Stacks for Thursday, June 14th

Top Stack:  Arizona Diamondbacks

As mentioned in the hitting coach, four-game slates are tough to figure out.  Those that max enter lineups could likely cover a large majority of the stack options available, which makes the single, or limited entry GPPs your best option.

Overall, there is no real team that fully stands out over another tonight, and all games currently sit with implied run totals of 8.5-9 runs.  With this being the case, may as well attack who you feel is the worst pitcher on the slate. For me, that’s Jason Vargas. He’s allowed 18 earned runs over 15.2 innings in four road starts this year, and is pretty much only in the rotation due to the Mets rotation injuries.

The D-Backs scored at least eight runs in five-straight games before their ninth inning rally fell short in a 5-4 loss yesterday.  I think they keep their offense going tonight, starting with Paul Goldschmidt. He’s on a nine-game hit streak that includes four homers and six doubles.  Teams won’t be able to pitch around him with Ketel Marte swinging a hot bat with multiple hits in three out of his last four games. Jon Jay has been a spark in the leadoff spot, and shouldn’t be worried about a L/L matchup if thinking Vargas won’t last long anyways.  Jon Ryan Murphy has cooled off a bit, but seems to be in a good spot to go deep tonight.

Contrarian Stack: Rays/Yankees Full Game Stack

With only four games, may as well try to go all in on one of them.  Since I recommended single or limited entry contests, a Rays/Yankees full game stack should be pretty low owned considering most will be on one of the two pitchers from this game.

Snell is your highest priced pitcher of the slate, and comes in with a 0.89 ERA over his last five starts.  He did get rocked by the Yankees earlier this season, and Vegas has the Yankees as the largest favorite with one of the highest implied run totals tonight.  Giancarlo Stanton broke out of his slump last night, and took Snell deep earlier this year. Hopefully, Gary Sanchez, who took Snell deep in that same game, and is 4-for-10 with three homers as well, will break out of his 4-for-53 slump as well tonight.  Since I’m full stacking this game, the Rays don’t really have any OF options that stand out to me, so I will fill in the other OF spots with Yankees. With Snell being a lefty, Aaron Hicks and Aaron Judge will likely fill those two spots.

The Rays check in currently with the lowest implied run total tonight in a matchup vs a winless Domingo German.  He’s lost three out of his last four starts, while allowing at least three earned in each of them. He allowed two homers in two of those starts, including two in his last start vs a poor Mets offense. The Rays scored at least four runs in four-straight before a tough 1-0 win in their last game.  Matt Duffy has been solid in his new leadoff spot, and has batted .308 over his last 10 games. He can be paired with either Jake Bauers or C.J. Cron at first. Bauer is on a nice five-game hit streak, with multiple hits in three of them. Willy Adames was looking good before his o’fer yesterday, but nobody was hitting in that 1-0 game.  That leaves you with a Joey Wendle at second base, but will likely have enough salary remaining to either take a Gleyber Torres on DK, or Ozzie Albies on FD tonight if not wanting to leave salary on the table.
