Fantasy Alarm is taking a different approach to help our subscribers build successful DFS lineups.  I will be giving you my personal core plays for this weekend's tournament.  These players listed below are my three favorite top tier, middle tier and value tier players for both DraftKings and Fanduel.  They will be at the core of all my lineups for this weekend's American Express and then I'll use my playbook to fill out the remaining spots in my lineup.

Make sure you read my full PGA DFS Playbook for the Sony Open before using these core plays.  You can also take a look at my Weekly Tournament Projections at any time.

My big message this week is don’t be afraid to go off the beaten path and try some wild variations because inevitably there’s going to be a surprise in the Top 10 and it’ll likely be someone that no DFS expert had in their core plays.  Look at Pebble Beach last week for example, you had McNealy, Lashley, Hoffman, Knox, and Tringale all finished Top 10 and I serious doubt anyone had more than one of them in their core players.  I had Tringale but that’s it.  Put yourself out there and throw in a random player into your GPPs and see if it hits.

When building your lineups this weekend, you can take more of a stars and scrubs approach because of the value that’s presented.  You’ve got a stacked field which pushes all players down the salary sheet giving you a player the caliber of Abraham Ancer under 8K.  I’m going to start lineups with either Rahm, Schauffele or Finau this week.  I’ll probably try one lineup to squeeze both Thomas and Finau which forces you to dip into the 6K range which I’d like to avoid as much as possible.

This new format of core plays I think is way more valuable to our subscribers because it lends more to teaching than just copy and pasting.  A set of these players will be in each one of my lineups this weekend and then a mix of players from my playbook will fill out the rest.

Good Luck!
