In advance of the typical depression that follows the National Championship game fueled by the thought that there will be no College Football for months - we have ONE MORE GAME!  Let’s enjoy it and do the best we can to cash in on these final “Showdown” moments for the CFB DFS season.

In order to do this, we must come up with our game script.  Since I am leaning heavily towards a Clemson +5.5 and OVER the total 58 points, we’ll use that as a baseline.  Then, we need to find the best plays and … well, cash in.

DraftKings - Showdown (6 players; 1 “Captain” scores 1.5x points)

In this contest, you pick six FLEX players (regardless of position) and one “Captain” that scores you 1.5x points.  Obviously, let’s start there. Who is our “captain”? It’s Clemson freshman QB Trevor Lawrence. This kid is no longer a true freshman. Since taking the reigns of this offense, he has been the most impressive quarterback in the land - regardless of class. He picked apart a top defense in Notre Dame in the semi-finals and still is a fair amount cheaper than Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa. Speaking of Tua, in a perfect world, I’d like to have him in there too as this game can get offensive in a hurry.

WR Hunter Renfrow at $2,800 is a steal.  He’s a big-game performer, as he already has a National Championship-winning catch against this very Alabama team two years ago.  The Crimson Tide defensive backs are going to focus (for good reason) on the big-time players in Tee Higgins and Justyn Ross. Renfrow will get his targets, catches and return a minimal investment, which, gives us room to spend.

With that flexibility, let’s go with another top Alabama target in Jaylen Waddle.  Waddle came on strong down the stretch, but only hauled in two catches for 20 yards against Oklahoma in the semi-finals. With the lock down on Jerry Jeudy, Waddle comes up big tonight.  So, now we have the two QB’s with lesser-owned options at wide receiver.  Now what? We have $16,200 for two players.

With Lawrence stretching the Bama defense, top back Travis Etienne will have some running room for sure. At $10,400 - he’s expensive, but we prepared for that. Get him in there. That leaves $5,800 for one more player.  Just so happens that another Crimson Tide receiver is sitting right there at that price. Henry Ruggs III  is likely the third target for Tua’s regular progression, but, according to @PFF_College, he produces the best passer rating when targeted.  He got free for a short touchdown against OU and twice against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. He’s a perfect compliment for this DK Showdown lineup:

Captain - Trevor Lawrence (QB, Clemson) - $14,400 - with extra cost for captain status

UTIL - Travis Etienne (RB, Clemson) - $10,400

UTIL - Hunter Renfrow (WR, Clemson) - $2,800

UTIL - Henry Ruggs III (WR, Alabama) - $5,800

UTIL - Tua Tagovailoa (QB, Alabama) - $12,000

UTIL - Jaylen Waddle (WR, Alabama) - $4,600

FanDuel - Single-Game (5 players; 1 MVP at 1.5x points)

Only a slight change in format if playing on FanDuel. We’ll stick with the same general strategy and get Lawrence in there as our “MVP”. Let’s get the two QB’s in there with Tua and go from there. Renfrow is at $7,000 and can be the cheap play in this lineup as well. With this one, we still like Waddle as one of our WR’s and then we are going to pair him up with Clemson break-out true freshman WR Justyn Ross for this one.

MVP - Trevor Lawrence (QB, Clemson) - $15,500

Flex - Hunter Renfrow (WR, Clemson) - $7,000

Flex - Tua Tagovailoa (QB, Alabama) - $16,000

Flex - Justyn Ross (WR, Clemson) - $10,500

Flex - Jaylen Waddle (WR, Alabama) - $9,500

Let’s go get ‘em - one more time! Good luck!
