Well, that was one hell of a back nine for unheralded rookie Adam Long. He out slugged a future hall of famer and a rising Canadian star to take down the first title of his career. I was very pleased with the overall results of the weekend, of course things could have been better but I'm proud of the playbook. It's been a terrific start to the PGA Playbook and I'm going to keep the good times rolling into the Farmers Insurance Open.

Torrey Pines is a 36-hole municipal public golf facility owned by the city of San Diego, California.  It sits on the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the community of La Jolla, just south of Torrey Pines State Reserve.  It hosted the 2008 U.S. Open which was the last time Tiger Woods won a Major Championship.

Speaking of Tigers Woods, he'll make his 2019 debut this week. This is the first time he's teed it up since his "Match" against Phil Mickelson back on Thanksgiving. He knows how to pick his events because Tiger basically grew up on this course.  He has also won on this track a record seven times, six of which came at the Farmers Insurance Open.  While I love the guy, he won't be in my playbook. Despite him knowing this course inside and out, just like Justin Rose last week, I want to see Tiger tee it up and knock the holiday rust off before I throw him into my lineup especially at his price.

Back to the Farmers Insurance, this tournament is played over two courses.  The players will play each the North and South courses on Thursday and Friday but play then play the last 36-holes over the weekend on the tougher South course. The North course measures out to only 7,258 yards and is a Par 72.  The South course is consistently ranked as one of the toughest tracks on tour and stretches out 7,698 yards.  These players must take advantage of the short North course to make the weekend.  All players will miss fairways this week, so you can play your bombers.  You should be targeting players who hit greens especially from the rough.  The greens are poa annua which basically means that no putt is safe, no matter the distance but some players thrive on them.

Tee-to-Green specialist will be at a premium at Torrey Pines and you'll notice that theme throughout my playbook. I spoke earlier about Tiger Woods and why you wouldn't see him in my playbook but I wanted to mention Jason Day. The man will be defending his title here for the second time in his career this weekend which will boost his ownership numbers for a player who I already particularly don't care for this weekend. In the Hero Challenge with less than 20 golfers in the field, he finished 16th and in the Sentry with another small field of players, he finished 13th. You can feel free to roster him but I won't be.
