***Update*** Weekend-only GPP lineup has been added below
When you correctly pick a successful Webb Simpson week, you know it was a good week for the playbook. Hopefully, your screens were green especially if once again you used my Cash Optimals. Congrats to Xander Schauffele on a terrific Sunday 67 to claim victory at the Greenbrier, glad to see him take that next step after a fantastic showing at the U.S. Open. Even though this week’s tournament sucks, let’s keep the good times rolling into the John Deere Classic.
All the top ranked players in the world are preparing for The Open Championship coming up next weekend. Because of that, we’ve got the likes of Daniel Berger as the top priced player on the board on both DraftKings and FanDuel. We can hope that with a field like this, more experienced and studied DFS Golf players will have more of an edge. Time to take a quick look at the course.
TPC Deere Run is a Par 71 that stretches out 7,268 yards. You will see even this weak field of golfers tear this course up and the winner come in around 20 under par. That means golfers will have to shoot around 67 every day to get themselves on the leaderboard. Scorers that can go low will be at a premium this weekend. When you look at the course history, you’ll see that hitting the fairway is not as important as hitting the greens. Players who have had success on this track hit the fairways 56 percent of the time while they hit the greens at 72 percent. This is a second shot golf course, meaning that these guys are firing at pins on these large greens. Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker, Jerry Kelly, Tim Clark, Ryan Moore, Jordan Spieth and Brian Harman, these players have all had success at TPC Deere Run and all have great proximity numbers. They are all also excellent putters and good All Around games.
You’ll see a bunch of good cheap value options in this week’s playbook because most any player can win on this track. Just like the Greenbrier, almost anyone in this field could catch fire and take home this title.
On a personal note, the timing on the golf calendar could not be any worse but my very pregnant wife is likely to be induced with our first child early next week. Obviously, I’ll be a little tied up and unable to do the playbook for the Open Championship. Special shout and thanks to Fantasy Alarm senior writer Steve Pimental for agreeing to step up and produce the playbook for me. He was Fantasy Alarm’s first DFS Golf writer and I know he’ll do a great job.
Good Luck this weekend!
