2020 NBA Transaction Tracker
Justin Fensterman gives a complete look at who the 2020 NBA free agents and trade pieces are and what they're acquisitions mean for Fantasy Basketball.

Pos | Player | Old Team | New Team | Stats | Related Players | BreakDown |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SF | Shaquille Harrison | Chicago Bulls | Unsigned | 4.9ppg 2.0rpg 0.8spg | Harrison got a few starts in Chicago last year but that was due to 75% of the team being hurt. He's an injury replacement 11th man at this point wherever he signs. | |
PF | Anthony Davis | Los Angeles Lakers | Unsigned | 26.1ppg 9.3rpg 1.5spg 2.3bpg | Anthony Davis is fully expected to re-sign with the Lakers. It's a matter of how many years he and the Lakers can agree on. | |
SG | Bogdan Bogdanovic | Sacramento Kings | Atlanta Hawks | 15.1ppg 3.4rpg 3.4apg 1.0spg 2.7 3pm per game | Depending on where Bogdanovic starts (either SG or SF), Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish and De'Andre Hunter will be fighting for the minutes left over. Tony Snell will likely steal a few minutes as well. | Bogdanovic will be the third shooting option behind Trae Young and John Collins. The Hawks are very deep, but they paid a ton of money for Bogdanovic and he'll even spend some time bringing the ball up. |
PG | Kris Dunn | Chicago Bulls | Atlanta Hawks | 7.3ppg 3.6rpg 3.4apg 2.0spg | Dunn will be in a major timeshare with Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, and Cam Reddish. Rajon Rondo will likely back up Trae Young. Dunn's defense should keep him as the last man in the rotation. | Dunn showed the ability to play multiple positions, but unlike the injured Bulls, the Hawks have a lot of guard depth. He belongs on the waiver wire until he separates himself from the other guards. |
PG | Rajon Rondo | Los Angeles Lakers | Atlanta Hawks | 7.1ppg 3.0rpg 5.0apg 0.9 3pm per game | Trae Young will play a lot of minutes, but there's still a chance that Rondo and Young could share the floor at times with Young being the de-facto shooting guard. | Rondo will be coming off the bench and he should get close to hitting the 20-minute mark per game. With the Hawks massive depth, Rondo can be kept on waivers until he carves out a true roll for himself. There's a major SG/SF log-jam in Atlanta and there will be a good amount of games of Young playing at least 35 minutes. |
PF | Danilo Gallinari | Oklahoma City Thunder | Atlanta Hawks | 18.7ppg 5.2rpg 2.9 3pm per game | Reports are out that Gallinari will be coming off the bench this season and he'll be backing up John Collins. Gallinari is familiar playing small forward, but there is a lot of depth there and if he shifts to SF, it will push De'Andre Hunter to the brink of being out of the rotation. | Expect the scoring to go down a bit. Gallinari is going to need an injury to occur up-front in order to get a massive amount of minutes. He'll stretch the floor versus opposing second units and he'll grab a few rebounds. Clint Capela can handle the low block and that will leave Gallinari at the arc a lot. He has some end of draft fantasy intrigue |
SF | Solomon Hill | Miami Heat | Atlanta Hawks | 5.5ppg 2.8rpg 1.8apg 1.1 3pm per game | Hill is going to be behind just about every other guard/forward on the team. Even De'Andre Hunter will be in front of him on the depth chart. He'll battle for minimal minutes against Tony Snell. | Hill will not make a fantasy impact until multiple injuries occur in the Hawks mid-court. He needs forwards to go down with injury, or suspension (sorry John Collins). |
PG | Jeff Teague | Atlanta Hawks | Boston Celtics | 10.9ppg 2.4rpg 5.2apg | There is talk of Kemba Walker not being 100 percent in the health department and that could give Teague more minutes early. The big question will be whether or not it is Teague or Marcus Smart coming off the bench. It should be Teague. | Teague will likely be the Celtics Sixth Man in this rotation pushing Marcus Smart to start at SG for defensive purposes. Teague will likely be a waiver wire pick up if he's able to carve out a consistent amount of shots. He'll benefit if the Celtics handle Kemba Walker with care. He's an end of the draft pick if intrigued since he'll help out on the assist front. |
C | Tristan Thompson | Cleveland Cavaliers | Boston Celtics | 12.0ppg 10.1rpg 2.1apg 0.9bpg | Thompson will be starting with Daniel Theis and Robert Williams playing behind him. If the Celtics need Theis to shift to PF, that will keep Thompson in the game. | Thompson is in a good spot because he was brought in to clear the ball and play right under the rim. He's never needed a ton of time to produce points and boards and he should see at least 28 minutes in the Celtics rotation. The Celtics will take what they can get to clog up the middle. Thompson will score off of put-backs via offensive rebounds. |
SG | Tyler Johnson | Brooklyn Nets | Brooklyn Nets | 7.0ppg 2.0rpg 1.9apg 1.0 3pm per game | Johnson will be playing behind Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyrie Irving, Landry Shamet, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris and maybe even Chris Chiozza. | Johnson will need a massive trade to occur or a massive amount of injuries to occur to even be revolving around the planet of relevancy for fantasy. |
SF | Joe Harris | Brooklyn Nets | Brooklyn Nets | 14.5ppg 4.3rpg 2.1apg 2.5 3pm per game | With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving back in the mix, Harris will fight for minutes in the second unit. He'll be able to back up Durant to an extent, but his potential minutes SG will be a battle with Landry Shamet. | Kevin Durant sat out a year so he can give himself a higher ceiling from a health standpoint and that unfortunately lowers Harris ceiling. Harris will get minutes with the Nets second unit, but there are a lot of minutes to go around especially in the backcourt. His fantasy value is bound to drop, as should his minutes, until injuries occur. |
SG | Bruce Brown | Detroit Pistons | Brooklyn Nets | 8.9ppg 4.7rpg 4.0apg 1.1spg | Caris LeVet and Joe Harris will toggle between SG and SF and Brown will buried a bit with the return of Kevin Durant in front of those guys. He could see some love at PG if Spencer Dinwiddie is moved off the roster backing up Kyrie Irving. The Landry Shamet acquisition buries Brown even further. | Brown will not be an impactful fantasy player until the Nets figure out who is leaving and staying on their roster. Brown was on a depleted Detroit team and moves into a very crowded Nets backcourt. His playing time will be dropping significantly. |
PF | Jeff Green | Houston Rockets | Brooklyn Nets | 9.4ppg 2.8rpg 1.0apg 1.3 3pm per game | Jeff Green is good at being a change of place forward who will run the floor and he will help speed up the pace in the second unit. He'll be likely coming in off the bench behind Taurean Prince. Rodions Kurucs will be used and will be his primary competition for minutes. | Green has made his fantasy basketball career off of being a temporary waiver wire bandaid. The Nets have a lot of depth and he will be in a major timeshare with Rodions Kurucs for back up minutes. He'll need injuries to occur to get a legit offensive role. |
SG | Landry Shamet | Los Angeles Clippers | Brooklyn Nets | 9.3ppg 1.9rpg 1.9apg 2.1 3pm per game | Shamet and Caris LeVert will battle for playing time. LeVert has a leg up on the competition and he will still make the rotation and will benefit a ton when on the floor with the Nets second unit. | While his minutes could be dropping, the Nets starting lineup is unconfirmed. Could he start at SG? He'll get shots and even time to run the floor a bit with the second unit. Will the Nets start Spencer Dinwiddie and Kyrie Irving? He should be able to get 25 minutes per game. |
SF | Gordon Hayward | Boston Celtics | Charlotte Hornets | 17.5ppg 6.7rpg 4.1apg 1.6 3pm per game | Hayward's arrival will either shift Miles Bridges or P.J. Washington on the bench. | While it is safe to think that Hayward could become the top scoring option in Charlotte, Devonte' Graham will likely be the prioritized scorer going in. Hayward has a clear path to succeed in Charlotte. They needed a winger and they paid a fortune for this one. |
C | Bismack Biyombo | Charlotte Hornets | Charlotte Hornets | 7.4ppg 5.8rpg 0.9bpg | Biyombo will be once again backing up Cody Zeller and should be able to play at least 15-20 minutes per game. | Biyombo will only score off of put-backs. The minutes will be there because the Hornets did not improve their big man presence. Keep him on the waiver wire until you see at least 20 minutes and improved rebounding. |
SG | Garrett Temple | Brooklyn Nets | Chicago Bulls | 10.3ppg 3.5rpg 2.5apg 2.0 3pm per game | Temple should see back up minutes behind Zach LaVine. He'll bring up the ball at times. | Temple is a hustler but that doesn't always translate in the fantasy game. He'll pick up back up minutes, but, he has health on his side as the Bulls continue to prove they can't stay healthy. The second a PG, SG or SF goes down, Temple will see a bump in minutes. |
PG | Matthew Dellavedova | Cleveland Cavaliers | Cleveland Cavaliers | 3.1ppg 1.3rpg 3.2apg | Dellavedova will be fighting with Kevin Porter Jr. for back up minutes. Expect Collin Sexton and Darius Garland to get a good chunk of minutes between the two. | Until an injury occurs, Dellavedova won't make a fantasy impact. He is out there just to keep the ball moving thus keeping the offense moving. He'll be off the radar to start the season. |
C | JaVale McGee | Los Angeles Lakers | Cleveland Cavaliers | 6.6ppg 5.7rpg 1.4bpg | McGee will be backing up Andre Drummond and should see 10-12 minutes, however the Cavs can also choose to flex Kevin Love or Larry Nance Jr. to center and that would further push him down the depth chart. | McGee will need an injury to get serious minutes. The blocked shots he's produced over the years always makes him intriguing, but, the Cavs have a lot of PF/C's on their team and he will be battling for minutes. |
SG | Damyean Dotson | New York Knicks | Cleveland Cavaliers | 6.7ppg 1.9rpg 1.2apg 1.2 3pm per game | Dotson will fight for final rotation spot minutes. Kevin Porter Jr will be his main competition for minutes. | Dotson can bring up the ball, but throughout his career, his role has been to just get open from beyond the arc and drain three-pointers. |
SG | Josh Richardson | Philadelphia 76ers | Dallas Mavericks | 13.7ppg 3.2rpg 2.9apg 0.9spg 1.5 3pm per game | Richardson should start and he could be the team's second or third shooting option toggling with Tim Hardaway Jr. | Richardson will get a chance to work the elbow and arc with the ball as soon as opposing teams start doubling Luka Doncic. Richardson will sneak in to grab long rebounds as well and he'll get more shots to start the season with Kristaps Porzingis out. |
PG | Trey Burke | Dallas Mavericks | Dallas Mavericks | 7.4ppg 1.5rpg 2.5apg 1.0 3pm per game | J.J. Barea returning to the squad and the acquisition of Josh Richardson will keep Burke battling for minutes. | Burke is a good change of pace guard who can move around the arc to get open from distance and he can speed up the offense by pushing the ball. With Luka Doncic bringing up the ball a lot, he will likely be held out at the arc and will keep the ball moving. With Kristaps Porzingis out, Burke will get a few minutes each game to control the offense. He's a waiver wire guy to start the season. |
PF | James Johnson | Oklahoma City Thunder | Dallas Mavericks | 8.4ppg 3.7rpg 2.3apg 2.0bpg 1.0 3pm per game | Johnson could start the season in the starting lineup with Kristaps Porzingis still recovering from knee surgery. When Porzingis comes back, he'll be splitting time with Dorian Finney-Smith. | Johnson has good handles and can take the pressure off of Luka Doncic a bit. Johnson shot over 36 percent from beyond the arc. |
SF | Wes Iwundu | Orlando Magic | Dallas Mavericks | 5.8ppg 2.5rpg 1.2apg 0.5spg | Iwundu could steal a few minutes at SG behind Josh Richardson. He'll be in a battle with Dorian Finney-Smith for minutes unless Finney-Smith starts at PF. | Could Iwundu still make the rotation getting 15-17 minutes per game? Yes. Luka Doncic casts a shadow on the entire offense and Iwundu will have to use his perimeter defense to earn more keep in the rotation. |
C | Willie Cauley-Stein | Dallas Mavericks | Dallas Mavericks | 7.2ppg 5.8rpg 0.9spg 1.1bpg | Until Dwight Powell is ready to return to the court, Cauley-Stein should start. maxi Kleber will be his main competition for minutes. | Cauley-Stein has some final round intrigue because he could be starting and will help with specialty stats such as steals and blocks. |
PF | Paul Millsap | Denver Nuggets | Denver Nuggets | 11.6ppg 5.7rpg 0.9spg 1.1 3pm per game | Millsap will likely be playing behind Michael Porter Jr. JaMychal Green was brought in to help Nikola Jokic and he'll stretch the floor too. | Millsap will be battling for minutes against JaMychal Green, but if he can show toughness in the high-post, he'll get more minutes. He'll need to crash the boards a bit more. He'll grab some steals in the lane. He's an end of fantasy bench stash at best. |
PF | JaMychal Green | Los Angeles Clippers | Denver Nuggets | 6.8ppg 6.2rpg 1.5 3pm per game | Green will compete for minutes against Paul Millsap. | Green should be able to see 15 minutes per game as he can sub in at both C and PF. He is a floor-stretcher, who will serve as a bailout shooter from beyond the arc. Keep him on the wire. |
SF | Dzanan Musa | Brooklyn Nets | Detroit Pistons | 4.8ppg 2.2rpg 1.1apg | Musa will be playing behind a lot of players in Detroit including, Sekou Doumbouya and Sviatoslav Mykailiuk. | No impact expected here for Musa. He will be used as filler only and won't provide any fantasy value at the start of the season. |
C | Mason Plumlee | Denver Nuggets | Detroit Pistons | 7.2ppg 5.2rpg 2.5apg | Plumlee will battle for the start against Jahlil Okafor and Isaiah Stewart. Plumlee should be able to see at least 20 minutes in the Pistons rotation. | Plumlee could find himself some end of draft value if he starts and fantasy team considering him is in dire need of depth. He's a bit stiff, but will work his way inside. He's not that quick. |
SF | Jerami Grant | Denver Nuggets | Detroit Pistons | 12.0ppg 3.5rpg 0.8bpg 1.43pm/g | Grant will be playing behind Blake Griffin and is looking like he'll be the Pistons 6th man. | Grant has been productive with bench roles before. He has injuries on his side because Blake Griffin has missed at least 20 games in every season except one since the 2015-2016 season. |
SG | Josh Jackson | Memphis Grizzlies | Detroit Pistons | 9.0ppg 3.0rpg 0.8spg 1.0 3pm per game | Jackson will have an uphill climb to get in the Pistons rotation. He'll battle for minutes against Saddiq Bey and even Rodney McGruder | Jackson should start the season seeing potentially 12 minutes per game as the Pistons figure out who they want to prioritize in the mid-court. Jackson is good at running the floor and if used correctly in the post a bit, he can fill in at different spots on the court. He has good leaping ability. |
C | Jahlil Okafor | New Orleans Pelicans | Detroit Pistons | 8.1ppg 4.2rpg 0.7bpg | Okafor will mainly battle Mason Plumlee and Isaiah Stewart for minutes. | Okafor has a few more moves in the post than Plumlee, but Plumlee has proven to be a bit more aggressive. He'll be in line for minutes and it is possible that he could end up starting. |
SG | Delon Wright | Oklahoma City Thunder | Detroit Pistons | 6.9ppg 3.8rpg 3.3apg 1.2spg | Wright will share the backcourt with Derek Rose, Zhaire Smith, Rodney McGruder and Wayne Ellington | This will be interesting because the Pistons should look to start the rookie Killian Hayes and then Derek Rose as the off-guard. Wright is a good ball-handler and he can back up either guard spot. Could he end up starting? Potentially! His role is still a bit undefined, but his defense and playmaking will keep him in games. |
SG | Rodney McGruder | Los Angeles Clippers | Detroit Pistons | 3.3ppg 2.7rpg 0.5spg | McGruder could see playing time at SG or SF. He'll battle Zhaire Smith and Wayne Ellington for minutes. | It's uncertain who the Pistons plan on starting but McGruder can back up the SG or SF spot if he doesn't start. He won't pick up too many shots in the offense. |
SG | Zhaire Smith | Philadelphia 76ers | Detroit Pistons | 1.1ppg 0.3rpg 0.4spg | Smith will be in a major timeshare with Wayne Ellington and Rodney McGruder. | Smith is intriguing because we haven't had a chance to see him blossom. The Sixers and his own health to start his career never gave him a chance. He'll be a waiver wire player to start the season, but if given 15 minutes per game filling in at both guard spots, we'll get to see more of what he's about. |
SG | Wayne Ellington | New York Knicks | Detroit Pistons | 5.1ppg 1.8rpg 1.4 3pm per game | Ellington will compete with Delon Wright, Rodney McGruder and Zhaire Smith for minutes. | Ellington is one of the more reliable three-point shooters. He'll camp out at the arc and he can help out on the perimeter defensively. His minutes are currently undetermined. |
PG | Brad Wanamaker | Boston Celtics | Golden State Warriors | 6.9ppg 2.0rpg 2.5apg 0.9spg | Wanamaker is looking like he'll back up Stephen Curry at PG. | Wanamaker has speed and his hustle will keep him backing up Stephen Curry. It'll be interesting to see if Damion Lee or even Jordan Poole brings the ball up a bit. Minimal fantasy value to start. |
SF | Kelly Oubre | Oklahoma City Thunder | Golden State Warriors | 18.7ppg 6.4rpg 1.3spg 1.93pm/game | Oubre is going to start for the Warriors. I don't think he's too similar to Andrew Wiggins. | After being sent to OKC, he was flipped to the Warriors to fill the hole left by Klay Thompson. Oubre will be the Warriors third shooting option behind Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins. He's a strong mid-range defender who will help grab boards and steals. |
SG | Kent Bazemore | Sacramento Kings | Golden State Warriors | 8.8ppg 4.3rpg 1.1spg 1.2 3pm per game | Bazemore will be in a timeshare with Damion Lee, Eric Paschall and Jordan Poole for playing time. | He'll be battling to try to steal 20 minutes per game. Bazemore will have to help grab long boards and he's good at fighting through screens and should help grab steals. He's a player to watch on waivers to start the season. It's hard to fill the void Klay Thompson leaves behind. |
C | DeMarcus Cousins | Los Angeles Lakers | Houston Rockets | Out For 2019-2020 N/A | The big question is, will Christian Wood start at PF? Is it possible? Cousins will start if that's the case. | We didn't see Cousins last season after he injured his Knee prior to the start of the season but we know he's perfectly capable of starting. If Christian Wood starts at center, he'll likely back him up. He makes scoring and rebounding look easy. |
SF | Sterling Brown | Milwaukee Bucks | Houston Rockets | 5.1ppg 3.5rpg 1.0apg | Brown will battle for minutes against Eric Gordon and Ben McLemore | Brown could try to steal SF minutes behind Danuel House but if P.J. Tucker shifts down to SF and James Harden and Russell Westbrook aren't traded, Brown will be riding the bench big time. |
PF | Christian Wood | Detroit Pistons | Houston Rockets | 13.1ppg 6.3rpg 0.9bpg 0.9 3pm per game | Wood will start, it's just a matter of whether or not he'll shift to PF now that the Rockets have DeMarcus Cousins. | Wood will not only help with inside scoring and rebounding, but he'll help draw out bigger defenders, as he was a very reliable three-point shooter. Will he start at C or PF? That's the next question. Tremendous value going into the season. |
PF | Kenny Wooten | New York Knicks | Houston Rockets | Played in G-League last year | It's not a lock that Wooten makes the team. He'll battle Bruno Caboclo for playing time. | Wooten will have a reserve role. He showed his ups in the G-League and if he makes the squad, he'll be used as just a big body to defend against post scoring. |
SF | Bruno Caboclo | Houston Rockets | Houston Rockets | 3.0ppg 2.0rpg 0.5spg 0.6bpg | Caboclo will be an end of bench player who will be fighting against Sterling Brown for SF minutes. | Caboclo is a combo-forward, but we really haven't seen growth from him and he's been used sparingly throughout his career. No fantasy value to start. |
SF | Kelan Martin | Minnesota Timberwolves | Indiana Pacers | 6.4ppg 3.1rpg | Martin will be battling JaKarr Sampson and Justin Holiday for minutes. | Martin won't be showcased early at all and he'll have minimal minutes and will likely ride the bench until multiple injuries occur. |
SF | JaKarr Sampson | Indiana Pacers | Indiana Pacers | 4.6ppg 2.6rpg 0.5spg | Sampson and Kelan Martin will battle for end of the bench minutes. | Sampson won't be a fantasy target as he is just there to give the Pacers depth in case they once again get bitten by the injury bug. |
SG | Justin Holiday | Indiana Pacers | Indiana Pacers | 8.3ppg 3.3rpg 1.2spg 1.8 3pm per game | Holiday will see back up minutes behind T.J. Warren. He'll battle Jeremy Lamb (if healthy) for minutes as well. | Holiday was re-signed because of his hustle. He won't be a fantasy target to start, but if Victor Oladipo or T.J. Warren go down, he will start seeing more love in the Pacers rotation. |
PG | Jalen Lecque | Oklahoma City Thunder | Indiana Pacers | 2.0ppg 0.4rpg 0.4apg | Lecque will play behind Aaron Holiday and T.J. McConnell. | It will be hard for Lecque to earn playing time as Aaron Holiday is a known change of pace option. Expect him to be at the end of the Pacers bench to start the season. |
SG | Luke Kennard | Detroit Pistons | Los Angeles Clippers | 15.8ppg 3.5rpg 4.1apg 2.6 3pm per game | Kennard will try to steal minutes from Lou Williams. Terance Mann will be behind him. | Health has not been on the side of Kennard, but he's an excellent sharp-shooter that will continue to move, especially off of screens until he gets open. He's a good percentage-booster to target towards the end of drafts. He could end up starting for the Clippers. |
PF | Patrick Patterson | Los Angeles Clippers | Los Angeles Clippers | 4.9ppg 2.6rpg 1.1 3pm per game | Patterson will be battling for scrap minutes against Daniel Oturu. Serge Ibaka will see PF minutes. | Patterson is reserve player who helps stretch the floor a bit because he can hit three-pointers, but he will remain off of fantasy radars. |
PF | Marcus Morris | Los Angeles Clippers | Los Angeles Clippers | 16.7ppg 5.0rpg 1.4apg 2.3 3pm per game | Morris could find himself starting if the Clippers start a bigger lineup. Serge Ibaka will be playing behind him. | Morris is one of the most reliable long-range shooting big men and if Paul George starts at SG and Kawhi Leonard at SF, Morris could end up starting. If he comes off the bench, he will see plenty of minutes as the team's seventh man. |
C | Serge Ibaka | Toronto Raptors | Los Angeles Clippers | 15.4ppg 8.2rpg 0.8bpg 1.3 3pm per game | Ibaka will be backing up Ivica Zubac, Kawhi Leonard and Marcus Morris. | Ibaka should get most of his minutes at center backing up Zubac. One front court injury will put him in the Clipper starting lineup. He should easily be able to see at least 23 minutes per game. |
C | Montrezl Harrell | Los Angeles Clippers | Los Angeles Lakers | 18.6ppg 7.1rpg 1.1bpg | The Lakers are still figuring out their front court in free agency. JaVale McGee will steal a few minutes at center and Kyle Kuzma will be competing for minutes at power forward. | The reigning 6th Man Of The Year in the NBA is switching teams in Los Angeles. Assuming Anthony Davis will be back, Harrell will have a very similar role. The Lakers should start JaVale McGee, let him be stupid on the court and then bring Harrell in off the bench to destroy opposing second units. Anthony Davis alone provides a better front court for Harrell to be part of. The Clippers front court was a bit weaker. He should easily be able to play 26-30 minutes per game. |
SG | Kentavious Caldwell-Pope | Los Angeles Lakers | Los Angeles Lakers | 9.3ppg 2.1rpg 0.8spg 1.3 3pm per game | Wesley Matthews will be his main competition for playing time when the Lakers want to get Dennis Schroder and even Alex Caruso more involved. | Caldwell-Pope should be in the Lakers starting lineup, but he is more in for his defense rather than his offense. He'll be used as strictly a bailout shooter from downtown. Matthews will work the elbow a bit more effectively. He'll get the minutes, but the fantasy production wasn't there last year. |
SG | Wesley Matthews | Milwaukee Bucks | Los Angeles Lakers | 7.4ppg 2.5rpg 1.4apg 1.6 3pm per game. | Matthews will likely be in a timeshare with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Dennis Schroder could also join the party if he ever needs to shift to SG | Matthews is a strong perimeter defender and just like in Milwaukee, he'll be used as a bailout shooting option on the Lakers. He shot over 36 percent from long-range last year. |
PG | Dennis Schroder | Oklahoma City Thunder | Los Angeles Lakers | 18.9ppg 3.6rpg 4.0apg 1.9 3pm per game | Schroder will be the Lakers sixth man and Alex Caruso will be competing with him for minutes behind LeBron James. | Schroder was excellent off the bench in OKC last season and he'll lead the Lakers second unit in scoring and he can give LeBron James a bit of a break. His scoring is bound to go down from last year, but he should be able to log at least 27-30 minutes per game unless Alex Caruso gets more involved. |
SG | John Konchar | Memphis Grizzlies | Memphis Grizzlies | 2.8ppg 2.5rpg 1.2apg | Grayson Allen and Desmond Bane will be in front of Konchar for minutes. | Don't expect Konchar to get any love in Memphis offense early. No fantasy impact. |
PG | De'Anthony Melton | Memphis Grizzlies | Memphis Grizzlies | 7.6ppg 3.7rpg 2.9apg 1.3spg | Melton will be behind both Ja Morant and Tyus Jones and he'll battle Grayson Allen and Desmond Bane for back up SG minutes. | It'll be hard for Melton to get consistent minutes until an injury occurs. He's a combo-guard on a team with a lot of options and Ja Morant will get a lot of PG minutes. |
PF | Mario Hezonja | Portland Trail Blazers | Memphis Grizzlies | 4.8ppg 3.5rpg 0.9apg 0.7spg | Hezonja might start with Jaren Jackson Jr. out and Justise Winslow still banged up. Kyle Anderson and Brandon Clarke will be his main competition for minutes. Kyle Anderson is also still in the mix. | Hezonja randomly has good scoring nights. Everything needs to be working out and when he struggles, you see his control with the ball also struggle. Even though he may get a good amount of minutes early. Keep him on the wire. |
SG | Avery Bradley | Los Angeles Lakers | Miami Heat | 8.6ppg 2.3rpg 0.9spg 1.3 3pm per game | Bradley will be behind Tyler Herro and even Andre Iguodala in the Heat's rotation. | Adding Bradley gives the Heat another veteran winger for defensive purposes. Bradley has a better shot from beyond the arc than Andre Iguodala. It's not a lock that Bradley gets a true rotation commitment of 20 minutes per game. Put him down for 12-15 minutes per game for now. |
C | Meyers Leonard | Miami Heat | Miami Heat | 6.1ppg 5.1rpg 1.0 3pm per game | Leonard could find himself in the starting to compliment Bam Adebayo. Kelly Olynyk and Precious Achiuwa will compete with him for minutes. | Leonard is a better player in reality than fantasy. He'll be used as a bailout shooter when he gets open at the arc. He'll grab a few boards and take a lot of contact. He doesn't have fantasy appeal entering the season. |
PG | Goran Dragic | Miami Heat | Miami Heat | 16.2ppg 3.2rpg 5.1apg 2.1 3pm per game | Dragic will return and be the Heat's starting PG with Kendrick Nunn backing him up. | Dragic turned a lot of heads last season and was a major reason for the Heat's big playoff push until he got injured. Whether it was his shooting or ability to hit constant cutters, Dragic should be able to play 28-30 minutes per game in the Heat's offense. He even helped grab a few boards last season. |
SF | Maurice Harkless | New York Knicks | Miami Heat | 5.8ppg 3.9rpg 1.1apg 0.9spg | Harkless is a combo forward who will play behind Andre Iguodala and Meyers Leonard. | Harkless belongs on waivers as (like Avery Bradley) he's there to shutdown the perimeter on defense. He can also hit the open three. |
SG | Bryn Forbes | San Antonio Spurs | Milwaukee Bucks | 11.2ppg 2.0rpg 1.7apg 2.3 3pm per game | Forbes will battle for minutes against Donte DiVincenzo, Torrey Craig, D.J. Augustin and Pat Connaughton. | Forbes enters a similar issue to what he faced in San Antonio because the Bucks have a lot of guards. Forbes should see 18-20 minutes per game, mainly at SG, but he could push Augustin a bit for PG minutes. He'll be on the waiver wire to start the season. |
SF | Torrey Craig | Denver Nuggets | Milwaukee Bucks | 5.4ppg 3.3rpg | Craig will compete for minutes against Bryn Forbes, Pat Connaughton and D.J. Augustin. | Craig could back up Khris Middleton, but Middleton will be play at least 30 minutes per game. It will be hard for him to get SG minutes. Expect to see Craig in there for 15 minutes per game to start. |
SG | Pat Connaughton | Milwaukee Bucks | Milwaukee Bucks | 5.4ppg 4.2rpg 1.6apg | Bryn Forbes, Torrey Craig and D.J Augustin will compete with Connaughton for minutes. | Connaughton's long-range shooting ability and familiarity with the Bucks offense will keep him in the rotation, but his minutes will certainly be in the teens as he fights for back up scrap minutes. |
SG | Jrue Holiday | New Orleans Pelicans | Milwaukee Bucks | 19.1ppg 4.8rpg 6.7apg 1.6spg 2.03pm/Game | Holiday will toggle between PG and SG and he'll share time with D.J. Augustin and Donte DiVincenzo | Holiday will be the third option on the Bucks. The scoring will likely dip, but his assists will stay strong. If Khris Middleton stays exclusively at the arc, Holiday can utilize his driving ability to get that point total up. |
C | Bobby Portis | New York Knicks | Milwaukee Bucks | 10.1ppg 5.1rpg 1.5apg 1.0 3pm per game | Portis will back up Brook Lopez and could battle D.J. Wilson for back up PF minutes. | Portis will have his games in which he gets a lot of long-range shots. The problem is, Brook Lopez is in the incumbent long-range shooter and he provides a match up nightmare at the arc. It will be hard for him to get PF minutes because of Giannis Antetokounmpo, but he could still see 17 minutes per game. He can shoot from the outside. Keep him on waivers, but watch him. |
PG | D.J. Augustin | Orlando Magic | Milwaukee Bucks | 10.5ppg 2.1rpg 4.6apg 1.2 3pm per game | Augustin will back up Jrue Holiday and he'll be prioritized over Jaylen Adams. Don't forget, the Bucks could also let Donte DiVincenzo run the point too. | Augustin will compliment a driving PG nicely because he'll find himself open a lot to hit spot-up jumpers. He made his career off of getting open from downtown. His minutes could sneak into the 20's as Jrue Holiday can shift to other positions. |
PG | Jaylen Adams | Portland Trail Blazers | Milwaukee Bucks | 3.2ppg 1.8rpg 1.9apg | Adams will be behind D.J. Augustin and Donte DiVincenzo and he'll have a hard time finding minutes in the Bucks rotation. | Adams will be at the end of the bench and it will take a lot of injuries to get him involved consistently. |
PF | Juancho Hernangomez | Minnesota Timberwolves | Minnesota Timberwolves | 6.0ppg 4.1rpg 0.9 3pm per game | Hernangomez should find himself in the starting lineup. Jake Layman could back him up. | Hernangomez has the ability to create his own shots and play off the pick and pop when he's off the ball to hit long-range jumpers. Karl Anthony-Towns will take a lot of shots and the back court will handle a lot of scoring. He won't see a lot of shots, but should still see 20-plus minutes per game. |
SG | Malik Beasley | Minnesota Timberwolves | Minnesota Timberwolves | 11.2ppg 2.7rpg 1.9 3pm per game | Beasley will see back up minutes at SG and SF competing with Anthony Edwards, Jarrett Culver and Josh Okogie. | The Timberwolves have players that can flex to a lot of different positions. The biggest issue for Beasley to get breathing room in the rotation is that D'Angelo Russell can shift to PG at any time. He should still hover in the 18-20 minute per game area, but he won't be getting as many shots as he did with a lot of the team hurt last year. |
PG | Ricky Rubio | Oklahoma City Thunder | Minnesota Timberwolves | 13.0ppg 4.7rpg 8.8apg 1.4spg | Rubio will share a backcourt once again with D'Angelo Russell. Rubio will handle a lot of driving and dishing and Russell will hang at the arc. Rubio's assists shouldn't suffer. | Rubio is coming off of one of his most successful season's. He had one of his best season's shooting and distributing the basketball. Rubio improved his long-range game, but he is a much better driver and the Timberwolves will likely start him alongside D'Angelo Russell shifting Russell to SG. He complimented the shot-happy Devin Booker in Phoenix last season. He will be fighting to be the third scoring option until we know what they'll do with Anthony Edwards. |
C | Ed Davis | New York Knicks | Minnesota Timberwolves | 1.8ppg 3.8rpg 0.4spg | Davis will see a few minutes behind Karl-Anthony Towns and could shift to PF as well for cheap minutes. Naz Reid will be his main competition for minutes. He's a bit more versatile than Davis. | Davis is a low-block banger and he doesn't do much else. When given over 20 minutes, he'll grab a few more boards and points off put backs, but he has zero fantasy appeal going into the year. |
SG | Sindarius Thornwell | New Orleans Pelicans | New Orleans Pelicans | 8.0ppg 2.0rpg 2.0apg 1.0 3pm per game | Thornwell will be playing behind Josh Hart, J.J. Redick, Kira Lewis Jr. and maybe even Nickeil Alexander-Walker | The Pelicans have too many PG's, SG's and SF's and Thornwell will be riding the bench and it will take a lot of injuries for him to get involved. |
C | Willy Hernangomez | Charlotte Hornets | New Orleans Pelicans | 5.9ppg 4.2rpg | Hernangomez will fight Jaxson Hayes and Nicolo Melli for back up minutes. | Hernangomez provides zero threat defensively, but, he can hit long-range shots. Jaxson Hayes is more of an attacker, while Hernangomez is better off of the pick and pop. He'll be the third option at center. |
PG | Eric Bledsoe | Milwaukee Bucks | New Orleans Pelicans | 14.9ppg 4.6rpg 5.4apg 0.9spg | Lonzo Ball's playing time is threatened by Bledsoe unless the Pelicans tries to somehow start both of them. J.J. Redick, Kir Lewis Jr., and Josh Hart will compete for minutes against Bledsoe. | Eric Bledsoe walks into a major timeshare in New Orleans. He will be battling for minutes against Lonzo Ball, Kira Lewis Jr. and J.J. Redick. Bledsoe can play both guard spots and he is a good defender when he's healthy. Lonzo Ball is the better driver and Bledsoe is the better shooter. |
C | Steven Adams | Oklahoma City Thunder | New Orleans Pelicans | 10.9ppg 9.3rpg 2.3apg 1.1bpg | Steven Adams will start and he'll compliment Zion Williamson nicely because Williamson will start out at the arc and they won't clash because Adams is a low-block exclusive center. | Adams role will be very similar to his role on the Thunder. He'll play at least 25 minutes per game and the stat-line should be similar. He's rough and rugged and we don't have to worry about his play at the arc. |
PF | Omari Spellman | Minnesota Timberwolves | New York Knicks | 7.6ppg 4.5rpg 0.7spg 0.9 3pm per game | Spellman will need to earn his minutes as he'll be up against Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for minor minutes. Nerlens Noel will be the Knicks back up center. | Spellman will have a hard time earning minutes unless he's somehow stretched to the SF spot. He won't be on fantasy radars early. |
SG | Jacob Evans | Minnesota Timberwolves | New York Knicks | 4.4ppg 1.4rpg | Evans has had trouble staying healthy and the Knicks have a lot of guards and it will be an uphill battle to take minutes away from Austin Rivers, Alec Burks and Dennis Smith Jr. | It will take Evans a bit to earn his keep in the Knicks rotation. There are too many guards picking at playing time to start. |
SG | Austin Rivers | Houston Rockets | New York Knicks | 8.8ppg 2.6rpg 1.7apg 1.4 3pm per game | Rivers will back up Elfrid Payton and he will take on Alec Burks for back up minutes. | Rivers will have a role in the Knicks offense as a back up. He can fill in at both guard spots and if Elfrid Payton isn't hitting shots, we'll see more of Rivers. |
SG | Theo Pinson | New York Knicks | New York Knicks | 3.6ppg 1.6rpg 1.7apg 0.5spg | Pinson won't be involved in the offense at least early. Myles Powell and Immanuel Quickley will be prioritized before him. | Pinson won't be involved in the Knicks rotation to start the season. |
PG | Elfrid Payton | New York Knicks | New York Knicks | 10.0ppg 4.7rpg 7.2apg 1.6spg | Payton should be the Knicks starting Point Guard. Austin Rivers will be on his heels looking to take minutes away. | Payton is a quick guard who will keep the Knicks offense moving especially on transition. He'll help a ton with dimes and steals. He'll be a nice value guard available in the mid-to-latter stages of drafts. |
C | Nerlens Noel | Oklahoma City Thunder | New York Knicks | 7.4ppg 4.9rpg 1.0spg 1.5bpg | Noel will play behind Mitchell Robinson. Julius Randle may shift to C at times. | Noel should be able to log 20 minutes per game because Mitchell Robinson will have his games in which he's in foul trouble. Julius Randle can provide more offense in the post and the Knicks may opt to shift him up. Expect Noel to play 18-20 minutes per game. Keep him on waivers, but watch him. Cheap source of blocks and steals. |
SG | Alec Burks | Philadelphia 76ers | New York Knicks | 15.0ppg 4.3rpg 2.9apg 0.9spg 1.8 3pm per game | Burks could end up starting if RJ Barrett shifts to SF, but even if he doesn't Burks will see plenty of back up minutes. | Burks should be kept on the waiver wire, but if he can stay healthy, he provides a steady diet of offense and defense and he'll grab long rebounds. As of now, he'll be one of the most prioritized Knicks off the bench. |
SF | Michael Kidd-Gilchrist | Dallas Mavericks | New York Knicks | 2.4ppg 2.7rpg | MKG will be looking to take minutes from Nerlens Noel, Omari Spellman and maybe even Kevin Knox. | Kidd-Gilchrist is an end of bench player who is still a decent mid-range defender. It will take a few injuries to get him more than a limited role even on this Knicks team. |
PG | Frank Jackson | New Orleans Pelicans | Oklahoma City Thunder | 6.3ppg 1.4rpg 0.8 3pm per game | Jackson could steal back up minutes if both George Hill and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander start the game on the floor together. | Jackson is off the fantasy radar unless he can work his way up to 20 minutes per game as a back up. There will be a lot of secondary Thunder guards fighting for scraps. |
PF | Kenrich Williams | New Orleans Pelicans | Oklahoma City Thunder | 3.5ppg 4.8rpg 1.5apg | Williams will play a few minutes behind Trevor Ariza. If Darius Bazley shifts up to PF, he could have more room in the rotation. | Williams will hit open jumpers and he'll grab a few long rebounds, but his role is nothing more than a reserve one at this point. |
PF | T.J. Leaf | Indiana Pacers | Oklahoma City Thunder | 3.0ppg 2.5rpg | Leaf will battle the incumbent Mike Muscala for playing time. He may not get 20 minutes per game and Darius Bazley will likely see some PF minutes too. | Leaf will have a bit more room to try to show what he can do in the league, but his role isn't fully solidified unless he can outplay Mike Muscala and Darius Bazley. He's not fantasy relevant. |
SF | Justin Jackson | Dallas Mavericks | Oklahoma City Thunder | 5.5ppg 2.4rpg | Jackson will battle Kenrich Williams and Darius Miller (if healthy) for scrap minutes | Jackson won't provide a fantasy impact. He's "just a guy" and that's about it. He's off the radar. |
SF | Trevor Ariza | Detroit Pistons | Oklahoma City Thunder | 8.0ppg 4.6rpg 1.3spg 1.53pm/game | Ariza will start at Small Forward and while he won't be the most prioritized option, he'll be fed open three-pointers and he'll have Kenrich Williams, Darius Miller (if healthy) and Darius Bazley chasing after him. | Ariza should play at least 25 minutes in the rotation and he could very well see close to 30. He'll help with three's, boards and steals. He's been one of the best perimeter defenders of the last 15 years. |
PG | George Hill | New Orleans Pelicans | Oklahoma City Thunder | 9.4ppg 3.0rpg 3.1apg | Who are the Thunder starting at PG? Hill seems like a logical choice with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander starting with him at SG. Where does Luguentz Dort fit in to this rotation? | Pelicans traded George Hill to the Thunder in the trade for Steven Adams. Hill is a good spot-up shooter and it is uncertain whether or not he will start. He should still see 20 minutes per game in the Thunder's lineup. He'll help a touch dishing the ball, but he's normally used as a bailout shooter. |
SF | Darius Miller | New Orleans Pelicans | Oklahoma City Thunder | 8.2ppg 1.9rpg 2.1apg 1.9 3pm per game | It's uncertain whether or not Miller will start the season active. If active, he'll battle Kenrich Williams and Darius Bazley for minutes. Justin Jackson will hover for playing time as well. | Miller will be kept on waivers to start the season as he missed all of last season after needing surgery on his Achilles. |
C | Al Horford | Philadelphia 76ers | Oklahoma City Thunder | 11.9ppg 6.8rpg 4.0apg 0.8spg 0.9bpg | Horford won't have much competition for minutes. Mike Muscala will shift to C when he needs a rest. | This would be a lot more ideal if the Thunder kept Steven Adams, but Horford will shift back to center and he'll need to play more in the post and that should he'll his rebounding numbers rise a bit. He'll get a lot of plays in the post. He'll pop out to the arc at times to stretch the floor, but expect him to line up on the low block more this season. |
PG | Ty Jerome | Phoenix Suns | Oklahoma City Thunder | 3.3ppg 1.5rpg 1.4apg 0.5spg | Jerome will compete for minutes against George Hill and Frank Jackson. | The Thunder have a lot of guards and Jerome will be in a constant battle for minutes. He'll be on waivers to start the season. |
SG | Dwayne Bacon | Charlotte Hornets | Orlando Magic | 5.7ppg 2.6rpg 0.6spg | Bacon and James Ennis will likely battle for a starting spot. Terrence Ross could put his name in the hat by training camp as well. | We will have to see what Bacon's role will be as he could end up starting if he beats out James Ennis. Terrence Ross will take bench minutes away from him. He's not fantasy relevant. |
SG | Michael Carter-Williams | Orlando Magic | Orlando Magic | 7.2ppg 3.3rpg 2.4apg 1.1spg | MCW will battle for minutes against the rookie Cole Anthony and even Terrence Ross. | MCW is better on defense than offense. He plays a similar game to Cole Anthony and even Markelle Fultz who he will also be playing behind. He won't be on fantasy radars to start. |
SF | James Ennis | Orlando Magic | Orlando Magic | 6.6ppg 3.6rpg 0.5spg | Ennis will battle Dwayne Bacon and Terrence Ross for minutes. | Ennis can hit long-range shots and shots from the elbow, but on offense he'll be used as simply a bailout option on offense. No fantasy impact. |
PF | Gary Clark | Orlando Magic | Orlando Magic | 3.7ppg 2.6rpg 0.5bpg 0.9 3pm per game | Clark could see back up minutes behind Aaron Gordon and Chuma Okeke. | Clark will grab cheap minutes at PF, but he won't provide much of an impact. The Magic have enough SF's as well and it will be hard for him to grab minutes at that spot. |
SG | Seth Curry | Dallas Mavericks | Philadelphia 76ers | 12.4ppg 2.3rpg 1.9apg 2.3 3pm per game | Seth Curry could start and he'll likely be fighting Shake Milton, Danny Green and Furkan Korkmaz for extra playing time. | Curry is mainly a shooter, but because Ben Simmons can't shoot and Josh Richardson is off the team, he has some final round intrigue in drafts. He will probably be a player to watch at the start of the season until he can prove that he can do more than just score. |
C | Dwight Howard | Los Angeles Lakers | Philadelphia 76ers | 7.5ppg 7.3rpg 1.1bpg | Howard will back up Joel Embiid. | Embiid is going to play a lot of minutes and that could end up limiting Howard to about 17-18 minutes per game. He doesn't need a lot of time to produce boards, but until Embiid gets hurt, he's a player to watch on waivers as a volume play. |
SG | Danny Green | Los Angeles Lakers | Philadelphia 76ers | 8.0ppg 3.3rpg 1.3spg 1.8 3pm per game | Green could shift up to SF and he'll be used as a bailout option. Main competition for minutes will be Furkan Korkmaz and Matisse Thybulle. | Green will be someone you can look at as a bandaid in fantasy. He's a cheap source for points and steals and playing time will be key, but Green should get at least 25 minutes per game and he will earn more minutes for his defense. |
PF | Dario Saric | Phoenix Suns | Phoenix Suns | 10.7ppg 6.2rpg 1.3 3pm per game | Saric will battle Jae Crowder, Jalen Smith and Cam Johnson for a starting spot. | Saric's ceiling is lower now than last season. It was a bit surprising Phoenix brought him back when they are shifting focus to their youth of Cam Johnson and Jalen Smith. Saric will have to earn a true rotation commitment from Phoenix. He'll help a bit with points and boards. Playing time is the biggest question mark. He could steal a few center minutes. |
SG | Langston Galloway | Detroit Pistons | Phoenix Suns | 10.3ppg 2.3rpg 2.0 3pm per game | Galloway will battle Abdel Nader and Jevon Carter for minutes. | The Suns of this season have a lot more depth than the decimated Pistons of last season. Galloway will be on waivers to start the year. His role is limited even though he can bring up the ball. He'll come in for a few minutes, take a few shots and then return to the bench. |
SG | E'Twaun Moore | New Orleans Pelicans | Phoenix Suns | 8.3ppg 2.3rpg 1.1 3pm per game | Moore will battle Abdel Nader and Jae Crowder for back up minutes. | Moore will play around 10-12 minutes per game, but the Suns have a ton of players who can sub in at SG and SF. He'll have a reserve role until injuries occur. He'll be used as a bailout option on offense. |
C | Damian Jones | Atlanta Hawks | Phoenix Suns | 5.6ppg 3.7rpg 0.7bpg | Jones will back up Deandre Ayton. | Jones could end up seeing 10-12 minutes per game backing up Deandre Ayton. The Suns retained Dario Saric and he could steal a few center minutes as well. No fantasy impact. |
SF | Jae Crowder | Miami Heat | Phoenix Suns | 10.5ppg 5.9rpg 2.5apg 1.1spg 2.1 3pm per game | Crowder could start at PF for the Suns as he spent a lot of time their last season in Miami. Cameron Johnson, Dario Saric and Jalen Smith are other options. | Crowder could end up starting, but he will not be seeing too many shots as he'll be used as a bailout shooter. He'll help grab boards a bit and he can bring the ball up. He's a waiver wire darling who can help with boards and steals. He's a better reality player than fantasy. |
PG | Chris Paul | Oklahoma City Thunder | Phoenix Suns | 17.6ppg 5.0rpg 6.7apg 1.6spg | Deandre Ayton and Paul will toggle as the Suns second scoring option behind Devin Booker. | This is an excellent landing spot for Paul Expect Devin Booker to get double-teamed a good amount of the game and that will give Paul better shots. Expect similar numbers to what he did last year on the Thunder. He will has his big scoring games, but if Booker is hot from the field, the ball will be taken out of Paul's hands. |
SF | Abdel Nader | Oklahoma City Thunder | Phoenix Suns | 6.3ppg 1.8rpg 0.9 3pm/game | Mikal Bridges will likely be the starting Small Forward, Nader will be a nice change-of-pace player off the bench. The Suns have a lot of work to do signing more players for depth. | Nader for the first time in his career should be able to play at least 20 minutes per game for a full season as Mikal Bridges is currently his only competition. He will likely be a player you add off of waivers early in the season. |
PG | Jevon Carter | Phoenix Suns | Phoenix Suns | 4.9ppg 2.0rpg 1.4apg 1.1 3pm per game | Carter will back up Chris Paul and will battle Langston Galloway for back up minutes. | Carter may not see 20 minutes per game because Devin Booker can always shift to PG. He'll relieve Chris Paul when he needs rest. |
PF | Harry Giles | Sacramento Kings | Portland Trail Blazers | 6.9ppg 4.1rpg 0.5spg | Giles will battle for back up minutes against Enes Kanter and Nassir Little. He won't be able to get many minutes at all when Zach Collins returns. | Giles will have a tough time grabbing minutes. He can sub in at both PF and C, but he'll likely be behind Enes Kanter at C and it will be hard for him to secure consistent PF minutes. |
C | Enes Kanter | Boston Celtics | Portland Trail Blazers | 8.1ppg 7.4rpg 0.7bpg | Kanter is back in Portland and he'll play behind Jusuf Nurkic. | Kanter will provide instant offense as he'll back up Nurkic. Nurkic will play 30-plus minutes and that should leave about 15-18 minutes per game for Kanter. He'll grab a few cheap rebounds as well. |
PF | Robert Covington | Houston Rockets | Portland Trail Blazers | 12.4ppg 6.6rpg 2.33pm/game 1.6spg 1.3bpg | Zach Collins (if healthy) will be Covington's main competition for minutes if they decide not to start both Collins and Covington. They have no reason to not start Covington at this point. If Collins is out to start the season, Covington will start at PF. | Covington will be in a similar situation in Portland as he was with Houston, especially with the status of Zach Collins up in the air. Covington will be the fourth scoring option on this team and will likely camp out at the arc a good amount. He'll sub-in at C at times and he can absolutely keep his rebounding average in the five to seven range. He shouldn't have too much competition for the minutes and he can flex to SF as well. He should play 30 minutes per game regularly. |
SF | Derrick Jones | Miami Heat | Portland Trail Blazers | 8.5ppg 3.9rpg 1.0spg | Jones won't have as much room to play in Portland as he did in Miami. He'll be in a major timeshare with Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood. | Jones potential is limited because of the amount Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum are utilized. He should shoot to play 15 minutes per game, but even that projectin is not a lot. He can help out on the defensive end, but so can Rodney Hood. He's a bit stuck. |
SF | Rodney Hood | Portland Trail Blazers | Portland Trail Blazers | 11.0ppg 3.4rpg 0.8spg 1.7 3pm per game | Derrick Jones Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. will compete for back up minutes between SG and SF. | Hood should see 20 minutes per game and could even draw the start because he plays good perimeter defense, but he will have to take it from Carmelo Anthony. Hood will help with outside scoring, long-boards and steals, but he belongs on waivers to start the season. |
PF | Carmelo Anthony | Portland Trail Blazers | Portland Trail Blazers | 15.4ppg 6.3rpg 0.8spg 1.5 3pm per game | Anthony should start the season at SF, but Rodney Hood's defense could pose a threat to his starting spot. | Anthony proved to be useful on a heavily injured Blazers team. He got cheap boards and was able to be a double-digit scorer. He poses end of draft intrigue because of the multi-category production. He is the fourth or even fifth option. Scoring could drop. |
C | Hassan Whiteside | Portland Trail Blazers | Sacramento Kings | 15.5ppg 13.5rpg 2.9bpg | Whiteside should start at center and should see 25-30 minutes per game with Richaun Holmes backing him up. | Whiteside makes scoring and rebounding look effortless. The problem is, his lack of effort has hindered him at times. He's in a good spot and he should have a safe floor, even if Marvin Bagley III stays healthy. He's good for boards, inside scoring and blocks. Look to draft him in the middle of drafts. |
SG | DaQuan Jeffries | Sacramento Kings | Sacramento Kings | 3.8ppg 1.4rpg | Jeffries will be behind Harrison Barnes and Jabari Parker. | It will be hard for Jeffries to earn consistent minutes and he will be off the fantasy radar to start the season. |
C | Frank Kaminsky | Phoenix Suns | Sacramento Kings | 9.7ppg 4.5rpg 1.1 3pm per game | Kaminsky will be third on the depth chart at center behind Hassan Whiteside and Richaun Holmes. | Kaminsky won't get a lot of minutes unless an injury occurs as he's stuck as the third option at center in Sacramento. Marvin Bagley III could also shift over. |
C | Jakob Poeltl | San Antonio Spurs | San Antonio Spurs | 5.6ppg 5.7rpg 1.4bpg | Jakob Poeltl will still likely draw the start at center with Drew Eubanks backing him up. | Poeltl will start the season on the waiver wire and we'll see if his game or role in the Spurs offense develops. If he can boost his scoring and continue blocking shots, he'll have waiver appeal. |
PF | Drew Eubanks | San Antonio Spurs | San Antonio Spurs | 4.9ppg 3.9rpg 0.8bpg | Eubanks will back up Jakob Poeltl and he'll steal a few minutes at center. | Eubanks won't have any fantasy relevance to start the season and he'll have to earn a bigger role. |
SG | DeAndre' Bembry | Atlanta Hawks | Toronto Raptors | 5.8ppg 3.5rpg 1.3spg | Bembry will battle for back up minutes against Stanley Johnson. | Bembry had trouble staying healthy and standing out while on the Hawks and he is good at reading through screens but he doesn't have fantasy appeal to start the season. OG Anunoby will be getting more minutes. |
C | Aron Baynes | Phoenix Suns | Toronto Raptors | 11.5ppg 5.6rpg 1.4 3pm per game | Baynes is looking like he's heading towards that starting lineup and Chris Boucher will be on his heels for minutes. Alex Len will try to steal minutes. | Baynes has become a floor-stretcher and that will take him out of a decent amount of rebounding opportunities. Baynes will get the minutes and shots from the arc, but we'll need to see his rebounding improve. With Pascal Siakam more of an attacker, Baynes will bail him out at the arc. |
C | Alex Len | Phoenix Suns | Toronto Raptors | 8.0ppg 5.8rpg 0.9bpg | Len is a third option at this point behind Aron Baynes and Chris Boucher. | Len won't make a fantasy impact to start the season and unlikely at all until multiple front court injuries occur. |
PF | Chris Boucher | Toronto Raptors | Toronto Raptors | 6.6ppg 4.5rpg 1.0bpg | Boucher will be in consideration for a starting spot and if not, he'll be the first big man off the bench and he'll play at least 23 minutes per game. | The Raptors love Boucher as he helped them out big time when one big man after another wen down in Toronto. Boucher should be watched as he can block shots. He's likely a waiver wire player to start the year, but he could be considered for an early add. |
PG | Fred VanVleet | Toronto Raptors | Toronto Raptors | 17.6ppg 3.8rpg 6.6apg 1.9spg | VanVleet will start with Norman Powell playing behind him. | VanVleet returns to the Raptors and he will continue to be the team's third option. He'll also get time to run the point when Kyle Lowry needs a break. He should be considered in the first half of drafts as SG depth is hard to come by. |
C | Derrick Favors | New Orleans Pelicans | Utah Jazz | 9.0ppg 9.8rpg 0.9bpg | if the Jazz shift Bojan Bogdanovic down to SF, that could open up a starting spot at PF for Favors. For now, let's assume Favors is backing up Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert. | Favors can sub in at both PF and C. He can hit mid-range jumpers and help clean the glass for boards. He'll block shots inside as well. He should be able to hover around the 20-minute mark if he comes off the bench. He has final round consideration. If he starts, grab him for bench depth in fantasy. With Rudy Gobert being an inside specific center, Favors can draw out bigger defenders to the elbow. |
SG | Jordan Clarkson | Utah Jazz | Utah Jazz | 15.2ppg 2.6rpg 0.6spg 2.1 3pm per game | Clarkson will continue to back up Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell. | Clarkson will get time with the ball at both PG and SG and he will play 20 minutes per game, but he's a cheap source for scoring and that's about it. Until he proves he can help out in multiple categories, leave him on the waiver wire. |
SG | Garrison Mathews | Washington Wizards | Washington Wizards | 5.4ppg 1.3rpg 1.1 3pm per game | Matthews will have competition from Jerome Robinson, Troy Brown Jr. and the rookie Deni Avdija and it will be hard for him to secure consistent minutes. | Matthews won't be fantasy relevant unless multiple injuries occur on Washington like they did last year. |
C | Robin Lopez | Milwaukee Bucks | Washington Wizards | 5.4ppg 2.4rpg 0.7bpg | Lopez along with Mo Wagner will back up Thomas Bryant. Wagner has better post moves, but Lopez is the bigger body. Lopez could end up being the third center in this situation. | Lopez is just a big body at this point. He has a few post moves and he can hit long-range jumpers as well. He's not the quickest, but with his seven-foot stature, he can clog up the middle on a team playing 10-14 minutes per game. |
PG | Raul Neto | Philadelphia 76ers | Washington Wizards | 5.1ppg 1.1rpg 1.8apg | Neto will be battling for back up minutes versus Ish Smith and Jerome Robinson. Cassius Winston is also there. | Neto won't be fantasy relevant as John Wall is set to make his return to the court. He'll need a few injuries in order to secure meaningful minutes. |
PF | Davis Bertans | Washington Wizards | Washington Wizards | 15.4ppg 4.5rpg 3.7 3pm per game | Bertans will either start at SF or he'll be the first big man off the bench behind Rui Hachimura. The Wizards should start him over Troy Brown Jr. but they probably won't | Bertans was one of the most lethal shooters last season and the only question that remains is whether or not he'll get the same amount of shots with John Wall back in the mix. Bertans will be the Wizards third scoring option if he starts. The scoring and three-point shooting will his biggest contribution. |
