In the midst of a breakout season, Blake Snell will miss at least his next start due to a stint on the disabled list with fatigue in his left shoulder. Injuries like can be tricky, so his owners will need to be very attentive to reports on his return. After 20 starts, Snell’s 2.27 ERA and 12 wins lead the depleted Rays rotation. He’s struck out 134 in 119 innings and reduced his walk rate to 9.9 percent this year. Hopefully this will only be a one start situation, monitor closely.

Night Moves

Monday’s seem to provide angst for those in weekly formats as the injury wheel keeps on spinning. Justin Turner will head to the disabled list with a right groin strain with Alex Verdugo joining the team in Pittsburgh. The lost season for Turner continues.

Just when Kolten Wong showed signs of life, he heads to the 10-day disabled list with knee inflammation. This will be important to the ground ball pitchers on the Cardinals due to the hit the defense takes without Wong in the lineup.

Ozzie Albies will not be in the lineup on Monday and he’s not slated to return until Thursday.

Happy trails to Brent Suter . He’s been pitching well this year but suffered a torn UCL and has been advised for Tommy John surgery.

Yoenis Céspedes met with a foot specialist about his heel injuries. At this point, does he really want to play? And if he does, should he be in a fantasy lineup?

Good news on Wilson Ramos , he’s progressing well in his rehab and could return in 10 days. Unfortunately, this will happen after the trade deadline.

Joey Gallo ’s ankle injury does not seem serious. He’s not in the lineup tonight so track his injury updates going forward.

San Diego shuffled the rotation with Joey Lucchesi pitching tonight versus the Mets and Eric Lauer moving to Tuesday’s game. Also, Jason Vargas will rejoin the Mets rotation on Friday.

Those looking to stash for saves, if Roberto Osuna ’s on your waiver wire, he’s eligible to return early next week and will begin his rehab at Triple-A in Buffalo this evening.

The trade market for Zach Britton seems to be heating up and the Orioles stand to benefit with Arizona along with Houston coveting the veteran closer. Where he ends up will greatly affect his fantasy value the rest of the year. Keep in mind, Britton’s velocity has rebounded but he’s still struggling with his command.

We’re Going Streaking

Congratulations to the Rougned Odor owners. He “leads” the majors in stolen bases in the second half with three. Small sample size alert. However, Odor did win the Player of the Week honors for his strong start against Cleveland going 8-for-13 with a home run, three RBI and two runs in a three-game set. In July, Odor’s slashing a robust .364/.438/.582 with three home runs and eight RBI raising his average 30 points in the process.

Two Cubs seem to be hitting their strides. Ian Happ ’s last 87 plate appearances yields a .348/.483/.536 slash with a 177 weighted runs created plus metric and he’s walking 20.8 percent of the time. As a leadoff hitter, Anthony Rizzo ’s hitting .556/.658/.815 in his eight game sample and has reached base four times in each of his last three games.

Kenta Maeda ’s increased his slider usage of late and has a 1.40 ERA and 0.82 WHIP his last 25.2 innings as a result. Something to monitor going forward, his buy low window could close soon.

What To Watch For

St. Louis will debut Daniel Poncedeleon on the mound this evening against the Reds in Cincinnati. He matches up with Luis Castillo .

It’s apparent the Brewers will be in the market for a second baseman and starting pitcher. There’s a wealth of combinations available as tandems in the market, which one will they attain? Check back later to cast your vote in our online survey. Teaser.

A rough stretch of late for Sean Newcomb , can he bounce back against the Marlins on the road? By the way, Atlanta said Arodys Vizcaíno will not resume a throwing regimen for two-to-three weeks but hopes he returns this year. It’s time to get A.J. Minter if he’s out there.

Corey Kluber returns from the disabled list in time for a two start week. Here’s hoping it goes well.

Oakland announced Jeurys Familia will slot into the seventh inning with Lou Trivino pitching the eighth and hoping to reduce the multiple innings outings for both Trivino and closer Blake Treinen . Good news for Treinen owners, right Howard?

There’s much more news to come with the trade deadline just over a week away. Be sure to stay with Fantasy Alarm to keep ahead of the competition.
