The real Rory McIlory finally stood up and showed everyone that he’s still a major threat every time it tees it up.  The former number one in the world paid me off nicely over the weekend, hopefully you jumped in on him as well. He’ll be playing in the WGC-Match Play this week which I have already posted optimal lineups.  While the top players in the world play their own form of March Madness, we’ve got another regular event going on in Punta Cana.

How much do you like watching second tier golfers?  Well, that’s what you get with the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship!  While all the best players are at the World Golf Championships: Dell Match Play, I’m forced to do research on this event where the "rest" of the PGA Tour golfers play this weekend.  When Emiliano Grillo and Scott Piercy are 11K players, you know this is a weak field. I mean they are both solid players but not worth top dollar. During a typical PGA tour event with a full field, these two would be low 8K or high 7K.  While it must be nice to take a trip down to the Dominican, they'd all rather be playing in WGC "March Madness" Bracket style tournament in Austin, Texas. Things will go back to normal next week at the Houston Open before we head to Augusta in just two short weeks.  I cannot wait.

So, lets take a look at the Corales Golf Club which is a basic stock par 72 that opened in 2010.  The course is long reaching nearly 7,700 yards, both the par 5s can stretch beyond 620 yards. Current PGA Tour players Dominic Bozzelli and Nate Lashley prevailed at Corales in 2016 and 2017, respectively.  Including Lashley, 53 players in this field have competed in at least one of the two editions that the Web.com Tour hosted on this track and 13 golfers competed both times. The greens are just about 11 feet on the stimpmeter which doesn’t pose much of a challenge for these caliber players which means they can play aggressively.  The primary rough is cut to two inches but fairways are accommodating, so long hitters and tee-to-green tacticians both will have success on this course.

We love nicknames like the Bear Trap and the Snake Pit for a three hole stretch, well let me introduce you to “The Devil’s Elbow”.  The 16th, 17th, and 18th played to par in 2016 and a little over par in 2017. Unlike the “Snake Pit”, the closing hole offers players more of an opportunity to win a championship late than trying to take it away from them.

We should not have any weather concerns this week but they are calling for rain and thunder late on Friday and throughout the day on Saturday.  Winds will hopefully keep these players cool in low 80s humid tropical temperatures.

Ok, lets take a look at the playbook … Just a note ... I HATE everything below 7500 on DraftKings. It is just littered with missed cuts.
