There are many weather concerns for tonight’s games. The Ranger/Astros game has some risk, but reports are that at worst we may see an in-game delay rather than a postponement, if anything at all. You may want to fade the starters (Cole Hamels and Gerrit Cole ) in DFS, but it is not 100% necessary.

What’s Happening:

Jalen Beeks will make his Major League debut for the Red Sox on today. This will likely be a spot start, but he has been great in AAA. He has throw 56.1 innings this year with a 2.56 ERA and 12.78 strikeouts per nine innings. The stat line is deceiving though and considering the power right-handed bats in the Tigers lineup, he may actually be a good guy to stack against. He throws a straight fastball that isn’t very good and his secondary pitches are mediocre for the most part.

Brad Miller was designated for assignment by the Rays in order to make room for Jake Bauers . Bauers is one of the Rays top prospects, but he doesn’t have a very interesting fantasy profile. He has a little pop and some speed, but he is by no means a burner. He will likely be a top pick up this week, but he is a bit overhyped at this point.

Miles Mikolas threw seven innings, only allowing one run (unearned) in the win. Mikolas has been great this year, but does not have much upside because he doesn’t strikeout many batters. He has done a great job limiting walks and homers, which definitely helps provide nice ratio support.

José Berrios was fantastic versus the White Sox today. He threw a complete game, allowing two runs, but striking out 10 in the victory over Chicago. Berrios has been inconsistent this season, but appears to back on track for the time being.

Eddie Rosario hit his 14th homer of the season today against the White Sox. He is currently hitting .312/.351/.568 in 59 games. Rosario has been as hot as can be this year, but it is unlikely to sustain at this rate. Now is a good selling point, but you can also just ride it out as he should be able to clear 30 bombs and a .280 AVG for the year.

Tyler Chatwood continues to luck into decent enough lines to be fantasy relevant. Chatwood lowered his ERA to 3.86 today in spite of only going 4.2 innings and allowing 11 base runners including SEVEN walks. His WHIP is currently 1.78. It is a matter of time for the ERA to regress in a huge way.

Joc Pederson hit two home runs versus the Pirates today. Pederson is on fire right now and could eek out some more playing time, especially considering how banged up the team is.

Quick hits:

Dennis Santana will undergo an MRI after being scratched last minute versus the Pirates today. This does not sound good. He is dealing with some lat soreness.

An MRI revealed that Carlos Correa has no structural damage in his ailing side. It sounds like he may be able to avoid a DL stint.

Jesse Winker hit a walk-off home run versus the Rockies. Winker is no longer a starter, but may get another start tomorrow if the Reds want to reward him after a nice day today.

Josh Donaldson sounds unlikely to be activated on Friday once he is first eligible. Vlad Guerrero is also hurt in the minors and hit the DL as well.

Brandon Belt is aiming to return in about a week. He is recovering from an emergency appendectomy.
