The bowl season moves along after what ended up being a crazy day/night yesterday with a cancelled game and one in which a winning quarterback posted a 7-for-20 with 27 yards, no touchdowns and four picks! Needless to say, we can’t top that. Though, we do have three intriguing games and plenty of DFS money to be won, so we’ll give you a run through a lineup construction strategy for today’s three games.

Temple (-3.5) vs. Duke - total: 54

Miami-FL (-2.5) vs. Wisconsin - total: 44

Baylor vs. Vanderbilt (-4.5) - total: 56

First, let’s identify our top two non-QB players based on points projected:

A couple of running backs listed as “Q” on the DK app are Temple’s Ryquell Armstead and Vanderbilt’s Ke’Shawn Vaughn. Both are expected to play and both should be focal points of their offensive game plans against non-threatening rush defenses.  Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor is super-high priced and can/should grace many lineups but we are fading him a bit due to a matchup with a stout run defense in Miami and a backup QB in Jack Coan, who the Hurricanes will do everything they can to make beat them.

UPDATE: Armstead not dressed for warm-ups. Need to get him out.

Normally, we’d do a two-QB lineup, however, looking at these options, we may have to get away from that today.

Let’s stay away from pro prospect Daniel Jones who faces the No. 1 pass defense per S&P+ numbers in Temple. Baylor might play two QB’s with Charlie Brewer and Jalan McClendon. Miami switched (back) to Malik Rosier from N’Kosi Perry after a lewd video surfaced and they get a stout Wisconsin defense. Vanderbilt’s Kyle Shurmur appears to be the best option, so we’ll throw him in the QB spot and leave the S-FLEX open for now.

We’ll need to identify some WR values:

With no Jalen Hurd in there for Baylor, we like us some Chris Platt, who is a bit cheaper than teammate Denzel Mims and have upside. Jared Pinkney is a solid option with volume despite Kalija Lipscomb being the most targeted - and most expensive option in the slate.  We are now down to a $4,600 average for our last WR and both flex spots. With so many bad Duke options, I suggest we go with Miami’s Lawrence Cager at $4,500 and hope he regains his early-season form with the switch back at QB.

I like some Baylor RB Trestan Ebner at just $3,700 for the FLEX spot.  He’ll get involved in the running and passing game and should provide a nice return and sets us up for a bigger spend in the final Super-Flex spot. That leaves us with $5,600 and that’s enough to get us some Wisconsin WR Danny Davis III at $5,400. He broke through last game against Minnesota with ten catches and should continue to be the man for Jack Coan. As the Hurricanes sell out to stop Mr. Taylor behind the line, expect Davis to take full advantage.

So, there you have it:

QB - Kyle Shurmur (vs. BAY) - $8,300

RB - Ryquell Armstead (vs. DUKE) - $8,500   Trestan Ebner (vs. VAND) - $3,700

RB - Ke’Shawn Vaughn (vs. BAY) - $8,000

WR - Lawrence Cager (vs. WISC) - $4,500

WR - Jared Pinkney (vs. BAY) - $5,800

WR - Chris Platt (vs. VAND) - $5,600

FLEX - Trestan Ebner (vs. VAND) - $3,700   moved Ebner up to replace Armstead and get Kalija Lipscomb (vs. BAY) in here.

S-FLEX - Danny Davis III (vs. MIA) - $5,400
