Reports are that Ichiro Suzuki will retire after the upcoming homestand with the Mariners. This is not fantasy relevant, but Ichiro has been a big part of the game for a long time and he will be missed.

Things That Make You Go “Hmmmm…”

Mike Soroka made his Major League debut on tuesday. He threw six innings and only gave up one run (a solo homer) while striking out five and issuing zero walks. More importantly, Soroka was able to keep the ball on the ground with a 44% ground ball rate which will be key to his success in the Majors. He worth picking up if he can hold a rotation spot.

Fernando Romero is expected to be recalled tomorrow. He is the Twins top pitching prospect and he has been pretty good in AAA this year. His biggest issue is his control. He is allowing over four walks per nine innings in AAA this year which is up a full walk from last year in AA.

Matt Adams went 3-for-4 with two home runs versus the Pirates on Tuesday. Adams has been very good this season in limited time hitting .296/.397/.630 with five home runs. With Ryan Zimmerman struggling, Adams could be in for a larger role and he has the power to be very useful in the potent Nationals lineup.

Yoenis Céspedes went 3-for-4 with a home run against the Braves Tuesday. Cespedes was supposed to miss a few games with injury, but ended up playing anyhow and he looks like he is healthy enough. He may get an extra day off or two the rest of the week.

Jordan Hicks threw two pitches 102 mph on Tuesday, the fastest pitches this season in MLB.

He is a power pitcher and has a nice secondary pitch as well, but isn’t likely to be more than a statcast hero in his rookie season. He has long term closer upside in dynasty and keeper formats.

Jordan Montgomery left the first inning of Tuesday’s game with an apparent elbow injury. This is not a good sign as he is expected to leave the team to get a further examination in New York. Domingo Germán will likely take his place in the rotation moving forward or until we have more news on Montgomery's condition.

What We’ll Be Watching Today

How many runs will Wade Miley give up? The Brewers are calling up Miley to start Wednesday. Miley is not fantasy relevant, but he should be a nice pitcher to stack against in DFS today.

Can Luis Castillo turn it around? The Reds believe they have identified a mechanical issue with Castillo and have been working with him to readjust his arm slot.

Will Ken Giles enter concussion protocol after this punch?

Will Scott Kingery be placed on the DL? Kingery was hit by a pitch late in the game, but x-rays came back negative. With his struggles so far in the season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him hit the DL anyhow just to give him a breather.

Is Julio Teherán healthy and good again? He has had a nice little stretch here, but was pushed back with a trapezoid issue.

Is Blake Snell a stud? He has been fantastic this year and is looking to move up into the elite tiers of starters.

Ryu vs Godley. Ryu has had moments of looking like a vintage version of himself. Godley has not yet turned into the pitcher many (including me) thought he would. He gets a struggling Dodgers team at home with the humidor on Tuesday.

How good is Dylan Bundy ? He has been great this season, but still struggles getting out lefties. Luckily for him, the Angels don’t have many lefties or switch-hitters.

Baseball. Lots of baseball.
