Stacks for Sunday, April 8th

Sunday baseball means the early ten-game main slate today, which eliminates the game in Coors, as well as Ohtani taking the mound for his second start.  Please make sure to monitor the weather, as well as the lineups,  In my opinion, stacking is the best way to go about creating tournament lineups.  Of course, if also playing cash games, you should always enter that in one gpp as well.

Each person may have their own approach to stacking, so you’ll likely receive different stacking routes in each daily stacking article.  Below are my top stacks for Sunday’s main slate.  Please note that my stacks are geared towards Fanduel and DraftKings, but can be transferred for use on the other sites as well.

Stack Tip of the Day:  FanDuel now allows you to stack four hitters plus the pitcher from the same team.

Paying Up for Pitching:

Pitching is very affordable today, which will allow you more options to consider when choosing which team or teams to load up on today.

On FanDuel, only $600 separates the top four priced pitching options, and even with taking the top choice in Morton, you will be left with a little over $3.2K per hitter.  With that amount, I would go with a 4 x 4 stack, with the idea of focusing on some high priced bats from one team, and some cheap bats from the second team.  While there are plenty of combo’s to go with this approach, I’m leaning with the popular Yankees, and the suddenly explosive Phillies.

For the Yankees, they are very much capable of another big game today, and no real surprise that they join the Astros as the two highest projected scoring teams on the slate.  They went 1-9 with RISP on Thursday, 2-11 on Friday, but scored eight runs finally last night.  Baltimore’s pitcher, Wright, didn’t look horrible in his first start, but wasn’t lights out either.  He’s appeared vs the Yankees eight times over his career, and is 0-1, with an 8.04 ERA.  If paying up for the Yankees in this stack, Aaron Judge has at least one RBI in 14 straight home games, and is 3-5 with a homer off of Wright Jr.  I would complete the OF spots with Giancarlo Stanton and Brett Gardner ,  and use one of their cheaper options as the fourth Yankee.  Since I don’t like using a catcher on FD, I went with one of their second base options over Andujar, and plugged Ronald Torreyes in.  That fourth spot can be used by any of the cheap options though.

After paying up for some big bats, the Phillies, who had 19 runs over their first six games, blasted off for a 20 spot last night, and have cheap prices up against a rookie pitcher today.  Richards allowed five runs over 4.1 innings in his debut, which was the first time he pitched above Double-A ball.  I may be chasing with the Phillies, and if you agree, feel free to take a combination of the cheap players from top teams batting in the bottom of their lineup.  The Red Sox, and Indians fill that role.

On DK, taking the top pitchers in Morton and Arrieta leaves you with $3.6K per hitter.  That’s not as easy for rostering the big Yankees bats, which means likely leaving Stanton out, and going with Austin Romine as a punt catcher if Sanchez remains out.

Alternative Routes:  The Astros, Cubs, and Red Sox are all in nice spots today.  Of those three, the Red Sox have won seven straight games, but could actually see more taking a chance with the Rays vs Rodriguez tonight for a high risk, high reward.  The Astros have scored only five runs over their last three games, but they have plenty of power to break out of that slump.  They only hit for singles yesterday, and may be ready to attack Ross, who only had three swing and misses in his first start.

Finally, the Reds vs Pirates game could be the sneaky one to stack, as the teams combined for 28 runs over their last two games.  Having said that, this could also be the sneaky game to target pitchers from.  Mahle shut down the Cubs in his first start, while Taillon tied his career high with nine K’s in his opener.  Cincy seems to be heating up out of the two, and Taillon went 0-2, with a 6.20 ERA over five starts vs the Reds last year. José Peraza is 8-11, while Billy Hamilton is 7-17, with two homers off Taillon.

Top Options from description above:

Phillies:  Carlos Santana , Maikel Franco , Scott Kingery, Aaron Altherr .

Reds:  José Peraza , Joey Votto , Billy Hamilton , Scooter Gennett .
