Michael Fulmer was placed on the 10-Day DL with an oblique strain. Fulmer has struggled this season, but pitched a bit better than the surface numbers. He had been mentioned in trade rumors, but with an oblique injury now, he is unlikely to be moved prior to the trade deadline.
Willie Calhoun has been called up by the Texas Rangers. Calhoun was a highly touted prospect for the 2018 season, but was demoted because he struggles defensively. With Nomar Mazara hitting the DL, the Rangers have decided to give him some run. Calhoun has hit .306/.360/.444 with eight home runs and could become a great fantasy option down the line. He should be scooped up in most formats.
As of this writing, Matt Carpenter has gone 5-for-5 with three home runs and seven runs batted in. Carpenter has been scorching hot since struggling earlier this season, hitting 20 home runs in the last two months and sporting a crazy .321/.418/.679 triple slash BEFORE today’s game.
According to multiple reports, the trade market for Jeurys Familia has begun to heat up. The reports state that they have started engaging with approximately eight teams and that the returns are being discussed currently. If Familia is traded, he likely won’t be the closer on his new team, but Robert Gsellman figures to gain more save opportunities for the Mets once a deal is completed.
According to manager Bruce Bochy, the Giants will not skip or “back off” both Dereck Rodriguez and Andrew Suarez . The rookie pitchers have been fantastic this season for the Giants and have help keep San Francisco in the playoff race in spite of missing Johnny Cueto , Madison Bumgarner , and Jeff Samardzija off and on throughout the season. Things could change as the rookies could regress, but it appears the Giants want to make a go of it this season and are not going to put the rookies on any innings limit.

The Nationals have activated both Stephen Strasburg and Ryan Zimmerman from the DL for tonight’s game.
According to TR Sullivan, the Rangers are unlikely to trade Adrián Béltre . Beltre has a full no trade clause which is unlikely to be waived anyhow.
Zach Eflin is expected to be activated from the DL on Monday against the Dodgers.
The Mariners have recalled Dan Vogelbach from the minor leagues.
Logan Morrison is expected to be activated from the 10-Day DL on Sunday, when he is first eligible to do so.
Scott Schebler is expected to return from the DL when first eligible as well. He can return as early as Wednesday.
Rafael Devers is expected to return from the DL this weekend. He is going to test his injured shoulder today before the game and with no setbacks he could be back as soon as tomorrow.
Marco Estrada will start this weekend versus the Orioles. He is expected to be activated from the DL on Sunday to take the mound versus Baltimore.
