I’ve been writing a lot of fantasy football content here at Fantasy Alarm, and you should definitely check it out, but don’t worry, I haven’t forgot about fantasy baseball! I haven’t forgot about those looking to steal some categories during the fantasy baseball playoffs! I promise the fantasy baseball faithful that I am still here for you!

Home Runs

Matt Olson, 1B OAK – First and foremost, let’s just address the main stat. In the last two weeks, Olson has left the yard a whopping seven times. Half of his hits are home runs! Of course, it’s not sustainable, but let’s not nitpick ladies and gentlemen. He’s on fire and even that may not do him justice! Olson could be a productive home run hitter at the big league level, especially considering the fact that he hit 23 home runs in just 79 games at the Triple-A level this year. Of course, the strikeouts are a detriment to his fantasy value, but let’s not look at the negative here! We’re all about the power, baby! The power is real with Olson and his spacious home park isn’t containing him. Only six of his 15 home runs are away from home, so don’t be scared off. He’s still available in just over 80 percent of fantasy leagues on ESPN.

Harrison Bader, OF STL – Bader should see regular at-bats moving forward and I expect his ownership percentage to rapidly inflate in the coming days. He’s available in 97 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, but it won’t be like that for long. He’s hitting .333 over the last two weeks with three home runs, and an even a stolen base for a cherry on top. He was never a huge home run hitter in the minors, but he has upper-teens potential at the big league level. He spreads the ball around the field and has done a good job of making hard contact in 2017. Bader won’t be immune to growing pains, so he might hit a bit of a slump when opposing pitchers figure him out, but for the time being, he’s good to go in your lineup. At this crucial point of the year, you need to make bold moves that can be the difference. Bader is a step in that direction.

Cameron Maybin, OF HOU – Maybin has always been a streaky hitter throughout his career, and perhaps the trade to Houston will rejuvenate him down the stretch. After hitting a paltry .235 with the Angels, Maybin moved to Houston and although he’s hitting just .250, he does have three home runs in just six games. The park should benefit Maybin and the players around him should also help increase his counting stats. Of course, we’re only talking about home runs in this article, but it never hurts to throw in an additional nugget! Over the past seven days, he’s come to the plate with runners in scoring position in 10 of his 19 plate appearances. All this means is that he’s more likely to hit more impactful home runs, not just solo shots. The speedy outfielder is owned in just 13 percent of fantasy leagues, but the percentage that he gives your team a nice boost down the stretch is well north of that.

Chris Iannetta, C – CATCHER ALERT! Add some power at catcher for your fantasy team by adding Iannetta to your roster. He’s popped four big flies over the last two weeks, while hitting just above .300. Arizona is rolling at the moment and Iannetta will continue to get at-bats behind the dish for the D’Backs. When it comes to facing right-handers, Iannetta is a near must start. Of his 34 total hits against righties this season, 24 have gone for extra bases. However, his batting average is significantly higher against southpaws. Most of his home runs have come on the road this season, and in fact, most of his stats are better away from Chase Field. If you’re in a two-catcher or NL-only format, Iannetta is a must add at this point of the fantasy baseball season. If you’re ring chasing, Iannetta should be on your squad, behind the dish.
