Nothing like spending a Sunday watching one at bat:

Things That Make You Go “Hmmmm…”

Aside from his foul ball heroics, Brandon Belt also hit his fourth home run in his last four games. Belt made some swing adjustments over the offseason and they appear to be helping quite a bit. Take a look at his swing from last season:

Now look at his swing from this season:

He has made the swing more compact and it has given him a bit more power. This could finally be the step forward that fantasy owners have been waiting for.

Johnny Cueto threw six shutout innings versus the Angels. Cueto haad moments of struggle especially in the third inning when he appeared to have re-injured his ankle issue that he just returned from the DL for. However, he was able to pitch through it effectively on his way to a big win for him and the Giants.

Patrick Corbin was fantastic once again for the Diamondbacks. I have been critical of Corbin due to the lack a of a true third pitch, but he continues to dominate. At some point regression will come for him, but this appears t be the new normal for now at least.

Mitch Haniger hit his third homerun in his last three games against the Rangers. Haniger was on his way to a breakout season last year, but it was derailed by injury, which has been his issue his entire professional career. If he can stay healthy, he could be a monster, but that is a big IF.

According to MLB.com. José Bautista is looking good and could be added to the roster in the next two weeks. Bautista is likely only deep league relevant in which OBP is used, but he could surprise. This is also illuminating into how the new Braves front office is looking at their team and some of their long term assets. Bautista is going to play third base for the Braves, which blocks prospect Austin Riley. Riley has been killing AA and is close to being ready, but the addition of Joey Bats likely signals a change in philosophy from an organization willing to promote their top talent like they did with Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson , to holding down players to gain extra years of control. This could be bad news for fantasy owners that have invested highly in the likes of Ronald Acuna , Mike Soroka, and Luiz Gohara .

What We’ll Be Watching Today

– Walker Buehler getting a spot start today. With Rich Hill on the DL with a cracked fingernail, Buehler will get a chance to show the reason he is the Dodgers top prospect. Definitely worth a stream or DFS play today.

– Who rebounds first, the Indians offense or Kevin Gausman ? Both have struggled and they get to face each other today.

– Can Chris Stratton continue to thrive? Stratton was a preseason sleeper of mine and he look great in his last start. Can he do it against Washington?

– Skaggs vs Cole. Skaggs has gone from waiver wire player to fantasy viable while Cole has gone from SP2 to elite starter. Are either of these legit or have we just been watching hot streaks?

– Baseball. Lots of baseball.
