Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is going to be a fun slate. Trevor Bauer and Tyler Glasnow are on the slate, and there are some other solid arms that could be involved in your lineup. Now, those two cost a pretty penny, so how are you going to afford them? Well, finding some value bats, or even an arm as your second starter on DraftKings will be imperative for success on tonight’s slate. One last thing: Be sure to keep an eye on the weather in the games, particular in the northeast region, as there is some substantial concern for rain. Without further ado, let’s head into the Value Vault for today’s slate!

Both Sites:

Matt Beaty , OF LAD ($2,100 FD/$2,700 DK) - Beaty has hit safely in three of his last four games, and he’s abused right-handers. Lefties have gotten the best of Beaty, but he has a solid .292 average, .403 on-base percentage, and .788 OPS against righties this year. Houston’s Luis García has allowed a .351 wOBA to left-handed hitters and a 2.08 HR/9 to left-handers specifically. I’m only using Beatty in GPPs tonight, because Garcia struggles in the third time through the order (.364 BAA and .909 SLG%), and Houston could trot a lefty out there against him to exploit his significant splits.

Yandy Díaz , 3B TB ($2,400 FD/$3,100 DK) - Kansas City’s Mike Minor has served up an .824 OPS to right-handed hitters, not to mention a .286 average. Despite not hitting a home run all year, Diaz has four multi-hit efforts in his last 10 games, and Minor has allowed a 1.47 HR/9 mark in 2021. Perhaps the most encouraging mark is that the Rays are at home, and Diaz has a .318 average and .873 OPS at home this year.

Triston McKenzie, SP CLE ($6,400 FD/$7,500 DK) - Over the last two weeks, the Trigers are one of just 12 teams to have a strikeout rate north of 26 percent, and for the entire 2021 season, only the Giants have a higher strikeout rate against right-handers than Detroit. McKenzie hasn’t been great this year, and he’s coming back up from the minors for this start, but his arsenal can induce many whiffs and the Indians should be able to get to Detroit’s José Ureña . On a slate with so many top tier pitchers, McKenzie should be utilized in GPPs only.

FanDuel:

Tyler Naquin , OF CIN ($2,900) - Naquin has a .263 average and .867 OPS against right-handed pitching this year, while Joe Ross has served up a whopping .935 OPS to left-handed hitters. In two home starts, Ross has an ERA of 11.17, and he’s allowed five home runs in 9.2 home innings this year. Naquin’s average on the road isn’t as good as his home batting average, but his .738 road OPS isn’t bad for a sub-$3,000 price tag on FanDuel.

Austin Riley , 3B ATL ($3,400) - The breakout is here! Riley has been excellent this season, and he’s destroying right-handed pitching. For the year, he has a .316 average and .936 OPS against righties, and he gets to face Boston’s Nick Pivetta in this one. The long ball hasn’t hurt Pivetta too much this year, but Riley is hot, hitting safely in eight of his last nine, while recording five multi-hit games in that span. Oh, in that same nine game span, he’s homered six times, scored 10 runs and notched 11 RBI (9 in his last four games alone).

Josh Naylor , OF CLE ($2,500 FD) - Lefties are hitting .330 against José Ureña this year, not to mention an OPS north of .800. Naylor has a .281 average and .765 OPS against righties this year, and all four of his home runs on the year have come on the road. Naylor might be hitless in his last three appearances, but he had a four-game hit streak prior to that. Urena has a 4.62 ERA on the year, but his 6.88 ERA in home starts is attractive when looking at some Cleveland bats today. In his last two home starts, Urena has allowed six earned runs on 14 hits across just seven innings of work.

DraftKings:

Gleyber Torres , SS NYY ($3,600) - He’s coming off an 0-for-4 day, but prior to that, he hit safely in five straight with four multi-hit performances. Alek Manaoh is making his debut today, and Torres has a .736 OPS against right-handed pitchers for the 2021 season. However, for the month of May alone, Torres has a .314 batting average and .899 OPS against righties. His price tag is creeping up, but he’s still a solid value on DraftKings tonight. Update: The Toronto-New York game has been postponed.

Jonathan Villar , 3B NYM ($3,400) - Villar has hit safely in six of his last eight games, and he has a .751 OPS against righties in 2021. The veteran infielder is 4for-10 in his career off Colorado’s Germán Márquez , and the Colorado right-hander has allowed a .281 average to left-handed hitters this year. I’m skeptical about how much the Mets can get to Marquez, who is a solid value himself, but if anyone can do some damage, it will be Villar. Update: The Mets game has been postponed. Look to replace Villar with Yandy Diaz (if you aren't playing Diaz at 1B).

Chris Paddack , SP SDP ($7,700) - Milwaukee has the third-highest strikeout rate and third-lowest slugging percentage against right-handers in 2021. After a brief stint on the injured list, Paddack has returned and looked much better on the bump. Over his last three starts (13 innings), he’s allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits (1 HR) while posting a respectable 12:4 K/BB ratio. The issue with Paddack is that his pitch counts have been high, and outside of his six inning performance against the Mariners, he hasn’t gotten deep into games. In fact, he’s only thrown six innings once, and more than five innings twice. He’s a contrarian SP2 on DraftKings today, as he does have some upside against a strikeout-prone Milwaukee team.
