The Value Vault was solid yesterday, headlined by Nick Solak ’s productive day (well, at-bat I guess). Leury García also drove in a couple runs, and Kyle Lewis gave us a couple of base hits. So, on this fine Monday, we have a smaller slate, and there a couple team stacks I’m very intrigued by on this small slate. You’ll continue reading below, but there’s a lot of good value to allow you to go get some of the bigger bats this evening. Without further ado, let’s head into the Value Vault for today’s slate!

Both Sites:

Michael Chavis , 2B BOS ($2,000 FD/$2,500 DK) - I really like Alex Verdugo tonight, and was about to write him up for the article. However, Chavis is in a really nice spot tonight and he caught my eye. Lopez has served up a 6.49 ERA and a 2.39 HR/9 in 26.1 innings of work this season. Lefties have gotten to Lopez a bit more than righties this year, but Chavis has plenty of pop in that bat of his. If he hits at the top of the order, he’s a very, very, very cheap piece of a profitable stack, along with the likes of Verdugo and your pick of the other big bats in that lineup (Rafael Devers , Xander Bogaerts , JD Martinez, etc.). Update: Chavis isn't in the lineup. Marwin Gonzalez is at the top of the order and is very cheap on both sites. Also, he's riding a seven game hit streak. Boston still has an attractive offense tonight, with Alex Verdugo being a great value play on FanDuel, and with enough value, you can get Devers, Bogaerts or Martinez.

Tucker Barnhart , C CIN ($2,600 FD/$3,500 DK) - Lefties against Mitch Keller is a real thing. This year, lefties are hitting .294 with a .382 wOBA against Keller, and for his career, those marks are .313 and .392 respectively. Ouch. All Barnhart has done this year against righties is post a .295 batting average and .852 OPS. Not too shabby, right? While he is hitless in his last two appearances, he did hit safely in the three games before that and he’s quite affordable on both sites. Keller does have some stuff that can induce swings-and-misses, and I don’t like where Barnhart’s strikeout rate currently sits (38%), however, his .474 BABIP against a pitcher who is rather unlucky has me encouraged.

Austin Hays , OF BAL ($3,100 FD/$3,800 DK) - Boston’s Martín Pérez has a 4.40 ERA and 1.47 WHIP on the season, and all Hays does is make contact against southpaws. Hays has a .393 average and 1.235 OPS against lefties this year, and for his career, he strikes out just 14.9 percent of the time against lefties. Perez hasn’t been bitten by the long ball this year, but Hays’ .232 ISO and .484 slugging percentage in his career against lefties has me envisioning a round tripper tonight for the young outfielder. He’ll hit at the top of the order, which is always good, and he’s a building block for me in tonight’s smaller slate. If you want to get another Baltimore hitter in your lineup, check out Ryan Mountcastle on both FanDuel ($2,600) and DraftKings ($3,500), as he’s sporting a .289 average against southpaws this season.

FanDuel:

Jared Walsh , OF LAA ($3,300 FD) - Walsh’s lone at-bat against Luis García went for a home run, so that’s encouraging in and of itself. However, it gets better. Garcia has allowed an .810 OPS to left-handed hitters in 2021 and a 1.46 HR/9 overall. Meanwhile, Walsh has hit safely in four of his last five games, and has impressive marks against righties, most notably his .378 batting average and 1.121 OPS. There should be some runs scored in this game, and Walsh should be a key contributor for the Angels, and on FanDuel, he’s a lock.

DraftKings:

Kyle Gibson , SP TEX ($8,600 DK) - Gibson is the most expensive pitcher on the slate on FanDuel, but he’s the fourth-most expensive on DraftKings. While he did serve up two home runs in his last outing, he only allowed three hits across eight innings of work. He’s not a strikeout extraordinaire, which can limit his ceiling, but after his horrific first start, he’s 3-0 with 19 or more DraftKings points in four of five starts. There is some strikeout upside here for Gibson, considering that the Giants are tied for the league lead in strikeout rate (28%) against righties in 2021. Also, Gibson is the only starter on the slate to have allowed a sub-.300 wOBA against lefties (.203) and righties (.287) in 2021.

Adolis García, OF TEX ($3,200 DK) -Alex Wood has been better against righties than lefties here in 2021, but I wouldn’t put too much stock into that. In 2018, righties hit .240 off him. In 2019 and 2020, righties had great success, posting batting averages of .289 and .306. However, one thing that isn’t up for debate is how darn good Garcia has been against lefties this year. In 49 at-bats, he has 15 hits, good for a .306 average, and five of those hits sailed over the fence. Garcia has 20+ DraftKings points in two straight games, and he has three straight multi-hit efforts. He’s too cheap on DraftKings.
