play if Butler sits Sunday.

Buddy Hield is averaging 12.0 points and 2.3 3PM over his last three games. Only the Hornets have allowed more opponent’s threes than the Kings this season, and Hield should be safe for at least a couple more threes Sunday.

Small Forward

Doug McDermott will almost certainly have to see a bump in minutes if Jimmy Butler and Paul Zipser are out, even if McDermott doesn’t start. The Bulls have failed to score 100 points in back-to-back games, and they will almost certainly need McDermott to take a lot of shots if Butler is out.

The only Bull who has any chance to match up with Andrew Wiggins is Jimmy Butler. If Butler is out, Wiggins could have a prolific night offensively.

Kawhi Leonard is a great play for such a small slate, especially if Jimmy Butler is out. No team in Sunday’s slate has allowed as many fantasy points to small forwards as the Knicks.

Power Forward

Dante Cunningham started Friday and had 12 points and four rebounds in 38 minutes. Cunningham should see well over 30 minutes again Sunday if Terrence Jones is still out, and his price is still pretty low.

Kristaps Porzingis is a lot cheaper than LaMarcus Aldridge on FanDuel and DraftKings, and I am not sure why. Porzingis has outscored Aldridge for fantasy over the entire season as well as over the last 10 days, despite Aldridge recording three consecutive double-doubles. Porzingis may not necessarily outscore Aldridge, but he is certainly the better value.

In between Cunningham and Porzingis there is not a ton to get excited about, but Tobias Harris is as solid as they come. Harris is averaging 14.2 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in February.

Center

No team in Sunday’s slate has allowed more fantasy points to centers than the Pelicans, and while Anthony Davis got the better of DeMarcus Cousins in their first matchup,

The center position is pretty top-heavy Sunday, but if you want a safe option who won’t break the bank, Jonas Valanciunas is a fine play. Valanciunas has scored at least 16 points in four straight games, with two double-doubles over that span.

If you want to go even cheaper still you pretty much have to choose between Kyle O’Quinn, Robin Lopez and Dewayne Dedmon. All three have played well over the last week, but I trust Lopez the most, especially if Jimmy Butler is out. Lopez is averaging 13.4 points and 7.2 rebounds over his last five games.
