The Waste Management Open is such a terrific event and once again it did not disappoint.  How do you not love Arizona State grad Jon Rahm once again putting on an ASU Pat Tillman uniform on the 16th Hole?  Though, I did not appreciate seeing him and Rickie Fowler collapse on Sunday and ruin my One-And-Done play.  Hideki Matsuyama also ruined a lot of people’s weekends but no one could have seen that coming.  It is time to move on and head to Pebble Beach for the weekend.

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am is another one of those special events where the tournament is played over three different courses and there is no cut until after the third round.  I’ve said this repeatedly but when you get an extra round from all your golfers, you can afford to take more risk in your lineups.  It lends you to playing more of a stars and scrubs style with your lineups.

Let’s talk about the courses.  We’ve got Pebble Beach Golf Links (Par 72 – 6,816 yards), Monterey Peninsula (Par 71 – 6,838 yards) and Spyglass Hill (Par 72 – 6,858 yards).  You’ll notice that these courses are rather short and these players can low but that is almost completely weather dependent.  According to the most recent reports, we should see sunshine throughout the weekend with daytime temps into the upper 60s and maybe even dip into the 70s.  The winds look to be light to moderate.  This is all great to hear especially after the terrible nasty conditions these players got in 2016.  You can basically throw out the results from last season as these courses will play completely different.  I’ll be targeting players with great total driving numbers and have excellent proximity numbers to put them into as many birdie making opportunities as possible.

The hardest part of setting lineups for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am is that there are a lot of top priced players with great track records.  DJ, Day, Snedeker, & Holmes all have terrific resumes at Pebble which makes it hard to determine a core. I am avoiding Jordan Spieth until he shows me something. There has just been something not clicking with his game and you saw it again last week at the Waste Management.  Everyone will have their own personal choices and I’ve given mine below in the playbook.  The guys I have listed will be in my core but I may throw .  My lineups will be overweight with Dustin & Justin this weekend.

Pebble Beach is one of the greatest public venues in the United States and always a fun weekend of golf.  There are not many golf hacks out there that wouldn’t give a full paycheck for a chance to play this track, myself being one of them.
