Overall, yesterday was a great day for the Value Vault! Austin Riley homered twice, and four other hitters had at least two hits! The only large miss was Luis Castillo , and that one stung. However, we have a six game main slate on this Monday evening, and there are going to be some popular stacks. Leading up to lineup lock, you’ll want to keep an eye out for delays/postponements, notably in Detroit, and Minnesota. Without further ado, let’s head into the Value Vault for some cost-efficient options for your lineups.

Both Sites:

Anthony Santander , OF BAL ($2,500 FD/$3,300 DK) - I said it yesterday, and it applies again today. Keep playing Santander while he’s severely underpriced. It’s only a matter of time until the days in the twos on FanDuel and threes on DraftKings are long in the rearview mirror. Since returning from injury, he’s 6-for-13 with one home run, two doubles, three runs scored and two RBI. Santander has a .717 OPS on the year versus right-handed pitchers, and lefties have destroyed Shoemaker this year (.964 OPS). Also, for what it’s worth, Shoemaker has a 7.36 ERA in five home starts this year, so that’s encouraging for Santander and Baltimore.

Chad Pinder , 2B OAK ($2,200 FD/$3,200 DK) - Yusei Kikuchi has been vulnerable to right-handed hitters this year, as you’ll read throughout the article today, and Pinder is a lefty killer. This year, he’s hitting .444 with a 1.500 OPS against southpaws, and for his career, his batting average against lefties (.263) and OPS (.784) are 31 and 84 points higher than his marks against righties respectively.

Edmundo Sosa , SS STL ($2,100 FD/$3,200 DK) - Sosa is white hot and has filled in quite admirably for the injured Paul DeJong . In his last five games, he has four multi-hit contests, and is a whopping 10-for-17 (.588 BA) in this awesome five game stretch. Specifically against right-handed pitchers this year, Sosa is sporting a .423/.531/1.108 slash line. Yes, it’s not a great matchup, but look at these price points! The price is more attractive on FanDuel, but he’s still too cheap on DraftKings.

FanDuel:

Robbie Grossman , OF DET ($2,900 FD) - Simply put, Grossman is priced way too cheap on FanDuel. He’s riding a four-game hit streak and hitting .421 (8-for-19) with one home run, four runs scored and two RBI in the process. He gets to face Sam Hentges, a lefty, who has allowed righties to obliterate him this year, to the tune of a .375 average and 1.132 OPS. How’s Grossman against lefties? Well, he has a .311 batting average against southpaws, and an impressive .929 OPS. So, the answer is very good. He has at least 12 FanDuel points in four straight games and is comfortably atop the Detroit lineup.

Francisco Lindor , SS NYM ($2,900 FD) - The numbers don’t quite show it, but things are slowly picking up for the star shortstop. Since the calendar flipped to May, Lindor’s ISO is up 75 points since the opening month of the year, and his wOBA is up 35 points. His hard contact rate is up immensely, and he’s eating into that ground ball rate. Sure, results aren’t quite there yet, but in the month of May, he has a .500 slugging percentage and .855 OPS against southpaws. He’s been screwed by a .200 BABIP against lefties this month, but he could break out in a big way today against Austin Gomber .

Matt Chapman , 3B OAK ($2,700 FD) - Chapman against lefties is something I routinely exploit. In 2021, he has a .866 OPS against southpaws and he’s 3-for-11 with a home run off Seattle’s Yusei Kikuchi . In May alone, Chapman has a .290 average southpaws, and Kikuchi has allowed a .727 OPS to right-handed hitters this year. Kikuchi has been solid this year, but there’s a lot of Oakland bats I find myself intrigued by tonight.

DraftKings:

Eric Haase , C DET ($3,400 DK) - Haase is riding a six game hit streak and Sam Hentges has been abysmal on the road this year. Hentges has allowed a 14.40 ERA on the road this year, and right-handers have lit him up for  a.375 batting average, .479 wOBA and 1.132 OPS. Well, against southpaws, Haase has a .333 batting average and a .933 OPS. Keep an eye on the weather here, as this could be heading for a delay, but Haase is a great value today against arguably the worst pitcher on the main slate.

Josh Fuentes , 3B COL ($3,300 DK) - Fuentes is white hot at the moment, and has been crushing lefties. His .375 batting average and 1.069 OPS against southpaws is exceptional. David Peterson has been solid, but I’ll trust Fuentes’ hot bat, and the fact that he has seven multi-hit games in his last 10 outings. SEVEN! SEVEN! My only pause with Fuentes is that he’s a .196 hitter away from Coors Field, but in a three games set at San Diego recently, he managed to go 3-for-10 in the series with two extra base hits and one RBI.
